In a nutshell, the situation is that a claimed harmless tooth-decay-preventative which is therapeutically UNPROVEN- (unproven... as in "not proven" as in NO PROOF.. unproven OK?) - but is chemically known commercially to be a biochemical poison is being FORCED upon people- against their expressed will as VOTERS... not to mention their "freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Do you find nothing wrong with this picture?! STUDIES are basically IMMATERIAL- with regard to the BASIC QUESTION of individual rights and Sovereignty vs. CREEPING FASCISM/plutocracy/NWO. Do I ( you, and you, and you...) HAVE or HAVE NOT the basic right to NOT BE FORCED to consume what the FDA calls an "unapproved drug or additive" and the EPA calls it a "contaminant?" (although a scientific opinion is hardly necessary to determine the people's right to choose whether or not to drink RAT POISON) Or do an HONEST and unbiased test of your own. The "endless patter" shows an endless PATTERN- of disinformation and conspiracy on the part of the Federal government (and their Agents in our midst) starting from the time of the Manhattan Experiment and continuing to THIS day. The U.S. is the ONLY State which is so dedicated to fluoridation- many other nations without the U.S.'s agenda of covering up long-known information that came out of Atom bomb-correlated experiments with regard to the toxicity of fluoride are NOT BUYING the U.S. government and ADA sponsored propaganda on fluoridation. CHECK IT OUT ! Several Federal agencies are not TOO wrapped up in the coverup and the promotion of poisoning the populace with fluoride, which is kind of striking considering that ONE of these is heavily implicated in many other similar conspiracies- though most of these are tied to public industry- notably Monsanto and the pharmaceutical industry as a whole- obviously this culprit is FDA. FDA is ON RECORD as having classified Fluoride a "NON-APPROVED" additive or adulterant. FDA on FLUORIDE: "NON-APPROVED" So- we have the ADA claiming FDA approval- which is a bald-faced LIE. Next we have EPA. EPA on Fluoride: "toxic waste" ADA also claims EPA "approval" for fluoridation... which is a bald-faced LIE. QED: ADA is a pack of criminals and liars as are others who are politically active in furthering this fascist social control mechanism. Such as 'ole Abe(hole) and probably a very long list of academicians and social planners... if we follow Abe around, we'll find quite a few of the culprits, no doubt. If you want more scientific "data" or whatever- YOU supply it. I am convinced of the data, and am more interested in the political ramifications of forced administration of a substance known to cause a lowering of IQ among other symptoms such as Fluorosis which is ACCEPTED as a "side effect" by EVERY party to the conflict on BOTH sides- although the professional government-apologist/ professional disinformationist calls it a "minor" side effect (aside from the fact that dental fluorosis is a precursor and indicator of Skeletal fluorosis) and "acceptable risk" (risk assessment is impossible here- NO STUDY has EVER shown a positive correlation between SODIUM FLUORIDE in drinking water and lower cavities- IN FACT studies have shown THE EXACT OPPOSITE- therefore the a "risk assessment" shows an INFINITE risk in the face of NO BENEFIT- except the benefit of turning a toxic waste byproduct of the Nuclear industry, the aluminum industry, and the artificial fertilizer industry into a useful tool in the "dumbing down" of America, which proceeds apace- due to a peculiar apathy and short-sightedness ... which is oddly enough- consonant with the use of sodium fluoride administered in drinking water by Nazi's to prison camp internees- and with neurotoxicological information available. ABC Television reported in their late news that railway controllers had experienced a "system failure" where they were unable to control the track switches, no matter what they tried. Some Kosovar Albanians have executed hundreds of Kosovar Serbs in their cities, towns and villages since NATO occupied Kosovo. Some Kosovar Albanians have killed Kosovar Serbs with mortar attacks right under the nose of NATO troops, but NATO says it can't find the responsible parties. Some Kosovar Albanians executed 14 Kosovar Serbian farmers in their fields, and all that NATO could do was try to provide security for their funerals. Some Kosovar Albanians have desecrated and destroyed scores of Kosovar Serbian churches, but NATO can't protect these houses of worship either. They have murdered Kosovar Serbian priests and they have raped nuns, but NATO claims it is powerless to prevent these crimes against humanity. This is the same NATO that said its bombs, dropped from 15,000 ft., could prevent equally sad atrocities against Kosovar Albanians just a few months ago. Since NATO became the warlord of Kosovo, some Kosovar Albanians have looted and burned thousands of Kosovar Serbian homes, offices, factories, stores and farms. Since NATO sent in troops to "guarantee" the safety of the Kosovar Albanians, hundreds of thousands of Kosovar Serbs have been ethnically cleansed from their homes. All NATO has done is to make sure that the convoys of Kosovar Serbs fleeing their ancestral home get safe passage out of Kosovo. Is this the result that anyone wanted at the end of NATO's dirty little war? Is the rape of Kosovo worth the billions of dollars, thousands of innocent deaths, and 12,000 NATO bombs? The deliberate muddying of these two separate subjects is a favorite tactic of creationists and other sophists. Lester Coleman, who was convicted of perjury last year, had the verdict overturned last month. He is living with his wife and three children in Kentucky and in the past few days has launched an action for $10m against the American government. Three judges issued a sealed ruling, an unusual step which means that not even Coleman and his lawyers can read why they quashed his conviction. Reporting restrictions also ensured the case received little attention in the United States. Coleman was dismissed as a conman by American investigators and the Scottish Crown Office when he expressed a theory that an American intelligence-controlled drug-running operation had facilitated the loading of a bomb on Pan Am flight 103. The bomb exploded over Lockerbie on December 21, 1988, killing 270 people. Two Libyans are to be tried for the mass murder by a Scottish court in Holland next year. Coleman was ostracized by his bosses and found himself facing charges of applying for a passport in a false name and committing perjury in an action heard some years before. The passport application, he said, had been made under orders from his bosses at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). When he found he could not reach his superiors, he decided to flee the country. He and his family were granted political asylum in Sweden in 1990. In 1994 they moved to Spain. Coleman's story - that American agents were allowing deliveries of drugs on transatlantic flights in a sting operation which allowed terrorists to switch a case containing drugs for one holding a bomb - was widely discredited. Coleman's credibility took a severe knock in 1993 when the publishers of "The Trail of the Octopus," a book he cowrote about the bombing, had to pay substantial libel damages. The American authorities went to great lengths and huge expense to discover his whereabouts and to seek his extradition. I have discovered that some persons operating Net groups in the mindcontrol domain are encouraging persons that they know are suffering from mental illness to protest to the government as persons being subjected to non-lethal weapons device. Further, some of these Net operators actively dissuade these persons from seeking medical treatment that could likely reduce their suffering and chronic brain damage. I see that behavior as highly unethical. Will has stated to me that he is a former consultant to the U.S. National Security Agency and asked me to post this information immediately. He also believes he is in immediate danger because of this information. This type of disinformation is posted to MC-L about every 6 months. The previous one of this type that was similar was posted last New Years Eve . Actually, no consultant to the NSA would have system level information of this simulated type in the first place, David. Hi tech disinformation draws on well written science fiction and often makes allusion to that genre. With the proliferation of Hollywood special effects ladened movies and futuristic TV sci-fi dramas about robots, cyborg, brain implants, even normally thoughtful persons are subject to disinformation operations. Also, there is a general tendency of scientific illiteracy in the US population that adds to the susceptibility. If there are any particular techniques mentioned in the Will Filer document that seem likely to be in functional operation to you or others you know, I would be more that pleased to present my view. There is so much disinformation on the Net now that I am getting much practice. It is not hard for paid professional and retired political operatives to overwhelm the Net groups with disinformation and propaganda. For an interesting example, suppose that you were to post that YOU, DCW are the reembodied Second Coming of the Christ ready to emerge as a millennium Global Savior. Challenge me to prove you are not. Would not that be an endless task!! You could say that you had implants from all of the Adepts and Masters of the Ages. You could speak of the enlightenment epiphanies of your youth and of you contacts with Masters from other lands.

