mallards. There were very few people (early morning), especially off the
cement path onto the gravel paths.

We noticed the M-R Bird Sanctuary signs that used to be up have been
removed. There is a 2X3 foot (or so) display near the west end, but are
there plans to replace signs at the east and west entrance to the Sanctuary?

greater caution instead.
We need to work with Xcel on this project to minimize the harm to the
habitat, not work against them. Offering to work with someone is far more
effective than working against them.

Sibley's Guide has a good drawing of a 2nd year bald eagle, showing the
light dark band on the end of the tail and the white on the front. That is
clearly showing on photos 23 & 24.

disappeared in the sky. It was about straight up from 71st Avenue and right
over the Poudre River

goldeneye, coots, six pelicans, eared grebes, and 2 Ferr. hawks. From there
I went north to Seeley Lake and saw, in addition to some of the above, one
snow goose mixed in the the hordes of cackling geese and a few Canada geese.

a flycatcher along the path 100 yards west of this location. I did not have
time to determine which flycatcher it was.

Anyway, not as good of birding as last winter, but not bad for a short walk

I checked out Glenmere Park in Greeley and found 2 snowy egrets, 5
pelicans, and about a dozen cormorants. None of the nests looked complete
as yet and there were no signs of the night herons.

blue-morph snow goose, common golden-eyes, common mergansers, mallards,

, I looked north toward Ryan Gulch Reservoir and saw on the near
shallow area another swan. Again, I could not see any orange on the bill.
If someone with a scope is in the area, I would be interested to hear what
kind of swans those are. My thought was that they are trumpeters.

But, after awhile, I did determine that it was a loggerhead shrike. While
driving away, another immature bald eagle flew fairly low over the car.
Great reward for just 25 minutes.

I was at the Poudre River and ponds west of 35th Avenue in Greeley and saw a
mute swan, lots of snowy egrets, some gadwalls, a great egret, some terns I
could not quite ID for sure, GB herons, several BC night herons and some
geese. Nothing spectacular, but an enjoyable walk.
