Bug#345509: AOL

2006-01-02 Thread Eric Dorland
I'm seeing this too. The interesting part might be the line:

(WW) RADEON(0): Failed to detect secondary monitor, MergedFB/Clone
mode disabled

Not sure if that's the problem though. It may also have been reported
upstream as https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5178.

Bug#345557: source: debian/patches applies not clean.

2006-01-02 Thread Christian Perrier

Switching to dpatch would give me hives. OTOH, switching to quilt might be
worth considering, precisely because it gives a better toolset for fuzzies
 and patch dependencies.

I fully agree here.

I use quilt in shadow and geneweb and it makes life *very* comfortable
(though I don't actually use the patch dependencies).

Now we need to find out *who* can do this..:)

possibly be difficult to include; please add support for this ethernet

Please provide us with the output of (lspci ; lspci -n)|sort and the

Correct... I stumpled across this problem while I created git and

Not specifically asciidoc, but versioned dependencies in general. I

Shouldn't the target of word load be fr23L or fr23R?

But info float shows fr23 and fr23R - both 32-bit values:
fr23 1.7488 (raw 0x3fdf)
fr23R -nan(0x30a780) (raw 0xffb0a780)

I was expecting fr23 to be a 64-bit value (always).

Anyway something *is* causing the SIGILL in dmesg:

0x30 is Invalid Exception.

PA20 arch book (page 8-6 and -7) describes a single precision
floating point with E 127 to indicate it's NaN (Not a Number).
The tail end of NaN handling on Page 8-24 clearly says load and

how fldw could be any of them.

Package: svn-buildpackage

Hi,

after some discussion on IRC about the usefulness of a --no-branches option, I

The original idea came up in the pkg-ruby-extras project, which uses a build
system that pulls in upstream sources using a different script. The `branches'
subdirectory is not needed in their repository layout.

The patch is relatively small, but may need some cleaning up.

Cheers,
Thierry

What do you think about this:

The problem is still that if CONFFILE is somehow mistyped, it still
fails silently even if the fragment fixes the error I had with
permissions. For my view the correct operation would be following:

 1) if CONFFILE (from command line) is set, use it. If it does not
exists or is unreadable, issue an error

 2) if CONFFILE is not set, but the default CONFFILE exists AND is
 readable use it

 3) if default CONFFILE exists, but is unreadable, provide an error

 4) if default CONFFILE does not exists, use defauls

This sounds right to me. I've patched CVS similar to the below.
Thanks again.

To have 1), command line argument processing should be modified as below

 case $opt in
 c)
 debug Setting CONFFILE to $OPTARG
 CONFFILE=$OPTARG
   if [ ! -r $CONFFILE ]; then
error Config file $CONFFILE unreadable or does not exists

For 2) and 4), the existing condition is ok, but needs additional
 condition for 3).

 if [ -r $CONFFILE ]; then
   . $CONFFILE
 elif [ -f $CONFFILE ]; then # this provides 3)
   error Config file $CONFFILE unreadable

Please add it to your next package revision, it should be inserted in

Bug#345617: smart-notifier: wrong python dependency

2006-01-02 Thread Paul Wise
Package: smart-notifier
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: uninstallable

The python package is at version 2.3 in debian. Please rebuild the
package with debian (instead of ubuntu/whatever), which uses python 2.3.
It probably isn't nessecary to depend on the python2.3 versions of
pyglade and pygtk either.

In addition, the rebuilt package does not work on my system, but that is
a story for another bug.

I had been trying to find the time to write the manpages etc which are
required to make the packages lintian clean (I'll be honest: I doubt I'm
ever going to get round to it...). I guess that's only a minor bug which
 can get fixed in time.

There is also one more bug: The packages seem to ignore version
suffixes, to modules built for a 2.6.14.5-darren end up in
/lib/modules/2.6.14.5 instead of /lib/modules/2.6.14.5-darren, which
of course makes them hard to find.

If you guys think that doesn't matter too much then I think the current
packages are in a state where they could be uploaded, assuming Eduard is
 still willing to sponsor them.

If Eduard is too busy, I can sponsor you as well. However, I do not
have too much clue about Linux TV as I am just getting started with
that topic. I have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350 available for testing,
though.

