Hi COBirders,
The links I provided for the articles on Cackling Geese in Colorado did not

Hi Rachel and all,
Here is a photo I took Saturday near Berthoud of some geese. I assume
one Canada and five Cackling. For extra credit I would say one
Moffit's and five Richardson's. Or are there any Lesser Canada Geese
lurking in there?

The short necks and bill shape peg the smaller geese as Cacklers, type
Richardson's.
The larger goose may well be a moffitti/maxima thang (in theory, moffitt's
shouldn't be so white on breast), but I am not sure that, from this one photo,
parvipes can be eliminated (though it
Hi all:
With the recent report of an eastern Blue-gray Gnatcatcher in the northeast

About 15 minutes ago I saw an Osprey on Namaqua Road in SW Loveland. It was
flying around a pond that was built a couple of years ago and earlier this
summer an Osprey platform was put up in the same location. It is only 5 minutes
from my house, so I got home to get my camera and went back, but
I just received a message from Mark Chavez, he has a jaeger flying around

Yesterday, 11/15/2011, Dave Leatherman found 2 Black Brant in Sheldon Lake
at City Park in Fort Collins, CO (Larimer County).
Tom and Mary France went over, found the birds right away, and got pictures
of them. They were very skittish of people and stayed in the middle of a few

Despite encountering a fair number of BG Gnatcatchers at Prewitt this fall, few
were kind enough to call.
One on 3 September called like an eastern, very different to my ear from the
westerns that I've grown quite used to hearing.
On 11 September, I heard what sounded like a

the MacKenzie Ave area on the east side of Canon City. It continues to

Birders,
To pick up where Dave left off, I arrived at the dove spot at 9:30 during a
pretty good snow squall that continued until I had the dove first at 10:30
for about 30 seconds after I spooked it off the left hand 2 track. I had
already walked the area south and north of the 2-tracks and left
