Re: [Shr-User] Please add QT to feeds, was: libQTxml.so.4

2009-09-11 Thread Ronald Tallent
Okay, I've finished my testing of Keepassx. Couldn't find any bugs and
most everything worked as expected. There are some quirks though, and
some obvious settings options that don't apply like minimize to tray
and such but they don't seem to break the app even if applied. To be
truly functional it would require some horizontal scroll bars in a
couple places: namely, the settings dialog options (though if one has
the desktop version it can be used as a reference for setting options),
and most importantly the main accounts pane. Also for aesthetics it
would be nice if the window title showed Keypassx instead of the path
to the open DB, but that's not essential.

Even the automatic DB locking after timeout worked which is nice in case
you forget to close the app. The Autotype feature did NOT work as
expected but I didn't play with it much. I'm sure it can be tweaked to
select the appropriate window but I don't use that feature much. The
copy username/password to clipboard options do work though so Autotype
isn't essential.

Is it possible that the new QT4 libraries broke my WiFi or was that
something else? After upgrading every time I try to connect to the wifi
it locks up my device and the aux light starts flashing red. Have to
remove the batter to get up and running. How would I revert to the old
QT4 to check that?

Ron

It's a bug that I reported to trolltech several months ago, fixed in
4.5.2, there is no hope actually to have that stuff in shr-feeds,
waiting further for shr-import push to oe-dev.

Anyway if you test keepassx and it works quite fine we may declare it
usable and add it to the next Community Updates.

I do not think qt4 may influence wifi (anyway there is a possibility
if you use nwa as wifi manager, if this is the case before downgrading
just opkg remove nwa opkg install nwa from the new feed).
To revert you have to manually remove the qt libraries, change the
feed to the older and reinstall the libs.

I tried to install that qtconfig, but there are a lot of dependencies

The configuration file is $HOME/.config/Trolltech.conf, lowering fonts

Try editing it manually, or install qt4-common package without deps,
or if you trust my feeds add
 src/gz noko-testing-armv4t
 http://noko.sourceforge.net/testing/om2009/armv4t to your opkg
configuration and take the entire qt metapackage with opkg install
qt4-x11-free, it should work with SHR too and should not break your
system or require missing dependencies as is built on the fso
 milestone5.5 branch.
You'll find a couple of foreign applications too, but I suggest to
ignore them as they are highly unstable and may burn your freerunner
 :)

However the best way to change look of qt4 applications is using CSS,
it's easy and powerfull, and should work with *every* qt application
that does not use deeply hardcoded gui values.
I'll take a look at keypassx to see if its look is easy adaptable!

Thanks for fixing that up for us Nicola. Having Keepass on a Freerunner will
be totally awesome. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It installed
properly and it does indeed load as you said above, but it doesn't handle
new windows. So if you mistype your password, the error box gets thrown into
the background and essentially locks up the app so you have to use the kill
command on it. Opening up any entry does the same thing. Not useful as an
app if you can't open your entries. Don't know if I'm the only one with this
problem or if there's an easy fix, but I sure would like to have this
working and see it added to the SHR feeds even.

BTW, I'm using a fresh install of the latest SHR build on a gta02.

Already did that Nicola... same result: all new Keepass windows appear
behind the main app and do not show up in the task-switcher.

If there's anything else you'd like me to try I'm happy to do any
testing that might help get KeepassX to work.

Ok, try changing the noko feed in:
http://noko.sourceforge.net/testing/shr-experimental/armv4t

opkg update opkg upgrade should upgrade qt from 4.4.3 to 4.5.2

It's a dirty experiment to have 4.5.2 in shr.
May you report if it works?

Hey it worked! The upgrade updated three packages: libqtcore4, libqtxml4 and
libqtgui4. After that Keepass worked beautifully. Error messages popped up
properly and was able to view/edit entries and change settings. All the
Keepass dialog boxes were selectable via Enlightenment task switcher as
well. Haven't discovered yet if the qt 4.5.2 will break any other apps yet
though.

Thanks so much for the help!

We are lucky, keypassx is easily theamable with stylesheets, only some
parts seem to be hardcoded (e.g. big titles), I do not have the time
to dig deeply, but I'm quite sure it's only a matter of def/undef
somethings as it run on WinCe too.

I quick packaged it, adding a very minimal stylesheet (just one line
:) to lower fonts and replaced .desktop and the xpm icon with a png as
on my om2009 it was not shown.

To install add my feed, update and install keepassx, to modify the
font-size just edit /usr/share/keepassx/qt4.style.

Important: I just verified it starts, did not played with it, some
dependencies may be missing as I already had the full qt4 on my FR.
