I'm calling this wishlist as usual, but I'm splitting it into two
patches: one for things that really need doing, one for things that
are stylistic and can be put off if necessary.
First, though: the text still says that doing an upgrade from

All of these are "stylistic", and could thus be put off until after
the release if we have to; they include some pretty annoying errors,
but nothing that would stop readers understanding what's intended.

It does not. It uses Wheezy in [1] (4.5.8.2. Screen). Admittedly, it
is not clear to me when which should be used.