It works with linux-image-2.6.14-1-k7, where it is supplied as a
 separate package.

It works also, but the uncompression has been moved out of the kernel driver,
into an hypothetical userland. That said, userland apps have not adapted to
it, nor has any userland way of uncompressing it surfaced in any way.

That said, the third-party old-pwc module is still there, and needs just to be
rebuilt against the 2.6.14-2 abi, and it will do the proper diversion or
whatever of the pwc module and work well, so i believe what you see is a pwc
external driver package bug which has not yet been rebuild against the new
ABI.

Bug#336373: subversion: svn MKCOL ssl error

2006-01-02 Thread Daniel Pittman
Package: subversion
Version: 1.2.3dfsg1-3
Severity: grave

G'day.

I have run into a problem where I can't commit a change to my subversion
repository via HTTP/SSL.

The problem seems identical to the one described in this bug report, but
my issues continue despite running the version that claims to have fixed
the problem.

The server is running an up-to-date version of unstable as well, and I
have verified that the same version of subversion and all appropriate
modules are installed and running on both sides.

The error I see is:

svn: Commit failed (details follow):
svn: MKCOL of
'/svn/general/!svn/wrk/6796d7ea-5b09-0410-9cde-b6775cbebef8/debian/perl/librose-html-objects-perl-0.32/lib/Rose':
SSL negotiation failed: SSL error: decryption failed or bad record mac
(https://digital-infrastructure.com.au)

There are, annoyingly enough, no errors at all in the Apache logs on the
server side, which makes tracking this down much more annoying.

The commit in question is fairly large, as it adds 8.2MB of files,
representing 662 individual files.

Other commits seem to work just fine, but they are much smaller.

I have run into this once before -- but it was a much smaller commit, a
long time ago, and not at all reproducible. At the time I couldn't
identify any particular cause...

I wonder if perhaps this is some sort of SSL renegotiation bug that
triggers when submitting a sufficiently large commit or something?

 Daniel

Bug#341561: Rapid/Debian packages for AMPortal

2006-01-02 Thread Diego Iastrubni
The debs on that site are really old, and contain A LOT of problems.
Even the new ones I have locally (1.10.010), contain a lot of hacks
which IMHO should not be in an official Debian package. We folks at
Xorcom will release new debs in the not so far away future, and one of
my personal goals is bringing that package into Debian.

The problem is that the new package depends on rapid-scripts, for HW
detection that we added, we have some fixes to Asterisk which are still
not on Debian, the split to packages is not done in a smart way,
etc there is some job to be done before we can add AMP into
Debian. I will file an ITP as soon as I am satisfied with the quality of
the package.

Don't worry, be happy :)

Bug#345619: debian-policy: 4.8. binary-{arch, indep} should fail with error code 2 - must

2006-01-02 Thread Kari Pahula
Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.6.2.1
Severity: wishlist

Debian policy 4.8. states:
If one or both of the targets `build-arch' and `build-indep' are
not provided, then invoking `debian/rules' with one of the
not-provided targets as arguments should produce a exit status
code of 2.

I'm proposing that this would be changed to must produce.
debian/rules binary-* has the bits requiring root privileges and
build-* has the steps that can be done without. As such, debian/rules
build-* is often called explicitly before $rootcommand debian/rules
binary-*.

But, since it's not a requirement for debian/rules build-{arch,indep}
to return an error when the targets are missing, tools such as
dpkg-buildpackage have no choice but to always call debian-rules build
even when building arch dependent packages.

If it was required that the missing rules returned an exit status,
dpkg-buildpackage could try debian/rules build-arch first and then
debian/rules build if that failed.

An alternative would be to require that build-{arch,indep} are always
present and both depending on build target, just like already done
with binary-* targets. But that would require larger changes.

As they are now, build-{arch,indep} targets are less useful than what
they could be.

I became somewhat frustrated using videogen.
It worked OK when I used -m=1280x768
When I tried -m=1366x768 I got a confusing error.

$ /usr/X11R6/bin/videogen -m=1366x768
argument 1 (-m=1366x768) has an invalid parameter
command line syntax error

The error message dosen't explain what I'm doing wrong.
I had to read the souce code to figure out the problem.

