Just in the practical sense that it has resulted in two (IIRC) different people posting here recently about it preventing them from using darktable to import files from their camera/card in the manner that they were used to. I'm not trying to assert anything particularly about exFAT, just pondering if there should perhaps be another option in the import module... one that can just be pointed to a filesystem directory like the "folder" import, but which actually moves the files to a new location before the import. Seems like it would add some flexibility. I personally am perfectly happy pulling the files from my cards outside of darktable, but some people apparently feel otherwise. I could be completely wrong about all of that. :) -- jys darktable user mailing list to unsubscribe send a mail to darktable-user+unsubscr...@lists.darktable.org

I'm not saying that 32G is the new version of 640k, just that I don't see a problem with using exFAT. It's a Microsoft 'invention' and hence not-a-problem with Windows; it's a FUSE FS with Linux and I've had no problems with it. I think it's just an easier way to provide a universal-ish (to the extent that libgphoto will recognize your card) mechanism to import photos without having to deal with file management On 05/07/2018 05:57 PM, junkyardspar...@yepmail.net wrote: On Mon, May 7, 2018, at 17:12, Patrick Shanahan wrote: * junkyardspar...@yepmail.net[05-07-18 19:13]: On Mon, May 7, 2018, at 15:46, Patrick Shanahan wrote: * junkyardspar...@yepmail.net [05-07-18 18:05]: On Mon, May 7, 2018, at 14:12, Patrick Shanahan wrote: yes, afaik dt uses the systems disk access. Re: [darktable-user] SDXC Card not detected
My workflow (which worked on the previous cards) was as follows. Comments welcome. 1. Use Shotwell to import all media from the card onto my hard drive. I've configured Shotwell to do the renaming, file/folder hierarchy etc. I use multiple cameras, including my phone. Shotwell creates JPGs for RAWs on import, which is nice to just glance through to get some idea of what I've got. It also imports videos which is good. 2. After I import RAW files using Shotwell, I just open darktable to process and generate the JPGs. Since shotwell was unable to import from the new card, I tried to use DT for import (after watching some youtube tutotials) and realised DT doesn't see the card either. Hello, One thing I don't understand : why do you want DT to directly access the photos from the card ? Why don't you transfer the files to a HD and, then, import them in DT and process them from there ? A friend of mine had this problem recently, I believe the issue was that gphoto doesn't recognize SDXC cards, something to do with needing to use FUSE. I could have sworn they got a fix landed for that, but I don't know how long it'll take to make it into a release of gphoto and then from there to a release of DT On 05/02/2018 04:26 PM, Abhijit Kshirsagar wrote: Hello all!
