is of course not very smart, requiring input from user which package to
install, but that's the only I can come up with, lacking more skills.
However, maybe it's better than nothing?
(We could rephrase the template, to mention the package names for graphic-card
firmwares exactly there...)

And pt also failed to build, due to several problems. Also fixed.

utoremoval did not show any grave defects during a quick
look.
So, at the end, I fear without further information or installation/upgrade logs
we are tempted to count this as unreproducible...
