To clarify further (you posted the same link twice ;-) ), I meant the St
jean ride:

It is fine gravel after Chambly. I did that regularly with 23mm tires, no
problems with my road bike. Wider tires will bring you comfort as for any
road but I don't

To clarify, this is the out-and-back through Chambly
(https://www.strava.com/activities/435890583), yes? From what I
gather, this has some loose gravel and might not be entirely ideal for
a proper
Anyone want to join me on Sunday for the Saint Jean sur Richelieu ride?
Lucas mentioned turning this into a day trip. Given that it is planned on
Wednesday, I cannot confirm I can be there yet (work).
But if I can, I don't mind doing the same trip twice.
That means you can join me on Sunday
If anyone wants to borrow my bike, they are welcome to it.
It's a 50cm nashbar touring bike, with clips, drop handlebars with two
sets of brakes, and an obscene number of gears. I am 170cm and find it
very comfortable. I have misc tools for any basic adjustments.
I also have a helmet you can

Count me in on all but the fastest bicycle trip options. I just finished riding
across Iowa and will have my own bike with me.

In this context, does 'hike' mean biking, or walking?

I set up a couple of shorter routes in graphhopper, one for Lafontaine park
and one for Ile Ste. Helene. Again, I do not know if there is construction
on these roads ... or if the destinations are no longer nice. But they
used to be fabulous places for picnics - I'm hoping they still are.

Hi,
I might join as well for a ~100Km ride if I can rent a proper road bike.
I think the 6th would be best for me.

For shorter rides, you could go for a picnic at Ile Ste. Helene, Parc
Lafontaine, or Mont Royal. On Sundays, there is a Tam-Tam Jam on the east
side of Mont Royal, there are usually rogue unofficial food vendors so if
you are willing to eat their food, you won't have to bring your own.
It has

Very good suggestion, I wanted to keep it short but it isn't that much
longer.
Most of it is dedicated cycleway also. You can see people surf on static
waves in the rapids !

Apologies for using google maps, I could not find a matching trace

Hi,
I'll arrive in time and will bring my bicycle, if airline permits.

If anyone likes to explore the town by bike (<< 20 km), I'm in!

I would also love to join you all, though I'm not sure I'll be able to
follow with my cheap old mountain bike :/
How fast do you guys usually ride ?

Hi,
I might join too. I would need to rent a road bike.
I'm arriving on saturday so won't be available that day.
Btw, it's too bad that Parc Jean Drapeau is closed to cycling during
DebConf. That would have been fun.

I knew this guy would be answering Eric's mail, I don't know why...:-)
For 100km I would suggest going around the Chambly Lake

Plenty of bicycles going around the lake.
Alternatively, following the same route, you can go to St Jean sur
Richelieu:

I would join you if I had time, but I can recommend the path to
Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu going through Chambly.
Once you are out of the city the path is quite nice and you can stop at
Chambly for some sight-seeing. The fort there is one of the oldest in
North America.
If you want to stop and eat