When I read the source I noticed several other types of error messages
were also defaulting to a meaningless message.

I've attached a patch to fix the problem and provide better error
messages.

Regards,
Michael Sebastian

I'll reassign the bug to gaim, change the title and the severity to

The only way I found to resume the boot process is to type CTRL+C,

I'm not a developper, but I think that the mount start-up script

Are you sure it *never* returns? Maybe there's just some kind of

I've heard this before and I _think_ it is a module-assistant bug (or at
least a bug in my usage of m-a). I'm not sure how to solve it since the
suffix doesn't seem to be easily available when building the modules.
With make-kpkg it works OK because the suffix is passed in already.

If you guys think that doesn't matter too much then I think the current
packages are in a state where they could be uploaded, assuming Eduard is
  still willing to sponsor them.

If Eduard is too busy, I can sponsor you as well. However, I do not
have too much clue about Linux TV as I am just getting started with
that topic. I have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 350 available for testing,
 though.

That would be handy, lets wait and see what Eduard says, he may well be
on vacation at the minute.

Bug#340166: Crossgrade from postgresql 7.4 to postgresql-7.4 broke DATADIR environment variables

2006-01-02 Thread Markus Schaber
Hi, Martin,

Martin Pitt wrote:

I used to have this setting in the init.d scripts, but as an apt-get
upgrade overwrote this file, I was told to use postmaster.env instead. I
don't remember whether there was an official bug filing, or this was

I did never see that bug, so maybe it was in a private email to Oliver
 Elphick?

Well, I searched my mail archive, and it was a side discussion in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=284364

I also mis-remembered: It was postmaster.conf that was advised, and this
is what we used on most machines. I don't know where the .env slipped in.

As a workaround until all 7.4 databases are migrated, I just want to
know the right place where to hack in this environment variable, so the
postmaster process can access it.

As far as I can see, an equivalent to the old postgresql.env file
seems to make sense and would also offer a transition path for the old
/etc/postgresql/postgresql.env file. So if postgresql-common would
 support /etc/postgresql/version/cluster/environment, then you could
add these variables there, and the transitional postgresql package
 could move postgresql.env there.

 Do you agree?

Yes, this would solve my problem.

Thanks,
Markus

Bug#345626: renattach --delete fails to remove all of the attachment

2006-01-02 Thread Tommi Virtanen
Package: renattach
Version: 1.2.2-1

I have an email virus checker that quarantines suspect messages.
When notifying the recipient of this, I add the original message
as an attachment, with its attachments made harmless by
renattach --all --delete. So far, this has worked great.

The virus message attached to this message, however, has an
empty line inside the attachment. This makes renattach stop
discarding the attachment, letting the empty line and everything
after it through. And this makes the virus checker trigger again,
sending a new notification, which starts with an empty line, which
makes renattach let the empty line and everything after it through.
And we get a mail loop.

Attached is a patch that makes this immediate problem go away. I
have no idea if it breaks something else, and renattach does not
seem to have any tests I could run. Also, I think the attachment
could contain lines starting with -- that are not the MIME boundary,
so it seems this bug won't be fixed this easily. It should probably
skip to the next boundary, no matter what the attachment content is.

The attached virus message gpg symmetrically encrypted to make it
pass through any checking on the way to the bug tracking system.
The passphrase is foo, without the quotes. Just run gpg virus.gpg.

Bug#279422: State of python-nltk?

Hi!

Are you still interested in packaging python-nltk? Your ITP is pretty

in this bug report but I didn't find any conclusion.

I'm asking because a non-DD asked me to sponsor his python-nltk

teaching purposes. I think he would be a good maintainer for the
package.

Please tell me if you're still working on the package or if it's ok
for us to take it over.

[ERROR] abcde: syntax error while processing track numbers

According to the manpage, this should work:

Accepts ranges of track numbers - abcde 1-5 7 9 will process tracks
 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9.

The problem is line 110:

if echo i | grep -q [[:digit:]] ; then

It works as expected if I change this to

if echo $i | grep -q [[:digit:]] ; then

I then tried tailboxbg with and-widget, as you usually would use it,
and found out that I could not move between the tailboxbg widget and
the other widget (a checklist) with TAB, as was possible before.
Instead, TAB moved between the checklist's OK/Cancel. I suppose this is
a result of the new user-definable key bindings.

no - that's a different bug that is older than 20051107 (will look into
that, but it's a normal one rather than serious).

