Over the past week or so I've mostly been hanging around the Lagerman
Reservoir/Golden Ponds area in SW longmont.
Over the course of the week at Lagerman I have mainly seen a large spike in
Bairds Sandpipers as I'm sure the rest of Colorado has, Least Sandpipers
seem to be pretty stable at 1 or
We have some anomalies this summer among the birds that come to our feeders.
Today 4 surprise birds showed up.
We see many more Black-headed Grosbeaks than in any of the past 3 years.
Compared with 5 or so in daily in summers of 2014-2016, this month we see 10-15
, and probably more. Many,
Saw and photographed 7 Little Gulls at Lower Queens 14Aug2017. Thanks to
Dr. Steve and David Dowell for showing me these birds, yesterday, at Upper

The *Solitary Sandpiper (cinnamomea) *continues at the Grand Junction
Wildlife Area (GJWA) in Grand Junction. Carol Ortenzio took some photos
this morning while we were observing the bird. The beige spots (rather than
white spots) on the upperwing are evident in some of the photos.

front window on Saturday! It was fine after a few minutes.

Pics of 2 Little Gulls and the probable Brown-crested Flycatcher (though the
broad white inner tertial is worrisome for this bird being a most peculiar GCFL
-- not the concern Dave and I had at first, which was ATFL) can be seen at
An adult male *Sharp-shinned Hawk* was hunting (unsuccessfully) in my yard
yesterday afternoon, 8/13. This was only my second summer record in my home
area; perhaps it was an early fall migrant.
*Western Tanagers* are among the very few migrants near home this morning.
Adult male *Rufous *and
