Cobirders,
I just want to mention for those that may be newer birders in the state that
this is an extremely rare bird for the state. To have one stick in such an
accessible location for this length of time is unprecedented for Colorado.
There is no good excuse to not hop in the car and go
Today I stopped by Chico Basin Ranch (not on my way to Lamar). At Rose pond
(Pueblo County) I wasn't able to find the Palm Warbler but found the much
more common Virginia's Warbler. The water is still high so there isn't much
shorebird habitat. There were 2 Marbled Godwit and a Willet in a flooded

I spent yesterday (May 2) in Park County again. I have limited time right
now, so I’ll just report some of the interesting waterbirds seen from the
Park County shore lines, and hope to fill out the report later with notes
on some other species in another post.
All the big Park reservoirs are now
Still being seen in NW corner of campground as of 3:45 pm. Very cooperative

Walker Pit, west of Franktown a quarter mile, yesterday had Marbled Godwits,
Long-billed dowitchers, and American Avocets. This afternoon, Saturday, none of
them had stayed -- but 4 Whimbrels arrived.
The Pit has its usual complement of ducks - many Gadwalls plus others.

Hello, Birders.
In between birthday parties and soccer games (how all my Saturdays are, these
days) this Saturday, May 3, I explored along N. 109th Street in Erie, eastern
Boulder County. Just south of the Boulder Creek crossing, there's a new wetland
created by the September 2013 floods. And
Hi everyone,
There was a good crowd this morning 5/3 at Crow Valley Campground. I wore
waders for the occasion. I saw the Painted Redstart at the west end of the
campground. A Pine Warbler was in the cedar in the southwest corner (waders
required). Other birds of interest included a Red-naped
Hi all,
I just thought I'd chime in and add that Tayler Brooks and I saw the
Painted Redstart this morning on a quick trip to Crow Valley Campground.
It was hanging out in the northwestern corner the entire time, and singing
actively. I got a lengthy recording of it, which can be heard here:
My birding group of Chris Knight, Kara Carragher, and I had a fun
birding day in Prowers, Bent, and Kiowa Counties in SE Colorado today.
Here are our highlights:
Lamar High School:
Cassin's Sparrows singing
Yellow-breasted Chat - 1
Lamar Community College:
Yellow-throated Warbler - 1 singing
Lisa Edwards, Maggie Boswell, Kathy Mihm-Dunning and I found an adult
Blackburnian Warbler which was seen 1.5 miles south of Baca County Road MM on
Road 45 at stream crossing. STAY ON ROAD!

We started at Walden Ponds where the many birds were mainly confined to the
domain of usual

Popped up to Spring Park reservoir above El Jebel this evening (Saturday).