I've often assumed that past a certain age, a workbike operator like myself would become too feeble and have to retire. I noticed, however, in the chapter on Beijing operators in Tony Wheeler's "Chasing Rickshaws" that many of the operators there looked rather elderly. (I'm assuming one reason they keep working in China is they simply can't afford NOT to.) Then a friend of mine gave me the following article from the 7/17/1999 edition of the Omaha World-Herald: Secret to Long Life? Pedal, Pedal, Pedal Hanoi, Vietnam (AP) - Pham Quang Giang pedals 25 miles a day and hasn't seen a doctor in 34 years - not bad for a 95-year old who spends much of his time maneuvering through Hanoi's chaotic traffic. He doesn't have to work. In fact, his 12 surviving children would be happy to support him. But Giang chooses to be independent, so his legs keep pumping away at his "cyclo," Vietnams three-wheel bicycle taxi. Family members have sold his cyclo three times since 1985. Rejecting their advice he should take it easy, he asked them to buy it back each time. "I don't want to rely on them. As long as I can work, I will," Giang said, a broad smile showing off all his own teeth in a face with few wrinkles. Giang has been married four times. He has a 72-year old son and a 30-year-old daughter among his 16 children--four were killed in action in the wars against the French and the Americans. And he has 101 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1981 at age 77, Giang made a 1,100-mile trip on his cyclo from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. It took two months and 11 days. His trips are much shorter these days, but he said passengers trust him because old cyclo drivers have a reputation for being careful. "Sometimes passengers feel sorry for me, but then they see me pedaling, and they say they made a wrong judgment" he said. Asked the secrets for his longevity and good shape, Giang said he has none except: "Always stay happy and be optimistic. You should wipe from your mind all things that may bother you" Born in 1904 in the central province of Quang Nam, Giang grew up in a poor fishing and farming village. He joined the army of the then French colony at 29 but shifted to the Viet Minh, the communist revolutionary army, in 1945. He moved to communist North Vietnam in 1955, a year after the Geneva agreement that divided the country, and worked as a state employee until his retirement in l965 as a manager at a beer company in Hanoi. The city government gave Giang a cyclo in 1978 as a means to support his newly adopted three orphans. He used it to deliver beer, which was rationed to some State-owned food stores around the capital. When rationing ended, he shifted to passengers in the mid-1980s as Vietnam began moving to a market economy. Giang now lives with his fourth wife and two sons. His day starts at 5 a.m. with exercise and meditation followed by a shower and breakfast. He then heads to the main railway station at 8 a.m. to wait for passengers. He has lunch at a sidewalk restaurant and returns home around 6 p.m. On average, he earns the equivalent of $36 a month--not bad in a country where the per-capita income is less than $30 a month. Still, when the ghosts start dancing naked in front of oncoming motorists, it creates quite a stir. The state-run Alwan weekly said Saturday that drivers passing through Horan Valley outside the town of Haditha, 135 miles northeast of Baghdad, were reporting that ``ghosts appeared next to the bridge, naked and doing some acrobatic moves.'' Tales of ghosts in the Horan Valley are common, but these ghosts were ``throwing themselves before cars, causing the drivers to panic,'' the paper said. Alwan quoted motorist Shawki Sabar as saying ``they were almost human -- although I could not concentrate on their looks because I was so scared and it was dark.'' The ghosts were so lifelike that one motorist thought he'd hit a person and reported the accident to police. The newspaper said the police checked the area for a body, but found nothing. Some motorists apparently suspect a less supernatural explanation. According to Alwan, drivers don't brake for ghosts just in case they are really a ploy by thieves to rob cars. The lawsuit, filed against officials the Tecumseh Board of Education and Public School District in Pottawatomie County, is the first federal challenge to a drug and alcohol testing requirement for students in academic courses. The ACLU is asking the court to ban the practice, saying that it violates the students' constitutional right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. At issue is a policy that purportedly requires a urine test of all students in grades 7-12 who sign up for non-athletic extracurricular activities. But some of those activities -- Academic Team, Marching Band and Choir -- are linked to the academic curriculum, and a refusal to take the drug test means no credit for the course and no admission to other activities. For Lindsay Earls and Daniel James, both 16-year-old juniors at Tecumseh High School, that means they are shut out of the demanding courses and activities that now make up their school day -- and that they had planned to include on their college applications. "First, schools wanted to test student athletes, then it was students in extracurricular activities, and now it's students competing in quiz bowls and performing in choir -- where does it end?" said Graham Boyd, Director of the ACLU's Drug Policy Litigation Project and lead counsel for the students. "The district's drug testing policy is more about symbolism than substance," he added. "Tecumseh officials initiated urine testing without any evidence of a drug problem at the school and at a time when government reports show that teen drug use is on the decline nationally." Experts in the fields of medicine and social science agree that policies like Tecumseh's are the wrong approach to preventing drug use. In a 1996 position statement opposing suspicionless drug testing, the American Academy of Pediatrics said that "students and student athletes should not be singled out for involuntary screening for drugs," citing the importance of confidentiality and autonomy for adolescents and lack of accuracy in detecting certain drugs. Earls, a resident of Tecumseh -- a small town 30 miles northwest of Oklahoma City -- said she felt she had no other choice but to consent to the urine test when the program first began last year, because she didn't want to miss out on competing in the Academic Team's quiz bowls or performing in Show Choir and Marching Band. Even more critical, the credit she earns for the courses fulfills the school's fine arts requirement for graduation. The only other option for Earls and other students is a ceramics class or "music appreciation," neither of which involve performance or competition. "I'll take the test again this year if I have to, but I know it's not right and I know it's not fair," Earls said. "That's why I'm fighting it." Daniel James, who also attends Tecumseh High School and lives in the town, said the policy "was like something out of 1984," George Orwell's frightening vision of a society where no one is safe from governmental surveillance. "The policy gives all kinds of people access to my private information when there isn't even any reason to think I'm doing drugs," he said. In fact, as a member of the peer counseling groups Life Guides, James has already voluntarily pledged not to take drugs or alcohol. -Caveat Lector- A year ago, members of the Federal Police, ASIO, entered my home, without a warrant and showed me documentation that gave them the right to download the contents of my hard drive to their portable drive. They hooked into my printer port and in less time than it takes to defrag a drive they had a full copy of my hard drive. I encrypt my hard drive with PGP and I run other encryption programs under that yet again that cover such things as my mailing list and my e-mail contacts, personal folders etc.. It was alleged that because I had been involved with anti-government groups and because I am still anti-government that my hard drive may contain information that was "in the best interest of the State to know". They would have been in for a shock when they tried to hack the system open, I have it booby-trapped to fdisk all fixed drives, that would include their main drive as well as the copy that they had of mine. I was asked for the entry codes, but I forgot the current ones. I then moved all my data that they might use to contact others off of my computer and over-wrote the files several times. In Australia the Police can enter your home without a warrant, copy your hard drive, search the home for weapons and do it all without a warrant. If you want to take this path, then say nothing when your government passes these motions before your parliament. If you desire not to have half a dozen gun packing Feds wander through your home, frightening your wife and kids, then speak up now! We can not even threaten them with a shotgun, well