Greetings All,
Whilst it is hard to say what might be the size of a California Gull, with a
relatively dark back and pink legs, such would not be a Western Gull. A Western
Gull would dwarf a California Gull. I am not sure what other options exist,
except aberrancy in some more common species.
Went camping down at Lake Pueblo State Park earlier this week. Woke
up one morning to the most amazing song. First, a northern
mockingbird. I know that sound very well, having grown up down south
with mockingbird song often all night long in early summer. Then a

I met up with Cole Wild after he called me about some interesting
Gulls. While we were there we saw a dark backed Gull at Lake Loveland late
this afternoon. When seen in flight it had noticeable pink legs. When
seen at the water it was about the size of a California Gull and a little

Went up to the mountains today for some St. Patrick's Day birding. Was
hoping to find Barrow's Goldeneyes still at the Blue River Water Treatment
Plant, but no dice. Numbers of ducks there were down 90% from four weeks
ago -- just a couple of Mallards, Gadwall, and Ring-necked Ducks.

Recently, on an art and photo place I frequent, someone had posted an
image of a Western Meadowlark. I know sexes are very similar and heard
mostly they're differentiated by behavior or the like.
The picture below is of the Meadowlark and I was curious if you guys
thought it was a male
