Hey, Cobirders,
Curious as to your thoughts on this. I'd have thought a pigeon is too big
for a Sharpie, and I've had Cooper's (and Goshawks) take pigeons in the
yard before... But a female Sharpie and a western male Cooper's aren't much
different in size. I see traits of both in the different
A slightly busier day - out of the teens and into the 20's!
Our most interesting captures today were American Redstarts. We have a
small but hardy population that breed very close to the banding station.
We caught the likely oldest female (banded 2019) on the 13th. Today we
caught what I
Good afternoon,
I looked up while pulling into my driveway in downtown Colorado Springs
to see an adult Mississippi Kite soaring overhead, a fairly unusual bird
for this part of Colorado. Unmistakable: smallish raptor, pointy wings,
grey belly, black wedge-shaped tail. Last seen at about
Still there as of 1:00 PM today Thursday but now relocated in the
easternmost area of the marsh in the narrow channel of water just before
the land bridge on the extended trail around the southside of marsh...

Slow Bird day today. Maybe the birds know what is coming and high-tailing

bird migration.

Hi All,
Wish I had more time to observe this bird before it flew off, but I am
fairly certain I saw a Yellow-throated Warbler today (5/19) on Meadowlark
Trail in Deer Creek Canyon.
Definitely saw bold white eyebrow, striking black/white face, and more
yellow than a Yellow-Rump Warbler and
Hi Everyone,
Spent a good while looking at a nice Olive-sided Flycatcher yesterday
evening (5/18) along Clear Creek in Prospect Park. He was sporting a "vest"
and remained perched at a treetop for a very long time. Observed by
multiple birders.
Happy Birding,
Gigi

Nathan Pieplow heard the same bird that I reported as a Blue-winged Warbler
yesterday. He thought it best to call it a Blue-winged/Golden-winged
Warbler, because the two species hybridize.
Neither one of us saw it!

I know the crowds of birders are coming to Pueblo for the CFO Convention.
There is a singing Red-eyed Vireo on the west side of the park right now,
along the frisbee golf course creek.
