I heard a Broad-tailed Hummingbird in my yard on sunday,4/8. I went around the
corner of my house to see if it was feeding on the flowering Redbud tree[which
is in full bloom 3 weeks earlier than other years]. I did not see the hummer.
This Hummingbird is the earliest arrival ever at my hous
Things of late at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins (Larimer) have not been
particularly rare, the one exception being the first-mentioned below, but they
have certainly been interesting.
Today (4/9) I had juvenile Northern Goshawk. In my judgment, none of the field

Hi All
Birded the dam at Bonny Reservoir today. no wind, cool temps - should have
been brilliant..
Still a little water, scads of dead fish, (an awful stench),

The only reason I'm reporting this Say's Phoebe is because I just saw several
posts reporting them today. When I was at Boulder Reservoir this afternoon, I
saw my FOS. Guess this is the Say's Day.

A Townsend's Solitaire has been visiting my bird bath for the past few
days. The strange thing (to me) is that this bird visits about every
half hour to forty-five minutes and sits there for a couple of minutes
taking several sips. I've never seen such a "thirsty" bird. I rarely

A few birders were out at Pueblo Reservoir this morning, scoping the birds on
the lake carefully, and there was no sign of the alternate plumaged Red-necked

We have been invaded by Eurasian Collared-Doves! On Sat, I photographed an

Chatfield State Park, today, was a delight with wonderful weather and
varied avian observations! Cynthia Madsen and I scouted the park

Yesterday two very tame Toulouse geese wandered into the yard of a
friend near 75th and South Boulder Road. They were caught and are now
at a small farm on 75th Street (waiting for the owner to claim them).
They are in good hands and in the company of other assorted fowl.

I'll have to look closer at our Jackrabbits--we get them at our pile of
Cracked Corn we put out.
