I have a complete set of Arthur Cleveland Bent's Life Histories of North
American Birds (all 26 volumes) that I'd like to get rid of. It's the Dover
paperback edition in very good condition. The set sells for around $250

Please disregard my previous post about seeing the Brown Pelican flying! I
just looked at some of my shots and it does appear to be huddled near the
white pelicans on the little strip of land near the beaver dam. We
initially thought it was a rock. So what did we see flying overhead?

Finally able to see the Brown Pelican today around 3PM from the overlook.
We thought we had missed it because it wasn't with the white pelicans near
the beaver dam. But I happened to look up at the right time just as it

Wow! Thanks for posting about this Hugh! It was right after this that the
Brown Pelican was seen at Cherry Creek on the 16th too! (It has since
returned to Chatfield - unless as another birder reported, perhaps there
were two?)

By the 1960’s, due to organochlorine pesticides, the once-abundant Brown
Pelican disappeared from the northern Caribbean (Texas-Louisiana). Today, due
to conservation initiatives, the Brown Pelican is now again abundant in the
region, thus explaining the higher possibility of wanderers
