I spent about an hour at CU East campus today, after finishing my last final of
the semester earlier this morning, and it was very slow. A nice mix of swallows
and a single chimney swift, I had twenty plus two days ago at the same
location, were about the only migrants until I heard an

RMBO Banding report for Chico Basin Ranch (El Paso Co), Thursday 5/10/2012
Cool and calm start, and many birds were moving, but appeared to be moving OUT
at sunrise. A small wave of new warblers arrived about 830, and they moved out
too. A third small wave occurred about 11am.
Started the day with 2 semi-rarities for the banding station - a Redstart
and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. Other cool captures included 4 birds banded
in prior years, including a Yellow Warbler, banded as an adult in 2006, who
we have caught every year. (So, 8 or more years old!) Here's the

Hello Birders,
I spent almost all day yesterday at the Pawnee National Grasslands. I got
some excellent tips from Peter Gent. Actually, to call them tips is an
understatement; they were more like directions of precise places to look
for my target species. Thanks so much, Peter!

super-special in terms of rarity.
Highlights:
Broad-tailed Hummingbird female apparently getting webbing or old cottonwood
seed fluff from mid-trunk bark of a Northern Hackberry and then zooming off
