wrapped up its first week of banding and we've had some exciting captures. The
cold front early in the week brought some good birds, but lately, with the warm
weather, things have generally tapered off later

blanketed much of the northern Rockies might be partly or wholly to blame?
Are you aware of other instances where heavy smoke, without regional fires,
has generated species movement akin to the effects of other large
Slow, hot and weird morning. There was a Chickadee convention going on in
the area around the front nets as we made our first run - we caught 8 (1
new, 6 banded earlier this year, 1 banded last year) and there were still
many in the willows chickadee-ing. We also caught a Brown Creeper (an
At 11:30 today, there were still two Caspian Terns on the sand spit to the
north
at Timnath Reservoir. They flew in as I was scanning the shore where the
Gulls
and Pelicans and Cormorants roost.