not a pump action or a semi-auto anyway and unless we have a damn good reason for owning a gun, not at all. Che assured Goodwin that in time Cuba would have "free elections, [after] the establishment of a one-party system". Che also said the Cubans were willing to make concessions to the United States, such as agreeing to no "political alliance with the East" although this would not affect their "natural sympathies." Finally, Che thanked Goodwin and Kennedy "for the invasion [that] transformed them from an aggrieved little country to an equal" (p. 79). Goodwin's recommendations to Kennedy were to tighten the economic blockade of Cuba, form "the Caribbean security pact" to deal "with the spread of revolution," and eliminate the "peaceful coexistence which Castro is now trying to create" (p. 74). Che's internationalism in practice was viewed in Washington as even more threatening than the example of the Cuban revolution itself. It is ironic that the CIA's super spooks seemed to be in the dark about Che's whereabouts in 1965-66 when he was first in the Congo and then in Bolivia, fighting revolutions in his attempt to cripple imperialism by creating "two, three, many Vietnams." Che's efforts in the Congo against Mobutu failed, although one of the young leaders of the time, Laurent Kabila, thirty years later led the uprising that finally toppled Mobutu. Che's efforts in Bolivia also failed, in part because his presence was constantly spotted by the U.S. military's heat-seeking infrared devices originally developed by academics at the University of Michigan. Several pages of Che Guevara and the FBI reproduce the misinformed allegations by CIA informants that Che was dead, that Fidel had ordered him executed, that Che was in one or another Third World country, when all the time he was carrying the internationalist revolutionary banner to other lands. A final section of Che Guevara and the FBI shows Goodwin and his aides meeting with New York Times editor Ben Wells a year after Che's death in order to have the Times spread news about a Havana-Moscow split in an effort to undermine both the Cuban and Soviet governments. One Goodwin aide reports "We made every effort to emphasise 'Castro = Trotsky' and emphasised how seriously things must be regarded in Moscow when they applied the name Trotsky in this situation" (p. 212). Like Che, Leon Trotsky, murdered on Stalin's orders in 1940, believed that socialism could not be built in one country alone because, in the words of Ratner and Smith, "the forces of the world market would eventually restore capitalism to the Soviet Union unless the Russian revolution broke out of its isolation and was extended abroad" (p. 202). It had been feared a problem similar to the millennium computer bug would cause the Global Positioning System (GPS) to reset its timing devices, widely used by aircraft, amateur yachtsmen and mountaineers. Coastguards and emergency services worldwide remain on alert but by Sunday morning few problems had been reported. "Just a regular weekend. It's actually been a very slow day," said coastguard Danny Phee in Long Beach, California. The US Air Force said it was satisfied that the system was still operating properly. But problems were reported in Japan where a car navigator manufacturer received about 600 complaints. The electronic screens that help drivers find their route went blank or flashed up strange symbols. Pioneer Corp received about 600 calls on a special hotline, said spokesman Hidehiko Shimizu. Drivers were directed to the nearest repair shop, where their systems were fixed for free. The GPS network relies on more than 20 satellites to pinpoint the user's whereabouts to within a few metres. But in a millennium-style glitch the early satellites had a limited timing device which ran out at midnight GMT on Saturday night and reset to zero. Air Force Space Command said the so-called "end of week rollover" has passed off successfully and the satellites orbiting 11,000 miles (17,700km) above earth were continuing to function normally. "Military and civilian GPS users worldwide can continue to depend on accurate information from the GPS satellites," it said. In a foretaste of the millennium bug that could hit thousands of computers around the world at the end of the year, scientists did not know quite what would happen when the satellites went back to zero. It was feared old equipment might stop working or give wildly inaccurate readings. Sailors, pilots and outdoor sports enthusiasts across the world were urged to check their GPS receivers before setting out on their journeys. Many amateur outdoor sports enthusiasts, for example, have come to rely almost entirely on the system originally developed by the US military for targeting its missiles. The US Federal Aviation Administration said it had also not received any reports of pilots experiencing difficulty with their navigation equipment. Serbia Info KFOR destroys RTV transmitter on Mt Mokra Gora August 17, 1999 Zubin Potok, August 16 (Tanjug) - French KFOR peacekeepers in the north of Serbia's Kosovo-Metohija province have destroyed the TV and radio transmitter on Mt. Mokra Gora near Zubin Potok. The transmitter was 192 meters high and located at an altitude of 1,700 meters. KFOR command did not say why it downed the transmitter, and is guarding the location. TV transmitter on Mokra Gora was bombed by NATO aircraft more than ten times but was not hit. French soldiers occupied all the region around the RTV transmitter. The Serbian TV second channel and the Radio Belgrade second program cannot be seen or heard in southern Serbia and Kosovo- Metohija as a result of downed transmitter. This was my reason for posting this response from Gene was to get some feedback from those on MC-list who understand this issue more than I do regarding the veracity of the information presented. It certainly was not my intent to get anyone upset nor to be "kicked off" the list. This NSA document seems like a very important one to attempt to authenticate. What do you mean by posting a flame to a list member? All I am trying to do is get to the truth of the matter here. Is anyone else on this list also interested in the same thing? Who is trying to control whose mind here? Interesting can of worms opened by conflicting viewpoints on NSA document veracity. This document posted by Wes Thomas on his website contains extremely extraordinary claims of covert government agency involvement in deeply controlling the minds of the American populace with technologies and methods not normally believable to exist. Since extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and that document is prepared to look like some kind of official NSA document even though it changes to first person accounts within it, I think it is more than reasonable to question the veracity of it and open this to discussion on any list. I do not know either Wes Thomas or Gene Johnson personally and have not been following the "politics" of their disagreements on Wes' "mind-control" list, so his unsubbing me from that list is off the wall and out of the blue to me. Remember ECHELON? Well, FIDNET is a new U.S. government electronic data collection program that, coupled with existing spy systems like ECHELON, could push government threats to electronic privacy to new heights and bring us one giant step closer to Orwells nightmare. What is FIDNET? Right now, its just a Clinton Administration proposalyes, those noble idealists in Washington are just full of ideas for protecting us from ourselves. FIDNET stands for Federal Intrusion Detection Network, and its no surprise that the Administrations National Security Council (NSC) would come up with such an idea in the wake of all the hacker attacks on U.S. government web sites. The plannot yet released to the public but leaked on-line by Wayne Madsen of the Intelligence Newsletter, and subsequently covered by the New York Times, Wired, and other news outletscalls for one software system to watch activity on non- military government networks and a separate system to track the banking, telecommunications and transportation industries. A host of new monitoring agencies with a whole new can of alphabet soup names and acronyms is also called for, all under direction of the FBI. Data would be gathered at the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), an interagency facility operated by the FBI, beginning no later than the year 2003. This is necessary because terrorists and hackers are plotting evil things, the NCS assures us. Jeffrey Hunker, the NCS "Director of Information Protection" warns, "A number of nations that are hostile to the [US] and several well-financed terrorist groups, and quite arguably a number of organized crime groups, are systematically developing capabilities to attack US information systems. That's something both new and frightening." But its not just government computers Big Brother is worried about. Several private sector "industry leaders" (lobbyists from quasi-private telecommunications