I think it’s probably the more experienced dancers that have trouble initially with a CCW progression. Most new dancers just go where the dance puts them, and they don’t think about it too much otherwise. That said, many leftward progressions are just “slide left, circle” or “circle 3/4, pass throug
Now I want an imprecisely crooked version of Fairport Harbor where you keep promenading the same direction the second time as the first, looping the entire set until you reach your partner again.Partner, Nth shadow, where N is the number of couples in the set, same thing really.Isaac BOn Jul 19, 20
I suppose the A2 should read “(partner 2 right)” and the B1 “New new partner
pass right” as well.

Mixer in Summerland
Becket Mixer
A1
Robins alle right 1.5, while larks slide left one place
New neighbor swing
A2
Circle left 3/4 to a short wave (partner right)
Short waves balance, pass through
B1
New partner pass right to start full hey
B2
I’ve gone ahead and created a shortlink with CURLS, which should be more
memorable than the tinyurl link:

I've had another caller, who I'll leave unnamed, explicitly tell me that they
never call more than one dance in an evening without a neighbor swing. I don't
think I'm as stringent in that regard, but it's definitely informed my dance
choreography.

Greg you're very quickly going to come up against a group of vocal callers
which *insist *a dance has to be XX% unique from any other sequence ever

Generally speaking, I'd agree tha
1%, etc. I think maybe endorsements from widely trusted callers might be a way to handle this? Ideally someone who has heard you call a ton and is confident enough to put their own reputation on the line in vouching for you?JeffOn Thu, Mar 16, 2023 at 3:05 PM Isaac Banner via Contra Callers <contr
As someone who works full-time and has repeatedly reached out to weekend
organizers in the past and gotten the standard "Oh, are you calling any
weekends soon?" and "It would be good if you could tour through [X/Y/Z
multi-city sprawling metro area] so dancers could get familiar with you." ... I
Not quite to the letter but perhaps the theme of the prompt, a while back I
wrote a 28-bar dance meant to be danced to a standard 32-bar tune:
_*Bar Crawl - Isaac Banner*_
*A1*
(8) Neighbor allemande RH 1.5 to trade places
- LH to next neighbor to form a long wave
(8) Long waves balance
There's a strong demonstrable benefit, especially to beginners, for choosing
terms starting with L for left and R for right, while still sticking to the
one-syllable/two-syllable pattern for existing dancer's sake.
(I figured you might be joking, but wanted to clarify for others at least)

Why wait, let’s hook this up to the text-to-speech engine from Moonbase Alpha and we’re in **business** - “Tonight’s callers are ChatGPT and Perfect Paul, please be patient with them they’re only just starting out.”Not a robot,IsaacOn Jan 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM, Julian Blechner via Contra Callers w

Yeah, that was a part of the deep dive I went on. The biggest hangup there is
that I use 55mmx90mm (about 2.25x3.5) index cards for my dances today, so I'd
have to buy a set of 3x5in cards and find a way to chop them in half. My
makerspace has a sheet metal brake an
Now I'm mostly just grumpy because I got all excited about Edge-notched
Cards and spent a good 30-45 minutes frustratingly discovering there's
nowhere to get these for a reasonable cost/scale anymore...
