There is a patch in ubuntu addressing this. It tries to unmount
repeatedly. I don't know how well that can work. Can't a mounted
filesystem be prevented from unmounting at all due to the desktop's file
manager/etc?

As this bug, and all the other ones, have had no reply from the maintainer
ever, I plan to address this bug, together with some others in an upload.
The upload would also change the maintainer to the QA group, thus orphaning
the package.