associations: Harris Miller, president of the Information Technology Association, Matthew Flanigan, president of the Telecommunications Industry Association, Roy Neel, president of the U.S. Telephone Association, and Stephen Katz, vice president for information security at Citigroup) are named in the plan, as is only fitting, since the idea is to protect the national economy, as well as "vital infrastructure". The NSC, White House spokesman Joe Lockhart said, wants "to see if we can work cooperatively with [private industry] to figure out if we can help them." The president, he said, "is committed to doing what we need to do to protect our infrastructure, while at the same time balancing the need for privacy." Fortunately, privacy advocates from many different places on the political spectrum are quite skeptical and are raising a fuss. Even some members of Congress have seized the opportunity to criticize the White House plan. The proposed "monitoring" power is too dangerous, too subject to abuse, and cannot be justified even for seemingly benign goal of protecting private (and government!) computer networks. It also goes farther than ever before toward the automated collection of private information with out any due process: robotic rights violation. Republican Senator Conrad Burns of Montana said that law enforcement agencies should have to get court orders to monitor computer lines (just as they once had to in order to monitor voice communications). "This administration has no respect for privacy. I find that very disturbing," he said. Even a Democrat, Ron Wyden of Oregon, agreed with Burns in saying that the White House proposal is "ill-conceived". Protection from Government Peeping Toms House Majority Leader Dick Armey released a startling statement in which he urged the administration to encourage the proliferation of powerful encryption instead of making secret plans to create new bureaucracies: "I am deeply concerned about reports that the Administration is trying to set up a new Washington bureaucracy to protect the private sector from hackers and computer terrorists. What we really need is protection from government Peeping Toms . Their plan raises the Orwellian possibility that unscrupulous government bureaucrats could one day use such a system to read our personal e-mail. Let's not undermine the American people's confidence in the security of their most personal communications. Allowing individuals and private industry to use the strongest possible encryption is a more effective way of ensuring privacy from outside hackers."

Is it beginning to smell like a Clinton scandal around here or are these the ingredients for the latest episode of the X- Files? Neither. These are keys in another case of the hierarchy in the Canadian Armed Forces abandoning its soldiers. And in the recent history of giving short shrift to the men and women who volunteer their lives to the whim of the Prime Minister and the minister of defense, this shrift is the shortest of them all. The lack of respect for human life that has become institutionalized in the military has evolved from years of neglect neglect that has let the condition of the military sink to new depths. The military in Canada rightly lays claim to a storied history. During the First World War the federal government could avoid making a decision on the touchy subject of conscription largely because until 1918 volunteers were plenty. By 1918, 600,000 Canadians had served in the wartime army and another 9,000 in the navy. Canadian pilots constituted nearly 25 percent of Britains Royal Air Force. All tolled over 60,000 Canadians died in the World War One. When it was over they all, living and dead, had built for Canada a reputation for spearheading Allied attacks with marked tenacity and courage. During the Second World War conscription again strained relations between English- and French-speaking Canadians, and again great numbers of volunteers delayed its enactment, this time until 1944. By the end of the war Canada, with a population of 12 million, had raised a military force of 1 million people. The Navy, which grew from 5,000 to 100,000 men, protected the Atlantic supply convoys to Britain, while the army played a major role in freeing the Scheldt estuary in the Netherlands, through which the Allies entered Europe on their way to victory. When the Nazis surrendered in May 1945, they did so to the Canadian command. Since the Second World War Canadian troops have distinguished themselves in the Korean War and in meeting a great number of NATO and UN peacekeeping obligations. Most recently during NATO air attacks on Kosovo Canadian CF-18s flew a disproportionately large number of missions. While the quality of Canadian troops has never slipped, and the military to this day meets Canadas NATO and UN obligations shiningly, Canadas forces offer little protection from an attack against the home turf. Canadians and interested observers openly acknowledge that the military is wholly inadequate to protect the countrys people and land. It is reasonable to argue that no army in the world could capably protect Canadas huge landmass, nor any navy properly patrol the largest coastline in the world; nevertheless, since the end of the Second World War, Canada has come to maintain a force of about 60,000 regulars with less than 200 CF- 18s. Upgrading a thirty-year old fleet of rescue helicopters has become a shameful embarrassment to the government bickering over dollar signs has sent several crewmen to their deaths in antique aircraft and rendered the rescue forces virtually useless. The penny pinching has understandably hurt morale. No wonder. Perennially low wages trap many soldiers below poverty level. In the last year national television newscasts have run stories on soldiers who are forced to visit food banks to feed their families. Two soldiers in Winnipeg, Manitoba garnered some much needed media attention for their food-drive they promised to camp out atop a few stories high scaffold for food donations for their base. Well-wishers and supporters stopped at the foot of the scaffold and gave what they could. That the Canadian military could come to this is hard to conceive. Yet the wonder grows greater when we see the politicians so willing to send this military on UN missions. In the early 90s Canada shipped troops to Somalia, a hell on earth so volatile and confused that a Somali prisoner sadly, but not surprisingly, was beaten and killed while held in custody by Canadian soldiers. To the hate war in Bosnia, Canadians went as unarmed gatekeepers and to stuff body bags. Their role was much the same in Croatia, enforcing peace in a place where nothing was what it seemed even the dirt. The UN, Dealer of Death Six years after Canadian troops went to work in Croatia on behalf of the UN, they are learning that they made their bunkers out of earth contaminated with PCBs and bauxite. These days scores of those who served in Croatia are sick. Some are going blind, other deteriorating at the joints. Who has stepped forward to treat them, to provide them with a pension? Not the organization (the UN) that sent them to Croatia. Actually, since the story has hit the media, the military is grudgingly offering some assistance, but this story gets much worse. I've sent several messages to the owner of www.islandnet.com/~persewen/ to point out some of the contradictions. I never got an answer. I can't prove that there isn't a conspiracy, but if "they" really are that powerful, and if "they" really started their conspiracies centuries ago, we wouldn't be able to write about it. I wont deny the fact that there are children being abused by perverts, I'm not so sure it has to do with satanism. Some examples of contradictions: - there's a photograph of Bo Gritz in the Gallery of Illuminati (Photo Gallery Various) but on another page he's referred to as "this great American hero" and "my dear friend" (Operation Vampire Killer 2000) - nature's god (from the Declaration of Independence) is described as the true God in Operation Vampire Killer 2000, but in The DuPont Bloodline as a satanic deity. - witches (mostly females), who were were burnt at the stake for practicing alternative treatment in form of herbs and old wisdom (World War III and the Witch Hunt on Alternative Medicine), and witchcraft was not a group of poor innocent women chased by a malicious Christian society (The Science of Body Manipulation) On the Index page the owner gives this advice: And if you're not familiar on the subject, I strongly advice you to start with the link called "An over-all Briefing" A few paragraphs from An over-all Briefing: This story is very carefully told in the Sumerian scriptures, which go back at least 6000 years. Springmeier seems to be ranting against everybody who is not a "devout Christian", although he even suspects some "devout Christians" (they have MPD and are part of the conspiracy), but most of all he suspects people from Scotch or Irish ancestry, Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Methodists, Episcopalians