Lisa Edwards and I found FIVE immature Buff-breasted Sandpipers at Prewitt
Reservoir on Sunday. All five birds were in the damp mud FAR out at the
southwest end. From the high and dry boat launch walk towards I-76
keeping the reservoir to your left.

I hadn't seen a Lewis's woodpecker in the Boulder area for a few years and thus
was pleased to find one working over a fence post along W. Coal Creek Dr. about
1/3 mi E of its intersection with 66th St. (This is in grassland between
Marshall Lake and Superior.)
Other migrants out this morning
Sarah Burbank and I went to find this beautiful bird this morning. We walked
along the dirt path by the fence as previously described, but didn't go far
enough initially. We were on the opposite side of the park, up on a hill when

( BCLP) this morning started just after 6:30 A.M.
Highlight of the morning was a washed yellow Northern Waterthrush near
the inlet where Turkey Creek enters the lake. We had great looks - it

Van Truan and I birded a few Pueblo area spots this morning. It was cloudy for
most of it, which was good.
Pueblo City Park (mostly along the Frisbee Golf Course Creek)

Finished off the holiday weekend with another interesting day of birds and
visitors. Thanks to everyone who came out and shared ideas and enthusiasm
about the interesting migration we have had so far. We continue to see more
Townsend's than usual, in the nets and in the trees. Another warbler
I saw the largest flock of Golden-crowned Kinglets yesterday I've ever seen,
even when living in the maritime NW. I was hiking up to Sky Pond and I was
at about 10,200' I believe. There were dozens of them, and impossible to
get an accurate count. But what was surprising was it didn't appear to
