He may have had an image backed up somewhere that he could download. But AFAIK MS doesn't sell the OS via download. Actually, they do. I assumed that he was looking for a free replacement copy, which is why I mentioned MSDN etc., but MS does sell Vista for downloading here:

You make an image of your windows install disk, nlite then can take service packs, drivers, programs and integrate them into the install and then you have nlite create a new image from all these parts. Then when you install all drivers, programs and service packs are already installed. Mike On
