As a workaround, I noticed that setting the main ethernet interface to
"auto" instead of "allow-hotplug" seems to fix the problem. By way of
confirmation, on a different (virtual) machine changing the "auto" to
"allow-hotplog" on the main ethernet interface causes the same problem
to manifest.
It's https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8262085 - fixed in openjdk 17.
Can you please backport it to openjdk-11 in order to solve this bug?
JOSM is heavily impacted by it, we receive a lot of bug reports.
Thanks,
Vincent

Hello - I also had this issue with a recent update. I had to boot to rescue and
force install grub and bootloader.
It's a laptop with single NVMe hard drive with lvm and luks setup by the
default debian install.
I think this previously happened in the past year.
What can I do to help? I
I reported this bug a long time ago. I had been hoping that by now some
update to Debian would contain a fixed Nouveau that would work as
expected with this old hardware. I'm still hoping ...
I have also been playing around with this myself -- I don't know enough
about video hardware (or

Have you reported it upstream? Upstream does not read the Debian BTS.

Hi there,
Activating Plymouth's pretty bootsplash graphics by adding "splash" to the
default Linux commandline in /etc/default/grub worked as expected. Both
plymouth-preview and an actual reboot showed the Debian "homeworld" default
theme.