The problem is still that if CONFFILE is somehow mistyped, it still
fails silently even if the fragment fixes the error I had with

  1) if CONFFILE (from command line) is set, use it. If it does not

  2) if CONFFILE is not set, but the default CONFFILE exists AND is

  3) if default CONFFILE exists, but is unreadable, provide an error

no the debian packaging takes care of that,
no need to issue an error in that case.
if you change the permissions of the CONFFILE you are on your own.

Bug#345630: abcde: Use mkdir -p when creating temporary directories

2006-01-02 Thread Glyn Kennington
Package: abcde
Version: 2.3.99.2-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

If I have my WAVOUTPUTDIR set to eg. /tmp/rip, then this is deleted
when cleaning /tmp, but abcde needs it to exist to create its own
subdirectory /tmp/rip/abcde.discid. It would be useful if abcde were
to create any required parent directories, using mkdir -p, rather than
complaining that the temporary directory canot be created.

Trivial patch attached.

Version: 1.6.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When running aqhbci-qt3-wizard (either standalone or through qbankmanager or
kmymoney2) I cannot create a working configuration. When going through the
wizard
everything works fine until after filling in the user details (bank, user,

Well, I'm not using the package myself at the moment. So I think it's

Bug#345570: netatalk: ftbfs [sparc] cannot find -lcrypto

This is really strange. All other autobuilders had no problems building
this package. Also, where does the dependency to libcrypto actually come

 config.log, and config.status?

 Thanks,

Trying to reproduce the problem so I could provide the requested
files, it now builds on my sparc pbuilder. This seems to indicate
that a change in a build-dependancy happened.

With Microsoft, failure is not an option. It is a standard feature.

In NO CASE should program functionality depend on some package
management system. The program should be able to work as well without
or with random package management system.

Considering that debian userid management is something that is very
fragile, I would prefer that the script also checks possible problems
with configuration. Even more important this is when it is about
logcheck, whose sole purpose is to detect unintended events in systems.

Hi, cg-add refuses to add special files such as dangling symlinks while
git can handle them just fine. Please see http://bugs.debian.org/313596

I'm not sure why cg-add checks files to commit with test -f.

Bug#345632: linda: Can't handle spaces in man page file names

2006-01-02 Thread Mark Brown

Running linda on the clc-intercal package produces the following
warning:

through lexgrog.

Since the same manual page is also installed as oo,space, ick (since a
number of tools have trouble with spaces in file names) and no mention
is made of that I'm guessing that the problem is the space in the file
name.

With make-kpkg it works OK because the suffix is passed in already.

I am using make-kpkg with the same problem. sl-modem, ieee80211 and

Try the version I've just uploaded, it seems to do the right thing for

Bug#337603: Probable GHC bug

2006-01-02 Thread John Goerzen
retitle 337603 Hang on s390
reassign 337603 ghc6
thanks

Hello everyone,

The original bug appears to be limited to s390. I see binary packages
have been built for 8 platforms without trouble. I believe the bug
lies with GHC, so I am reassigning this bug to ghc6.

The patch in this bug appears to address a different problem. I am
uploading new -4 packages that include a modified version of this
patch (the build-deps in the patch weren't quite right).

However, since the original problem does not appear to be addressed by
this patch, I'm going to leave the bug open and let Ian decide what to
do about it.

One curious thing though: s390 is among the platforms for which this
package exists at
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?searchon=namesversion=allexact=1keywords=libghc6-wash-dev.

Anyway, this is fixed in ooo-build; will be in the next upload.

Still I can't compile because of an out of memory error on gcc.

Wow.. This makes complete sense. Filing a important bug for a

following message to be output on sterr:

 /usr/bin/libtool: line 606: --: command not found

Other than that, operation still seems correct.

