Darktable has a fixed order in which the modules are applied to the image, independent of the order in which you activate them. So your workflow is mostly a matter of personal choice. The manual explains why this is the case. The thing to keep in mind is that modules differ in processing complexity, e.g. "profiled denoise" or "equalizer" need quite a bit of processing power. You might prefer to activate those only towards the end of the editing. In practice, though, on a modern PC with a mid-range GPU even those modules work fast enough in preview mode. About your workflow: "local contrast" is not the same as sharpening, although it might appear to give a crisper image. It does use the same basic algorithm as unsharp masking, but with a much higher radius. Both change the acutance of the image, with possible some loss in the smallest details. The equalizer module works in a completely different way, which at least in theory, allows to actually recover some extra detail from the image. And, if you work in raw, you might want to use "white balance", "highlight correction" and "base curve". Otoh, if you work from jpegs, raw denoise isn't useful (but you probably wouldn't be able to activate it). Meant unless you are keystoning on a square or a rectangle you will wind up with a trapezoid. And then with quite a few of the pictures I do not have a corner to focus on because another object is in its way. I want to be able to line up on vertical line and then on a parallel line. Then on a horizontal and then on one of its parallel line. darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

Re: [darktable-user] full keystone
The 4 lines are totally independent simply try it You might want to try the perspective module first and then if that is not satisfactory the C will make the impossible possible. Between the perspective module and the C dt has extraordinary correction capability. [darktable-user] full keystone
I think the four alignment bars should be independent of each other instead of having them tied together. I have a picture of a house and I don't have a perfect square, I have the side of the house, the top of the house, and not totally square windows. Has someone already suggested this? Re: [darktable-user] Variables in Watermark
Roman has it right, the docs were correct I just wasn't aware (when I read the docs the first time) that there's a "simple text" SVG built-in that will respect them. Also, the variable structure is different than with the file import/export formats, so I tripped on that. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP! I look forward to helping others in the mailing list :) Matt On Mon, Oct 9, 2017 at 10:27 AM, Roman Lebedevwrote: > On Mon, Oct 9, 2017 at 5:11 PM, Matty Gabe wrote: > > Hello! > > > > I've been Googling and searching like crazy to find out if it's possible > to > > use variables (like $(EXIF_MONTH) ) in the watermark so that I can add a > > timestamp to exported photos programatically rather easily, instead of > > having to do it by hand. > > > > I saw the simple_text.svg option and it looks like it uses a variable > behind > > the scenes to display the text I enter on-image, but that box is never > > parsed for variables I enter. > Surely you have read the docs? > https://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch03s04s05.html.php#watermark > > > Was hoping someone can at least confirm if this is not possible at the > > moment. > > > > Thanks! > > > > Matt > Roman. > > > > > > darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to > > darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org > darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org
Aw: [darktable-user] Variables in Watermark
Matt, I used Inkscape to add filename and timestamp. Just open the simple_text.svg, modify and/or copy the string and save to correct location. (check docs) Works very good for me as soon as I read the docs ;-) Micha. Gesendet: Montag, 09. I've been Googling and searching like crazy to find out if it's possible to use variables (like $(EXIF_MONTH) ) in the watermark so that I can add a timestamp to exported photos programatically rather easily, instead of having to do it by hand. I saw the simple_text.svg option and it looks like it uses a variable behind the scenes to display the text I enter on-image, but that box is never parsed for variables I enter. Was hoping someone can at least confirm if this is not possible at the moment. Thanks!
