Note that with f.altkeymap one can even define several keymaps and
explicitely chose which one to use.

Thanks :-) Indeed I found this:
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "crx_mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli", "vivaldi-stable"
and warping to "vivaldi-stable" works with ctwm!

but the problem remains.
The same happens in mwm, while fvwm and twm make vivaldi a normal window
with a border etc.
It must be sth. specific to ctwm (and mwm), but I've no idea what this
could be.
Anyone out there having a clue what's wrong here?

I'm really really thankful that you are spending that much time for caring

confused. Anyway, it must be sth. specific to ctwm as no other WM has
this problem.
Any ideas what could be wrong with ctwm here?

k it's a good idea to insist on doing sth. different than
any other window manager, especially if it makes X11 tools fail only
in ctwm.
Is this a single patch than I can remove? We can't go without xwit
on out chair, there are too many scripts relying on it.

e this drop-down is considered
a new transient window (although the focus stays on the whole dialog)
and when this disappears, ctwm thinks "Oh, the transient window is
gone, return the focus to the former window"?

once with ctwm 3.8.2, once with ctwm 4.0.1.
It happens with an empty .ctwmrc, too, so at least it's not an option
I had set.
Is this behaviour intended or a bug?

Any idea what could be wrong here? Do I have to "terminate" the click
somehow? The appearance of the icon seems to indicate that ctwm still
considers the button clicked when the ctrl key is pressed.

Do you have any clue why we see the ButtonRelease event only on
every second click? Does ctmw remember a button state somehow?

Hi Matthew,
thanks for testing! I sill suspect there is a bug i ctwm as it
works fine in twm, see below.

it's not just one of my options. Same problem.

hat the left
mouse button was still hold, it would show the mouse icon also for
the next middle or right click
So it's just like ctwm spawns a separate state for the left mouse button
that is only used when the left mouse button is pressed again but not
for any other action.
Really stra
't.
So it seems that ctwm doesn't allow wmctrl to kill windows. Is there
any option to change that? Or any reason why it's not possible with ctwm?

I never stop learning :-) Thanks a lot, I wasn't aware of xkill! Works great!
Ah, no! xkill doesn't kill the popup windows, but its *creator*, i.e
i and gvim.
My fault: I only tried with window ids but forgot the "-i"! Now that I
fixed that, it works great, with ids and with name strings!
Thank you very very much for your patch and your help!!!

Can you identify the process running in your window and kill that?
Am I missing something?
Yes, this is sth. scripted. Alert windows opening from background
scripts and being killed automatically by some conditions (like
event has passed)...
