I am having trouble with IE6 not displaying the entire header of my
design. The header only contains a div for the upper navigation which is
positioned absolutely and I am using a background image which contains
my logo. The entire page is displaying perfectly in Firefox but IE is

I just started uploading the code for the cart design I've been working
on and have discovered that in one of the views the left menu is jumping
on top of the content and pushing the right column content to the bottom.
I have stared at this for hours but can't figure out why it isn't
working.
I need checks on Macs and in IE7 mainly, but I would love as many checks as
possible. Our CMS software adds some tables and extra code that I am wading
through, but I think it's only affecting styling, hopefully the main layout
is stable. Screenshots would be helpful if you notice any problems.

Keepin existing styles as is, and placing the following addition _after_
existing styles for #SOWrap, should fix IE6 and IE7 - without disturbing
any other browser...
* html #SOWrap

Had a quick look, the tables and layout seem to be consistent across the
browsers i checked in, Opera, IE6/7, FF1.5 and 2.0. One thing I noticed
is the quotes under the heading have

except that the columns/footer stuff are _way_ down the page.

I have an element that gets floated up on top of the right column of my
layout. The right column has a left border and I can't figure out how to get
the image to float on TOP of the border. I've tried changing around the
z-index on several of the elements and changed margins and such, but it just

The page has a variable width from 750 px to 1100 px so what
size do I make the solid background image that goes into the
outer wrapper that will allow the center content to expand

If your max-width is 1100px, make it 1100px wide. More or
I have my layout working fairly well now, thanks to Georg and others. There
are just two issues left.
First, the layout works great if the center column is the longest, as this
example shows http://www.wonderbabydesigns.com/testing/center.htm , but,
when the left or right columns are longest,

that won't work with my large gradient background images. I left the

Sure, you can make it work. Create one image
Someone just helped me with something similar to this. They added in a div
for the picture after a clearing div under the columns and then used a
negative bottom margin to put the item at the bottom of the column.
Add the image div between here after your columns

is it this one??

I like the negative-margins based layout better, but I guess that's just
me :-)
I did prefer the negative margins layout (much simpler code) but I was
having an easier time getting the background images into the Skidoo

Hello there! I have recently taken on the task of a newly designed website
for a non-profit I work with. I was given an image from our graphic designer
(who has no experience with web design) and I got it to work pretty well
with a combination of tables and css until she finally got me the
