Living in Ouray, I haven't birded a lot on the Eastern Slope, but I met Joe at
the Ross's Gull at Cherry Creek and ran into him a couple of other times, too.
He was, as everyone has said, cheerful, helpful, and knowledgeable. He we was
the only birder from CoBirds who ever paid any

Those of us in far parts of the state appreciate knowing what's around. I like
having the opportunity to chase a bird if I want to, even though I have no
state list. When I visit friends on the Front Range, it's good to know what
birds are where.
That birders withhold information is,

I was at Sinton Pond for more than an hour around noon and did not see the
Lucy's Warbler. Two female Hooded Mergansers were on the pond, a Cooper's Hawk
flew from tree to tree, and a dozen Yellow-rumped Warblers were present. A few
Song Sparrows were about, too. And I found a single

Judy Scheig found a Chukar in a yard at 3620 11th Avenue, Congress Park, Denver
at about 10:30 A.M. January 27. The bird was still there at 11:45. Photos.
There doesn't appear to be a band, but the bird did allow some approach to
about twenty feet. It didn't fly.

I know this is off-topic, but I didn't know what other resource to use. I have
just returned from birding in Bhutan and converted the tour guide to being a
birder. I gave him a bird book, and said I'd send him binoculars. Does anyone
have a decent extra pair to donate to this cause? Or