and Mormons. He knows exactly what the plans of God, Satan and the Illuminati are, he must have a hot line to all of them. He warns "the reader" several times that there are a number people who seem to be anti-NWO but in reality they are double-agents and sometimes even 'unwitting' mind-controlled slaves. How can he prove he's not a mind-controlled slave or a double-agent? He refers to himself as "this author" (50 times in Body Manipulation and 42 times in Disney), he seems to be acting rather dissociated (which is according to "this author" a sign of being a mind-controlled slave). -Caveat Lector- The real problem with this whole issue is not whether Evolution is true or Creationism is true. The real problem is the recalcitrance of the scientific community and their inability to give fair hearing to alternative viewpoints, particularly when those viewpoints differ greatly from paradigms that they hold sacred. This is true of all scientists and is especially so among the soft sciences, which Anthropology is one. It is true for everyone, to one degree or another. However, where these scientists are concerned their objectivity and willingness to apply new theories and test new hypotheses should be a given, and expected, but it sadly is not. The system of science is the root of the thing, meaning that those who are in control of the establishment control all those who are members, and demand conformity of those who would become one of them. Thus when a radical new idea is presented it is rejected without consideration, in most cases, and usually ridiculed as well. This is a sorry state of affairs, and anyone who would deny it should just get there fat head out of their ass, and take a real look around. Personally I believe that evolution does take place in some manner and in some ways, the extent of which is unknown to me. There is certainly change within species. I do find it hard to believe that species evolve into other species. I don't feel any better or worse about creationism, but clearly evolution cannot explain how life originated, except to beg the question and say that it occurred by chance and "anything" can happen if given enough time. What a load of bull! There must be an attempt made in order to achieve a result or action, in other words for nucleotides and complex proteins to even join together they must be attempting to do so and trying various combinations repeatedly, over and over again for Millions or Billions of years. Sounds like purpose, or there may be an intelligence behind it. BUT, attacking the faults in Evolution is not PROOF of creation. Creation CANNOT be proved any more than evolution can. The system and the establishment are what need to be attacked in order to beget change, not the theories of that system. Instead, the man the GOP hopes will make voters forget Bill Clinton has issued his own series of half-tweaked semi-denials, strongly implying but refusing to confront his widely-rumored past abuse of cocaine. And this from the leader of the party which claims a monopoly on personal responsibility. By way of defense, Bush campaign prefers us to consider such issues as strictly personal, and therefore outside the bounds of public debate. To our credit, thats how millions of Americans would like to perceive the issue. In a recent survey, roughly half said they think Bush should come clean with his whole story, but an equal number said that past cocaine use wouldnt affect their opinion of his candidacy. Which isnt surprising: as the nation merely shrugs at the knowledge that Al Gore smoked marijuana repeatedly and Newt Gingrich spent the last few years Renewing America with a congressional aide 23 years his junior, most sane people realize that, save the odd felony, the citizenry cares more about public policy than private peccadilloes. And so the question of Bushs possible drug use is debated as roughly equal to Bill Clintons sex life: both are framed as personal issues that may or may not have public implications, and the debate therefore centers largely over whether or not questions on such issues are even valid. There is a difference, however. And its not about honesty or integrity or any similarly rare conceit among politicians. Both Bush and Clinton, in this example, have demonstrated a disturbing inability to look America in the eye and say what they did and didnt do. Both have tried to present this inability as a strength of character, refusing to bow to such rude levels of inquiry. And for both, the ploy has plainly failed. Heres the difference: Oral sex is not a felony. (Thats not quite true, actually: in a dozen states, it is; however, the laws are rarely prosecuted. And thank God. Almost everyone I know would be in prison.) Cocaine possession is. The state of Texas alone where George W. Bush is Governor -- locks up about 15,000 people each year for drug offenses. One recent study by the Texas Justice Policy Council found that 64% percent of those convicted of cocaine possession in Texas were holding less than *half a gram.* For those of you unfamiliar with drugs: in terms of amount, thats very roughly comparable to sending someone to prison for a single marijuana joint. Leaving aside here any debate over legalization, sentencing fairness, or other specific aspects of drug policy, and merely looking at the question of intellectual consistency, lets just look at the amazing position the leading campaign fundraiser in American history now asks us to accept: Do the math, and George Bush, in his term as Governor of the state of Texas, has presided over the felony imprisonment of roughly 10,000 people for precisely the same activity that he is now increasingly hinting he engaged in himself. This is the frame in which the current debate should be properly set. If indeed, as now seems likely, Bush eventually concedes earlier casual cocaine abuse, a stronger argument for either a) George W. The modern American educational system no longer teaches us the political language of our ancestors. In fact our schooling helps widen the gulf of time between our ancestors and ourselves, because much of what we are taught in the name of civics, political science, or American history is really modern liberal propaganda. Sometimes this is deliberate. Worse yet, sometimes it isnt. Our ancestral voices have come to sound alien to us, and therefore our own moral and political language is impoverished. Its as if the people of England could no longer understand Shakespeare, or Germans couldnt comprehend Mozart and Beethoven. So to most Americans, even those who feel oppressed by what they call big government, it must sound strange to hear it said, in the past tense, that tyranny came to America. After all, we have a constitution, dont we? We ve abolished slavery and segregation. We won two world wars and the Cold War. We still congratulate ourselves before every ballgame on being the Land of the Free. And we arent ruled by some fanatic with a funny mustache who likes big parades with thousands of soldiers goose-stepping past huge pictures of himself. For all that, we no longer fully have what our ancestors, who framed and ratified our Constitution, thought of as freedom a careful division of power that prevents power from becoming concentrated and unlimited. The word they usually used for concentrated power was consolidated a rough synonym for fascist. And the words they used for any excessive powers claimed or exercised by the state were usurped and tyrannical. They would consider the modern liberal state tyrannical in principle; they would see in it not the opposite of the fascist, communist, and socialist states, but their sister. If Washington and Jefferson, Madison, and Hamilton could come back, the first thing theyd notice would be that the federal government now routinely assumes thousands of powers never assigned to it powers never granted, never delegated, never enumerated. These were the words they used, and its a good idea for us to learn their language. They would say that we no longer live under the Constitution they wrote. And the Americans of a much later era the period from Cleveland to Coolidge, for example would say we no longer live even under the Constitution they inherited and amended. I call the present system PostConstitutional America. As I sometimes put it, the U.S. Constitution poses no serious threat to our form of government. Whats worse is that our constitutional illiteracy cuts us off from our own national heritage. And so our politics degenerates into increasingly bitter and unprincipled quarrels about who is going to bear the burdens of war and welfare. I dont want to sound like an oracle on this subject. As a typical victim of modern public education and a disinformed citizen of this media-ridden country, I took a long time an embarrassingly long time to learn what I m passing on. It was like studying geometry in old age, and discovering how simple the basic principles of space really are. It was the old story: In order to learn, first I had to