Re: Moving to Google Groups

2006-01-30 Thread Antonio Rodríguez
I subscribed to the new list in my second mail account by sending a
blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED], and go the
exact same message instead of a subscription confirmation. But I just
waited, and now I'm receiving messages. It looks just like an (anoying)
bug in Google Groups.

Greetings,

Antonio Rodríguez (Grichan)

Hello [EMAIL PROTECTED],
We recently received a request from you to subscribe to the group Vintage Macs.
We know you are excited about this group, but it looks like you are already

If you have questions related to this or any other Google group, please visit
the Help Center at http://groups.google.com/support.

Now I truly am confused. Was I automatically subscribed during the change over?
If so why the excitement about re-subscribing from Dan Knight?

I just wait around a while unless someone has a proper spelling for
compact?macs-subscribe.

It appears that I have avoided reading and signing that long
disclaimer in the tiny window from the Google site. Perhaps I can get
away with communication <-> China.

There is no "compact macs" list any longer.

Now there is only one list: vintage-macs. This combined the Compact
Mac (this list), Vintage Mac, and Quadlist from Maclaunch into one
unified list.

You want "vintage-macs-subscribe", but it looks like you've already
done that.

It wants me to create a basic Google account with email, real name, and
password. After that it might allow a different email address for the list.

Is it possible to use email to a list manager address to get started?

Is it browser sensitive? I'm using iCab on OS 9.1.

Any one have detailed instructions ready to read? I'm not sure I want my
coordinates on a Google account while I may still need a security clearance.

Why not?

It let me subscribe using this verizon.net address.

Perhaps you aren't doing something correctly. *any* valid e-mail

I had an SE/30 up for years as an ftpd, though.

The other real issue is listserv software- mail is not the kindler
gentler internet world it used to be, and software for the old
listserv solutions is unlikely to be secure enough for use today.
Not in terms of "hacking root" on a box without root :) but in terms
of vulnerability in the mail protocol as regards spam.

Pass. Sorry.

If we get too much, we could suggest re-division. But I suspect that
traffic is a fraction of what it was a couple of years ago.
