Thank for all of the feedback. After some thrashing (that went nowhere) I
decided that being comfortable with dt was much more important than fighting
with KDE ... so I am now getting accustomed to MATE.

My comment is about poor support of gtk programs under KDE.
I also was a KDE user for a long time. Then I noticed something is broken with
the program I use a lot. I decided that I need Rawtherapee more than KDE. Plus
there were so much functionality in KDE that I simply never used. So I switche

Hi, you can change the doubleclick interval in System settings > Input
devices > Mouse > Advanced (or similar, I have KDE in Czech).
