Northern Shrike
perched a-top willows on Lake Dillon on bike path midway between Town of
Dillon and Dillon Preserve
Awesome; haven't seen a Shrike in that location for couple years; perhaps a
harbinger of good things to come.

this August 23, 2014 with renown author and researcher, Scott Weidensaul,
as the keynote speaker.
We will have this event at the lovely, Lone Hawk Farm, in Boulder County.

Taking advantage of temporary non-gale force winds, we walked in Garden of the
Gods Park this morning. Birds were sparse, but we did find a small flock of
Juniper Titmouse(s?) in the Spring Canyon area, on the shaded rocky slopes
above the creek bed.

I went to look for the previously reported Greater Scaup at the Rec pond at
GVR (northeast corner of Tower Rd and Green Valley Ranch Blvd, in Town
Center Park). The scaup were there along with a dozen other types of
waterfowl including; Redhead, Canvasback, Northern Pintail, Ring-neckeds,
A harbinger of spring, despite the high winds…While walking our dog, I was
privileged to see a beautiful male Mountain Bluebird flitting around the
grasses in the Molly Moon Meadow near Red Feather Lakes this morning. I just
hope he still has many friends, after our Mountain Bluebirds were

I relocated an American Dipper in Clear Creek (Adams Cty.) today at about
4:30pm. It was downstream from the bike path bridge, about 400 yards east
of Lowell Blvd.
