[debian] Accerlerom. stop on movement, known issue / only for me?
Hello, I remember there was a thread about accelerometers in Debian and I think they should not work correctly. I can't find it any more. So I recently played around with the accelerometers using Debian and found _some_ output from both /dev/input/event2 and event3. It seems not to be realistic what I receive from the hexdump, and when I move the FR the whole Output is stuck. This also happens when I use the python or perl script from the wiki. So I just wanted to check if this is the behavior caused by the accelerometers not working yet? Or are accelerometers in Debian fixed and this is only happening to me? What it does: Start the App and the phone sounds like a LightSaber Extending and then Humming (You know, Like StarWars) Swing the Phone Around and it sounds like you're having a LightSaber Fight. Features so Far: Sound, Vibration, and The Power Button LED flashes Blue on Swings. Todo list: Work on the GUI (Currently just a big exit button) add buttons to extend and retract Saber ( so you don't have to exit the program to stop the sounds ) And some sort of graphic or image of a Light Saber. Out of date, please update me
Dear community, I am in the list now since before the release of GTA01 and used to read most of the messages. After the release of GTA02 a huge flame war started and after some mails regarding the future of OM I was unsettled and decided to wait for a while. The amount of mail per day increased and I could not read all of them any more. So now I'm really not up to date and am not sure what's all about. I hope someone could answer me a few questions... :) - I'm developing a lot with OpenGL these days, is there any way to get a usable 3d performance on the GTA02 today/plans for the future? - Is there any major issue with the GTA02 hardware (e.g. possibility of getting destroyed hardware by the battery or whatever) - I know staff won't tell me much about GTA03, but I hope to just get the information if the case design will be different? I'm fine if one could tell me if it will be _not_ egg-shaped and will have _no_ hardware keyboard (just like the GTA01/02 but not egg-shaped). I don't like the design... Maybe there is a rough painting or something? - What about the OS thing? When I stopped reading there were messages saying the core of OM will be decided and programmed by OM internals. What is the status now, what is done by OMs only? - Maybe there is a information page about the GTA03 and I just didn't find it, is there? To prevent people from flaming about my questions about GTA03: It's 90% sure that I will buy a GTA02 as I was searching the web for weeks and could not find any other device like the FR. And as I still use my Nokia 3410 it's time to get a new mobile device now. GTA03 is not available yet, so there's only the GTA02 left. I just hope to have a preview on the GTA03 to decide if I will look for different devices or just wait for the GTA03 to come out after getting the GTA02. Thanks for all your comments! Re: Whats up with the freerunner mass production?
I would like to know that, too. I have pretty good connection to China and Taiwan, so I could easily arrange to get a Freerunner directly from there... If you plan to ship phones to China from the US (or anywhere else) you'll have to get an CCC certificate in order to get this working properly... Need a Cellphone now...
Hi list! I wonder if it's possible to run Openmoko on other handhelds than the Neo/Freerunner. Actually I need a new phone ASAP. As I already mentioned I don't need the complete functionality immediately. Making and receiving calls would be enough... I already searched the web for some kind of phone-comparer, but the only one I found did not offer the filters I need. Does anyone of you know a phone with the following specs? The Freerunner covers them all, but is still not available. If there's any smartphone covering the specs below, and we could run Openmoko on it, please let me know! Must have: - Wireless Lan - GPRS/EDGE/UMTS - Bluetooth - GPS - USB with host-mode - High Quality Stereo Soundcard - High Resolution Touchscreen - Less or no Buttons - Fast CPU - Not too less memory - Extensionslot for SD/microSD or whatever Nice to have: - Acceleration-sensor - DVB-T Receiver - Multitouch - Camera - 2 Sim slots I'm not sure if I missed something... Clarify openmoko != Neo1973
Dear list, I often read sentences like I think I'll buy an Openmoko in comments to news about Openmoko and the Neo1973. So how could we clarify what Openmoko actually is (a Linux distribution), and what it's not (a smartphone). Even the commercial website of Openmoko (openmoko.com) leaves the impression to me of Openmoko being a smartphone instead of being a Linux distribution *for smartphones like the Neo1973*. Well, at least this is my impression... Best regards, Daniel PS: I guess all these news are from members of this list. So maybe you could add a sentence to all your news? Something like: Openmoko is a linux distribution developed for mobile devices. The first device it will run on is the FIC Neo1973. ___ OpenMoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
