Seems like nobody knows why. Reposting 3 times with the same attachments
won't help... But if you think it's an error in dt then you could file a
bug report.

Apologies if I've missed quite a bit of the discussion, somehow threading
sometimes seems broken for this list.

Anyway, Subhash, are you expecting your "edits" such as exposure, colors,
sharpness, etc to be imported into darktable from lightroom? If that would
be possible at all then my world would collapse... Those things - the
processing pipeline - are proprietary to lightroom and will probably never
ever be supported by darktable.

The only thing you can expect to import is the metadata (Title, copyright,
tags, ... I.e. text that you entered in lightroom). Maybe this would shed
some light:

Open a cmd-prompt (START, then type 'cmd'). 'cd' into the darktable program

debug-output which the experts here might be able to read, understand and

Re: [darktable-user] A Slideshow maker

2019-09-19 Thread HaJo Schatz
You need to be a bit more specific about your exact needs to get a clear
answer.
- Do you just want to play music and slides? Then start your favorite music
player, let it play some playlist, background it and start DTs or any other
slide show.
- Do you want sound and slides to be synced? You could just record your
sound/music into an MP3 track and then follow the above
- Do you want to create a single file containing sound and image; something
like a pps/ Then you'd need the respective player to play it back. A video
player supporting MP4 would be a common choice ;-)

Re: Fwd: [darktable-user] Need help with compiling from git

2019-09-03 Thread HaJo Schatz
If you need some package (such as libjpeg) to compile a source (such as
darktable), then you need to install the respective "developer" version of
libjpeg. I.e. the headers of the library which darktable requires. A quick
search on [1] (not sure if your system uses Debian though) reveals that for
libjpeg the correct package would be libjpeg-devel. So "apt install
libjpeg-devel" shoud do the trick. I'm no longer fluent in apt, but
something like "apt search libjpeg" or "apt find jpeg" should also give you
an idea. "man apt" will help there...

have access to the folder structure that holds my photos and tagging in one

I'm by no means a printer-module or CUPS expert, but this approach sounds
wrong. Instead the generic printer-module should be modified to probe
printer-specific options from CUPS and then create and populate drop-downs
based on that data. CUPS provides this information, it's up to the printing
application to make use of it. See e.g. by trying "lpoptions -l" in your
terminal. Depending on what printer you have installed in CUPS, you should
see a different list of options there; including EPSON-specific. Choosing
the correct options that way might even pop-up the EPSON dialog, who
knows...

But anyway, I guess the core darktable developers have no strong interest
in this and it's easy enough to print through other applications which
implement dedicated interfaces...

Re: [darktable-user] Width of Drop-Downs in GUI buggy?

2017-03-07 Thread HaJo Schatz
Sorry, took a while to respond to this:

fwiw, I figured out that darktable runs under Wayland natively, not
XWayland. That seems to cause the issues. The solution is simple though:
Force it to use XWayland:

# GDK_BACKEND=x11 && darktable

And the drop-downs have the proper width.

Thx again, may darktable one day play nicely with the native Wayland :)

[darktable-user] Dual monitor?

2016-04-10 Thread HaJo Schatz
Hi group,

To my defense, I did try to Google - without finding any recent info... Does
Darktable nowadays support dual-monitors, with color-correction?

I'm about to buy a new laptop and am wondering whether I should rather get a
17" display (Adobe-RGB ) model to do the editing there or invest in a more
portable 15" with simple display and have an external monitor for authentic
display. The latter seems an attractive option, but does darktable support this?

Thx a lot,
Hajo