unlearn. Most of what Id been taught and told about the Constitution was misguided or even false. And Id never been told some of the most elementary things, which would have saved me a tremendous amount of confusion. The Constitution does two things. First, it delegates certain enumerated powers to the federal government. Second, it separates those powers among the three branches. Most people understand the secondary principle of the separation of powers. But they dont grasp the primary idea of delegated and enumerated powers. Consider this. We have recently had a big national debate over national health care. Advocates and opponents argued long and loud over whether it could work, what was fair, how to pay for it, and so forth. Daja Meston, who was investigating a controversial World Bank project in the remote western province of Qinghai, was in "serious but stable condition" in a hospital in the provincial capital Xining, the spokeswoman said. "He has suffered broken bones and spinal and internal injuries," she said. Meston, 29, from Newton, Massachusetts, met an American doctor and a consular official over the weekend, she said. Sunday, "he had two brief conversations with the consular officials, both focused on his medical condition," she said. U.S. officials were working with the Chinese to try to arrange a medical evacuation, but it was unclear whether or when that would take place, she said. "There is no specific schedule at this point," she said. Meston and Melbourne University researcher Gabriel Lafitte, 50, were detained after they entered China on tourist visas and traveled to Qinghai, bordering Tibet, to investigate a World Bank project to resettle impoverished farmers. China deported Lafitte Saturday. Tibetan rights activists say the project threatens indigenous culture by moving ethnic Chinese farmers onto lands inhabited by Tibetans. The World Bank and China say the project will alleviate poverty for the local population and for the farmers who moved. Millions of dollars will be provided for schools and irrigation works in the region, they said. China's official Xinhua news agency said the pair was suspected of "photographing in closed areas where clearly marked restriction signs were posted." The men "were neither entrusted by the World Bank nor invited by relevant Chinese departments," it said. U.S. consular officials appeared to confirm Chinese media accounts that Meston was injured after jumping from a building in an attempt to escape police. "The reports that we've received from the (U.S.) officials in Xining are consistent with the reports that he jumped or fell from a window while attempting to escape," the embassy spokeswoman said. Meston's wife, Phuntsok Meston, was expected to join him in China, the spokeswoman said. After the World Bank approved the Xining project in June, Zhu Xian, China's senior representative to the bank, said China welcomed scrutiny of the project. In an unprecedented move, politicians and foreign reporters were invited to visit the project and talk to local residents. Seminarian Porter works summers at Cathedral Camp in East Freetown, MA, molesting children. Is reported to another priest by a boy who later grew up to be an FBI agent. In Revere, molests numerous neighborhood children. 1960, April. 1st assignment of Roman Catholic priest Porter in North Attleboro at St. Mary Church and Elementary (Kindergarten to 8th Grade) School. Rapes and sexually assaults over a hundred known victims, boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14 including Frank. Drugs and rapes 12 year old Frank Fitzpatrick at Porters parents home in Revere, MA. 1962. (Medeiros later becomes a Cardinal). Lyons drives Porter to Boston to see a psychiatrist for treatment. Porter also receives electroshock treatments by Dr. Norris Flanagan of Wiswall Hospital. 1963, August. Porter leaves North Attleboro. Transferred to Sacred Heart Church in Fall River, Massachusetts, 25 miles away. Molests more children. Babe Viens hears that Porter is at a parish in Fall River and again goes to the Bishops Office to complain. 1965. Porter is transferred to St. James Church in New Bedford, 15 miles from Fall River. Fathers ODea and Duffy are told by Monsignor Gallagher that the Diocesan Office says to watch Father Porter because he has a problem with little boys. Porter is not assigned duties specifically relating to children although he becomes a chaplain at St. Lukes Hospital. To pull information from a targeted computer, agents would still be required to get additional authorization from a court, the Post said. Justice officials were not immediately available for comment. The proposal is the latest in a years-long tug-of-war between the government and computer users who want to protect their privacy by encrypting documents. While Justice officials said their proposal was "consistent with constitutional principles," the idea alarmed civil libertarians and some members of Congress. Americans are suffering from overexposure to fluoride due to its widespread
and uncontrolled use. Fluoride can be found in any food or beverage made
with fluoridated municipal water. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) completed a study in 1998 showing that 22% of all children
now have dental fluorosis. This is the discoloration and, in advanced cases,
the pitting of teeth. Bleaching is not effective. Less than 2% of Western
Europe drink fluoridated water compared to over 60% of the United States
population.
Federal and state public health agencies and health organizations continue
to promote fluoride despite growing evidence that it is harmful to public
health and the environment. This is also despite EPAs own union, which has
taken a stand against fluoride.
Fluoride has been linked in government and scientific reports to a wide
range of harmful health effects, including: Alzheimer's, kidney damage,
cancer, genetic damage, neurological impairment, and bone disease (brittle
bones).
Fluoride is not an essential nutrient. It has never received "FDA Approval"
(U.S. Food and Drug Administration). It is listed as an "unapproved new
drug" by the FDA, and as a "contaminant" by the EPA. Although calcium
fluoride can occur naturally, the type of fluoride (sodium) added to
municipal water is a hazardous waste of the aluminum, phosphate fertilizer,
and other industries.
There is no margin of safety for fluoride exposure. In the 1940s, when
fluoridation began, the "optimal" level of exposure for dental benefit was
determined to be 1 milligram/day. Even at that level, 10% of the population
were expected to contract dental fluorosis. It was estimated that
individuals drank 1 liter of water per day. At that time, other sources of
fluoride were scarce.
1986: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set new "maximum contaminant
levels (MCLs)" for fluoride in water. Above 2 mg/liter "children are likely
to develop objectionable dental fluorosis" and parents must be officially
notified. Above 4 mg/liter, individuals are at risk of developing "crippling
skeletal fluorosis." It is against federal law to fluoridate water above 4
mg/liter.
1991: The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, in their Review of
Fluoride Benefits and Risks, published an analysis of fluoride exposure
levels from food, beverages, toothpaste, and mouthwash. This data indicates
that the public is already overexposed to fluoride and that, at the very
least, dentists should no longer prescribe fluoride supplements.

1993: The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) stated in its
Toxicological Profile on Fluoride, "Existing data indicate that subsets of
the population may be unusually susceptible to the toxic effects of fluoride
and its compounds. These populations include the elderly, people with
deficiencies of calcium, magnesium, and/or vitamin C, and people with
cardiovascular and kidney problems... Postmenopausal women and elderly men
in fluoridated communities may also be at increased risk of fractures."
1994: The American Dental Association's (ADA) Council on Scientific Affairs
approved a new Fluoride Supplementation Dosage Schedule with the following
cautions, "All sources of fluoride must be evaluated with a thorough
fluoride history. Patient exposure to multiple water sources can make proper
prescribing complex." Due to multiple sources, it is impossible to know a
patients exposure.
1995-97: The Journal of the American Dental Association (JADAs Dec. 1995,
July 1996, July 1997) has published a series of studies reporting on
pervasive overexposure to fluoride due to "the widespread use of fluoridated
water, fluoride dentifrice, dietary fluoride supplements and other forms of
fluoride...{There is} an increased prevalence of dental fluorosis, ranging
from about 15% to 65% in fluoridated areas and 5% to 40% in non-fluoridated
areas in North America." In February of 1997, The Academy of General
Dentistry (AGD), representing 35,000 dentists, warned parents to limit their
childrens intake of juices due to fluoride content.
