I'm trying this on archlinux. I installed deluge and
python2-identity-service. After having run the iptables commands in the
archwiki entry for deluge to open ports I ran deluge -s console. Then I
ran deluge and was told I couldn't connect to localhost since the

I replaced deluge with deluge-git a few hours ago and it brought in
additional packages the original deluge never accessed. Maybe this will
be a better run, I'll find out after eating lunch.

I’d suggest that you’d be better off using an existing userid, rather than
setting up a new “console” userid. I don’t know how the deluge package in Arch
is set up, but it may already have a preferred non-root userid. Check
/etc/passwd.

The command is not at issue here; the best parameters for the command
after useradd console is what interests me if any are needed at all. I
can use sudo to enter any account on this machine so will probably
password protect the console once set up if that's the way I decide to
go.
