Dear coworking peoples,
I've been thinking about doing a tour of coworking places in different
cities. Because JetBlue is offering an all-you-can fly deal for $599,
this might be a good opportunity to actually do it.

So, if you are open to me
I would certainly come - would I be in the States.
You make me think about doing similar over here in Germany (by train
or bus).
A really cool idea to learn from each other and expand the ties:-)

It already says it'll open Sept 1, under the hours of operation on
the bottom right of the homepage. The homepage main text says August,
but that seems to just be for pre-opening tours, etc.

We do offer drop-ins, but have/have had very few of them--so, not
enough to have that variety flavor to which Tony alludes. On the

Brian,
You may want to check with Jerome in LA. When I visited, he mentioned
some media using Blankspaces. souk doesn't experience many media
types coming through, so I can't speak to it for you.

Drop-ins not only make up a fair part of our revenue, but as I've mentioned
to Tony, have a fairly high conversion rate to membership. Because our basic
membership is priced at the same rate as our daily rate, it's pretty easy to
say if you are going to come back again any time this month, it

Hey Brian,
We have one journalist working at Office Nomads (Charles Redell of
Sustainable Industries), and one publisher (Mike Jones of Morgan
Claypool).
I know we've had a few others come and drop in from time to time in
those industries as well, but those are the two that come to mind
right
As the aforementioned journalist at Office Nomads, I can tell you that one
of the biggest reasons that journalists likely don't populate coworking
spaces more is that people tend not to value our work anymore. I don't want
to turn this into a scree about how you all should subscribe to your local
We calculate our numbers around monthly members and focus our efforts there
as it's the best way to build community. We want folks in the space, day

for folks to try out the space and make sure it's a good fit. It's not
This is the 80/20 rule in action. Honestly to have a 20% conversion
rate should be applauded, and to have 1/3 of that 80% pay the day rate
is pretty good as well.

Great idea, Hillary! Always good to remind commuters of the benefits
of coworking, particularly when commuting gets a big kink in it like a
BART strike. :) We tried to do the same when we had bridge
construction over here in Seattle, but didn't see too many results, as
we didn't Tweet much
