were treated to good views of two Short-eared Owls at Wellington SWA. We

This morning around 10 AM, while walking at Pella Crossing near Hygiene, I
spotted a flock of 38 Sandhill Cranes overhead, drifting north. Over on the
western unit near St. Vrain Creek there were about a dozen newly arrived
Great Blue Herons at the small rookery there and one of the nests

I have been contacted by a falconer who lost his first-year red-tailed hawk
on Saturday, March 3rd in high winds. The bird was last seen in the
Chatfield Ave, Simms/Ken Caryl area. She is wearing bells on both legs, with
narrow, leather flight jesses containing pin-prick holes,
I'm on my way to Monte Vista and the Sandhill Crane Festival via 285. Spotted 5
Ferruginous and one Rough-legged Hawk on pole and fence post from the pass to
hwy 9. If you are heading this way road is clear and dry. Beautiful blue and
white day.

Just a quick note to let folks (who might actually be traveling in
this storm), that all three Rosy-Finches are here in my yard, plus one
sub-species I guess one might call a Hepburn's, huh? Anyway, Brown-
capped, Gray-crowned (including several Hepburn's) and Black Rosy-
Finches are here...right