RECOMMENDATION: The FDA should be required to put fluoride through the
rigorous "controlled studies" necessary for standard "FDA Approval." If
fluoride gains FDA approval, then it should be treated as a prescribed
medication in order to prevent

In this incident, a "cold explosion" (sharply pulsed creation of convergent EM energy in the interference zone) was created off the Kuril Islands, above the surface of the ocean. This caused rapid cooling of the localized air, and a resulting sudden insurgence of surrounding air. The result was a sharp upwelling of water and vapor sucked up from the surface of the ocean, rising rapidly to about 60,000 feet altitude, then spreading out into a large cloud. Then in the top of that cloud there appeared an intensely glowing ball (shell) of light. This shell of light then slowly and steadily expanded as a sphere, until it reached some 300 miles diameter. The electromagnetic energy in the glowing spherical shell would thus have been enormous. At that time, the center of the sphere was at an altitude of about 200 miles. This is certainly not a natural phenomenon. Nature does not make intense little stationary balls of light in the tops of clouds, which slowly and methodically expand to spheres 300 miles in diameter and remain perfect spheres of light. This is only one of many dozens of similar reports from around the world. Such tests were so regularly observed and reported by airline pilots flying the northern route between Japan to the U.S., that everyone lost interest and the pilots mostly ceased reporting them. The enormous energy density achieved by these action-at-a-distance weapons is particularly significant. I personally published citations of many of these reports I found in the open literature. The weather control referred to by Defense Secretary Cohen is often achieved by using one or more scalar interferometers to produce slow heating in a selected small area of the atmosphere, e.g. in a chosen location over the United States. That heating produces air expansion, reduces the air's density, and thus produces a "low pressure" area (ground pressure measurement). Simultaneously, at other selected areas, slow cooling over a selected area is produced, resulting in more dense air and therefore a "high pressure" area as measured on the ground. Introduction On 2 August 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government, used armed force to overturn it. These Americans wanted honest, open elections. For years they had asked for state or Federal election monitors to prevent vote fraud -- forged ballots, secret ballot counts, and intimidation by armed sheriff's deputies -- by the local political boss. They got no help. These Americans' absolute refusal to knuckle-under had been hardened by service in World War II. Having fought to free other countries from murderous regimes, they rejected vicious abuse by their county government. These Americans had a choice. Their state's Constitution - Article 1, Section 26 - recorded their right to keep and bear arms for the common defense. Few "gun control" laws had been enacted. II. The Setting These Americans were Tennesseeans of McMinn County, located between Chattanooga and Knoxville, in Eastern Tennessee. The two main towns were Athens and Etowah. McMinn Countians had long been independent political thinkers. They also had long: accepted bribe-taking by politicians and/or the Sheriff to overlook illicit whiskey-making and gambling; financed the sheriff's department from fines - usually for speeding or public drunkenness - which promoted false arrests; put up with voting fraud by both Democrats and Republicans. Tennessee State law barred voting fraud: ballot boxes had to be shown to be empty before voting; poll-watchers had to be allowed; armed law enforcement officers were barred from polling places; ballots had to be counted where any voter could watch. III. The Circumstances The Great Depression had ravaged McMinn County. Drought broke many farmers; workforces shrank. The wealthy Cantrell family, of Etowah, backed Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the 1932 election, hoping New Deal programs would revive the local economy and help Democrats to replace Republicans in the county government. So it proved. Paul Cantrell was elected Sheriff in the 1936, 1938, and 1940 elections, but by slim margins. The Sheriff was the key County official. Cantrell was elected to the State Senate in 1942 and 1944; his chief deputy, Pat Mansfield, was elected sheriff. In 1946, Paul Cantrell again sought the Sheriff's office. IV. World War II Ends; Paul Cantrell's Troubles Begin At end-1945, some 3,000 battle-hardened veterans returned to McMinn County. Sheriff Mansfield's deputies had brutalized many in McMinn County; the GIs held Cantrell politically responsible for Mansfield's doings. Early in 1946, some newly-returned ex-GIs decided: to challenge Cantrell politically; to offer an all ex-GI, non-partisan ticket; to promise a fraud-free election. In ads and speeches the GI candidates promised: an honest ballot count; reform of county government. At a rally, a GI speaker said, "'The principals that we fought for in this past war do not exist in McMinn County. We fought for democracy because we believe in democracy but not the form we live under in this county.'" (Daily Post-Athenian, 17 June 1946, p. 1). At end-July 1946, 159 McMinn County GIs petitioned the FBI to send election monitors. There was no response. The Department of Justice had not responded to McMinn Countians' complaints of election fraud in 1940, 1942, and 1944. V. From Ballots to Bullets The election was held on 1 August. To intimidate voters, Mansfield brought in some 200 armed "deputies". GI poll-watchers were beaten almost at once. At about 3 p.m., Tom Gillespie, an African-American voter, was told by a Sheriff's deputy, "'Nigger, you can't vote here today!!'". Despite being beaten, Gillespie persisted; the enraged deputy shot him. The gunshot drew a crowd. Rumors spread that Gillespie had been "shot in the back"; he later recovered. (C. Stephen Byrum, The Battle of Athens; Paidia Productions, Chattanooga TN, 1987; pp. 155-57). Other deputies detained ex-GI poll-watchers in a polling place, as that made the ballot count "public". "The deputies, with guns drawn, formed a tight half-circle around the front of the polling place. There are entire populations now that not only can't think past tomorrow, but are so consumed with just staying alive, they can't envision a different modality than minute-to-minute survival. This has, in fact, been one of the underlying factors in justifying the military solution to ideological and political problems - at least it helps reduce the number of humans on the earth's surface. Covert experiments with biological weapons may be the real source of lethal viruses associated with ebola, anthrax, and AIDS - but we may never know for sure (the culprits' tracks are well-covered!) For these reasons I have stopped thinking along the lines of artificial population control because such notions lead inevitably to rationalizing genocidal practices, as did the Nazis under Hitler and the Soviets under Stalin. More recent and equally grisly examples of such thinking is to be seen in various "ethnic cleansing" programmes initiated by crazed individuals like Milosevic - and the far subtler attempts to "assimilate" indigenous peoples into the mainstream instituted by renegade regimes like the ones in Indonesia and Malaysia. I now believe that the earth can easily support 11 billion humans - provided we outgrow our primate territoriality programming and restore the spiritual core to our daily lives. In short, at less than 7 billion, we are not in immediate danger of a global catastrophe - but there definitely has to be a radical change of lifestyle and values. The earth cannot support even 3 billion if they all insist on living like Fifth Avenue Manhattanites or Hollywood stars or Southeast Asian Sultans! And in the final analysis, the worst polluters of the ecosystem are in fact the so-called developed nations where the human ego is most intensely individuated and motivated by ambition. Recently I heard a lecture by Terence McKenna in which he proposed that we voluntarily limit the number of offspring to one per couple. Within a generation the population would be reduced by 20% and within two, we'd have 40% fewer humans on earth. Theoretically, McKenna may be right - but I don't see how such a policy can be implemented unless we resort to totalitarian methods as was attempted in China and India. Such ideas of

