Hello birders,
Nothing new to report, but Barb I did see two scoters yesterday at
Prospect Lake, Colorado Springs.
The weather forecast 60 mph winds for Boulder on Tuesday, so Barb I drove
south to Colorado Springs, where the weather was much more mild, with winds
of only 55 mph. Oh well,
Cobirders,
There were no Black Scoters at the reservoir this morning. The Pacific Loon
continues with a smattering of coots and goldeneyes.
Good birding,
Steve Stachowiak

I realize this isn't a bird but still very cool.
There wasn't just 1, there was 3.
Wish the photos were better but I was shooting thru a window and screen.

Cobirders,
I want to share some important news with you, the Colorado Field

partnership that allows members of either organization to gain some of the
benefits of being in both the CFO and WFO. While the Boards of both
A check of Hamilton Reservoir off Buckeye Road by the Rawhide Power Plant in
northern Larimer County showed at least 6 Tundra Swans continuing in the
southwest corner, as viewed from the Observation Area above the south shore.
When I first arrived, two were much closer than usual about half
A check of Douglas Res in Larimer County north of Fort Collins today showed the

the past week have apparently moved on. A few Bonaparte's Gulls and fair
number of Common Goldeneyes persist at the extreme north end.
During the past month, I've checked Aurora Reservoir (east of the Denver
metro area in Arapahoe County; fee area) 3 times, each time during the
mid-to-late afternoon. No ice has formed on the lake yet. Several 100
gulls have been lounging in the marina area during the afternoon. Most of

From 2:00 - 3:15 this afternoon, I visited South Platte Reservoir (about 15
minutes), and Eaglewatch Lake (basically, main lake north of the bathrooms

of a very cooperative common loon in the SE corner of the
COBirders,
Late this afternoon just before sunset at Big Johnson reservoir there was at
least one adult MEW GULL. There was also an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED and

saw a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER which I believe is not one
This afternoon I visited 3 gull hangouts - Larimer landfill, Horseshoe
Reservoir and Boyd Lake Swim Beach (state park pass required). The highlight
was multiple Lesser Black-backed Gulls at each location (7 in total). A flock
of more than 30 Bonaparte's Gulls bounced between the two lakes. Best
I haven't been following CObirds carefully in the past few weeks, so I was
dismayed that I had missed the very informative discussion on the African
Collared-Dove. Early last week, a white dove flew into my front yard with
about 15 Eurasian Collared-Doves, which had their usual color. The
