This sounds like Philadelphia and IMS most of the transmitters are
grouped near each other in Roxborough on a high spot. Get the vectors
from antenna web and a compass to point the antenna correctly.

Subject: [CGUYS] XP Reinstall

It looks like I'll have to reinstall my Windows XP operating system in
the near future. Is there a simple program that can document and print
out a copy of all the existing programs I currently have on the
computer? I want to keep track of the ones I have added without having
to write down each one.

Second, any suggestions for the best way to backup files in preparation
for the reinstall? I tried backing up to a 160GB Seagate external drive
but it stopped at 4GB, which apparently is the limit for FAT32. One
thought is to buy a second internal harddrive and just copy everything
over to it and then after reinstall, use the second hard drive as
permanent data storage, with the primary drive holding the operating
system. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Richard P.

Yes, just buy a new hard drive and install to that. Keep the whole old
drive as a backup.

Monumental waste of time "keeping track of the programs you
installed". You should have the programs you USE on your C partition
and that should be imaged daily.

[CGUYS] classic movie downloads

2008-03-22 Thread Tony B
I was helping a neighbor with her new broadband today and she's into
classic movies. So I started telling her about the internet. But
everything we could scare up on a Google search seems to want you to
watch stuff on their site.

Is anyone aware of any sites that are geared toward downloading and
burning DVDs? I'm not talking about warez here; just public domain
classic movies.

Re: [CGUYS] can't view YouTube -- was ubuntu and gnucash

2008-03-22 Thread Robert
As I mentioned in previous messages, I can't see any YouTube videos or
flashes but can view flash from other sites. As an addendum, I am
unable to use the travel site SideStep http://www.sidestep.com/ because
it works OK until the search is completed and the results to be
displayed disappear from view.

Having already cleared the cookies & cache from Firefox, I now want to
try to uninstall both JavaScript and Adobe ShockWave Player and then
reinstall (and running a registry cleaner before reinstall).

How do I remove JavaScript? (I have already Googled this question
without help.)

Windows XP Add or Remove Programs shows the following installed:

J2 SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 1
J2 SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
J2 SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
J2 SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Adobe Atmosphere Player for Acrobat and Adobe Reader
Adobe Flash Player ActiveX
Adobe Flash Player Plugin
Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0
Adobe Reader 8.1.2
Adobe Reader Chinese Traditional Fonts
Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0
Adobe Shockwave Player

Removing Shockwave Player is obvious, but what about the Java listings
for removal? All or some? I am listing above all Java & Adobe software
installed on my computer that is recognized by Add and Remove Programs.

The software executables pertaining to Java that I have downloaded &
saved for installation are: install_flash_player.exe and
Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe

That looks like a good direction for troubleshooting. First clear out any
and all preference settings and registry entries. If that fails I would
try a complete uninstall of all all Shockwave components followed with a
fresh install. You should be able to find a tech note at Adobe on these
things.

I'm not sure but I think the Google rules that you refer to pertain
mainly if you post your pictures as "Public Albums". You can also make
your Google album, albums or individual pictures private at the time of

Supports Mac, Linux, and even Windows.
