I just had a look at this bug. The real error lies not in xfe but
in the FOX library toolkit in the FXSettings class.
I added a patch that should fix the bug by verifying all fput*()
calls for success when writing the settings.

i just tried building launchtool with a relatively clean sarge install,
and the build went fine.