"I find that today a single joint is enough to get me high ... in one movie theater recently I found I could get high just by inhaling the cannabis smoke which permeated the theater," wrote Sagan, who authored popular science books such as "Cosmos," "Contact," and "The Dragons of Eden." In the essay, Sagan said marijuana inspired some of his intellectual work. "I can remember one occasion, taking a shower with my wife while high, in which I had an idea on the origins and invalidities of racism in terms of gaussian distribution curves," wrote the former Cornell University professor. Scientists have reconstructed the skull of a young girl found in Brazil. At 12,000 years old, "Luzia" is the oldest human skeleton yet found on the American landmass. During the past four years 50 other skulls have been discovered in Brazil and Colombia, all predating the invasion of Mongoloid peoples from the north about 9,000 years ago. Luzia's skull was discovered in the early 1970s by a French archeologist in a layer of sediment in Amazonas and was dismissed as insignificant. It was given away to the National Museum in Rio de Janeiro, where it remained until a few years ago when Walter Neves, professor of biological anthropology at the University of Sao Paolo, heard about it and realised that it might provide vital clues for solving the mystery of America's anthropological heritage. The procedure has revealed conclusive evidence of Luzia's ancestry. Neves is still shocked by his findings. "When we started seeing the results, it was amazing because we realised the statistics were not showing these people to be Mongoloid; they were showing that they were anything except Mongoloid," he said. Luzia was reconstructed by Richard Neave, a forensic artist from the University of Manchester, for Ancient Voices, a BBC2 documentary to be shown next week. Neave's reconstruction backed up Neves's calculations: "That to me is a negroid face. The proportions of the face do not say anything about it being Mongoloid." Luzia's facial characteristics are similar to those of the people of the islands of southeast Asia, Australia and Melanesia. "They are similar to modern-day Aborigines and Africans and show no similarities at all with Mongoloids from east Asia and modern-day Indians," said Neves. The oldest signs of habitation in north or south America were previously believed to be stone spear points discovered at Clovis, New Mexico, in the 1930s. They were dated at 11,000 years old. Charcoal, a chipped stone stool and scraps of food found recently, however, have been dated at 40,000 years old - the remains, perhaps, of a campfire lit by ancient seafarers from Asia. The theory that Aborigines could have travelled by water to the Americas has been given further credence by the discovery of a painting of an ocean- going vessel in Western Australia, which is 20,000 years old. The 4,000-mile journey between Australia and South America can still be undertaken with relatively short island hops. Dennis Stanford, chairman of the anthropology department at the Natural Museum of History in Washington DC, believes the capability of prehistoric peoples has long been underestimated. "Way back then they weren't really 'cave' people, they were pretty sophisticated," he said. "I think Neolithic people were doing a whole lot more than we give them credit for; they were just as smart as you and I, they just did different things." Further evidence of the fate of the Aboriginal invaders has been provided by computer- imaging technology, used to interpret cave paintings in the Serra da Capivara in northeastern Brazil. The pictures show pregnant women and hunters chasing giant armadillos, as well as what were initially interpreted by archeologists as human figures dancing. After more examination, however, the figures are now thought to be warriors spinning through the air with a spear - illustrating battles between the Aborigines and the invading Mongoloids from the north. The American Aborigines were almost entirely wiped out by the encroaching Mongoloids, but anthropologists believe that some of their descendants, interbred with the Mongoloid peoples who preceded today's South American Indians, survived in Tierra del Fuego. Scientists believe that Aboriginal descendants escaped to this remote island off the southern tip of South America, where they prospered until European settlers migrating to Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century brought stomach illnesses to the area, which wiped out the majority of the remaining native Fuegans. Rows of white crosses mark the graves of the Fuegans, who wore sealskins and lit fires everywhere - even in boats - to protect themselves from the harsh climate. Their skulls have now been analysed to reveal features common to Neves's skulls. Evidence from Father de Agostini, an Italian ethnographer who filmed the Fuegan way of life in the 1930s, reveal similarities with Aboriginal culture in Australia. The US Department of Justice (DoJ) has announced that Roland Bronnimann, who was formerly president of Roche's vitamins and fine chemicals division has agreed to plead guilty and will serve a five month jail sentence and be fined $150 000 (Euro142 000) over his role in the cartel which spanned most of the 1990s. The DoJ filed Thursday a one-count criminal charge in the US District Court, Dallas, Texas against Swiss citizen Bronnimann whose former colleague Kuno Sommer, ex director of worldwide marketing for vitamins and fine chemicals, was fined $100 000 and sentenced in July to a four month jail term. Bronnimann was charged with conspiring with unnamed co-conspirators to fix, raise and maintain prices and allocate market shares in vitamins sold in the US and elsewhere. The case also charges Bronnimann for involvement in allocating contracts and rigging bids related to vitamin premixes for foods in the US. Bronnimann's involvement in the cartel, along with Germany's BASF and France's Rhone-Poulenc, lasted from spring 1991 to February this year, said the DoJ. Bronnimann has been charged with violating Section One of the Sherman Act, which carries a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment and a $350 000 fine for individuals, although the DOJ noted that the fine can be increased if the gain or loss suffered by victims is greater than the statutory maximum. Gary Spratling, the DoJ anti-trust division's deputy assistant attorney general for criminal enforcement, said: "Bronnimann knew of, approved, and participated in key aspects of Hoffman-La Roche's operation in the vitamins cartel. As a member of Hoffmann-La Roche's executive committee at the time of his involvement, Bronnimann put the full weight of legitimacy behind the company's involvement in the most pervasive international cartel ever uncovered." Roche was fined $500m in a settlement reached with the DoJ in May over the vitamins price fixing case. The company took the charge as an exceptional item in its first half results to 30 June, which it reported on Thursday, along with provisions of SF995m ($656m/Euro621m) against civil lawsuits currently underway over the matter. A spokesman said the company may make further provisions against its H2 results. Both Bronnimann and Sommer left Roche in May when the company settled with the DoJ. Roche has an internal investigation into its vitamins division underway following the DoJ probe, which took evidence from some middle managers in return for non-prosecution. A spokesman previously told CNI that DoJ exemption from prosecution would not prevent the company probing the division's affairs. Sommer was sentenced to a four month jail term with $100 000 (Euro95 000) in fines, and the DoJ has just announced that Bronnimann is to be imprisoned for five months and be fined $150 000. A spokesman for Roche repeated that the group was "very sorry for what happened in the price fixing" and that the group's internal investigation, which was completed in the last few days, would not result in an overhaul, restructuring or culling in the division. He said it had given the group a better understanding of what happened in the division during the price-fixing cartel. Roche now "had a clearer picture of the involvement of people, or not", said the spokesman. He added that the investigation was an internal matter and declined to comment further. The group is now implementing a "compliance programme", which the spokesman said will instruct employees about proper behaviour in competition. Roche is also one of the companies co-operating with the European Commission (EC) in another vitamin price fixing investigation. While it made a significant provision of SF995m ($656m/Euro621m) in its half year results pending the outcome of civil lawsuits over vitamin price fixing, the spokesman said that no provision were planned with respect to the EC probe.