Please show the whole command line. I can reproduce this if for
instance I use gcc-4.0 instead of gcc or cc. I then get:
$ libtool --mode=link gcc-4.0 tst.c -o tst
/usr/bin/libtool: line 606: --: command not found
libtool: link: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: link: specify a tag with `--tag'

Adding a --tag=CC fixes my problem:
$libtool --mode=link --tag=CC gcc-4.0 tst.c -o tst
gcc-4.0 tst.c -o tst

Normally using gcc also fixes the problem:
$libtool --mode=link gcc tst.c -o tst
gcc tst.c -o tst

Bug#345635: gallery: Unauthorized Direct Photo Access Possible

2006-01-02 Thread kazuki
Package: gallery
Version: 1.5-1sarge1
Severity: important

Normally, accessing photos in a password protected albums require logging in.
If you try to access http://hostname/gallery/album01/aaa, and the album
requires logging in, you are redirected to Attention page. But if you
type http://hostname/albums/album01/aaa or http://hostname/albums/album01/
aaa.jpg, you can directly see the picture without logging in.

This problem can be partially fixed by adding something like,
SetEnvIf REFERER http://hostname; OK
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
Allow from env=OK
to apache config file. But if you do this you probably can't access
movie files, which are often opened by external programs.

Bug#345636: debsign: don't fail if there's no controlling terminal

2006-01-02 Thread Matthias Urlichs
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.9.10
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

debsign uses stty to save/restore terminal settings. Unfortunately, some
people run it without a controlling terminal (which is perfectly reasonable
if using the gpg agent), which makes stty print an ugly error message
and fail, which kills the script for no good reason.

Fix: Use 2/dev/null and ||true.

Bug#321689: automake1.9: make dist distributes too many files (dist-info)

I think that the dist-info rule in /usr/share/automake-1.9/am/texinfos.am

Please try this patch (against CVS Automake, but should apply to

It may be useful to refactor all texinfo rules to have the globs in one

Eric, please consider adding bug-automake at gnu.org when reporting

Thank you.

I can't seem to access the Debian package diffs at the moment, but
searching the web turns up a rule like this in debian/rules:

echo '# ### BEGIN LIBTOOL TAG CONFIG: BINCC' libtool
sed -n -e '/^# ### BEGIN LIBTOOL CONFIG/,/^# ### END LIBTOOL CONFIG/p'
 libtool \
| grep -B 2 -A 1 -e '^LTCC=' -e '^CC=' \
| sed -e 's/gcc/cc/g' libtool
echo '# ### END LIBTOOL TAG CONFIG: BINCC' libtool
echo libtool

grep -A/-B outputs a line with two dashes as separator for matches, if
more than one is found. This is exposed with 1.5.22, as we backported
LTCFLAGS support to it, and thus LTCC is not immediately followed by CC
any more.

You could change the last sed command to kill those separators:
| sed '/^--/d;s/gcc/cc/g' libtool

Similar applies to BINCXX.

Aside, you should probably include LTCFLAGS in the BINCC tag as well.

Cheers,
Ralf

This package contains the 'update-python-modules' script, which takes

Private modules are automatically rebuilt upon major python upgrades,
avoiding the need for strong dependencies.

Public modules are automatically made available for all installed python

I have prepared a patched dh_python version that will make use of

I see.

Of course, the values with stars (*) are replaced by their correct
values in my configuration. I have enabled access to PostgreSQL in
 pg_hba.conf via this line:

 local horde2 hordemgrpassword

Now, if you look at my logs below, the first attempt succeeds as it is a
socket connection (host=[local]). However, after that, a TCP connection
is attempted (host=127.0.0.1) and subsequently denied. Looking below at
the horde3.log, you can see that imp is the culprit.

Something is causing IMP to not abide with the configuration of horde.
Perhaps there is a place where the connection defaults to TCP instead of
actually checking the configuration as specified?

I checked with the code in horde
/usr/share/horde3/lib/Horde/Prefs/sql.php file and it never use the option
socket. Where did you find that you could set that option?

If I add a line permitting the horde database user to connect to the
PostgreSQL server via TCP, then all is well. However, IMP really should
connect via a socket if that is what I have setup in the configuration.

I followed your instructions step by step and the package build for
 me, with no errors whatsoever.

On the day I reported the bug I tried the procedure on 4 different
machines (all running a more or less up-to-date sid) and the error
showed up on all of them. Today, after updating the machines once more,
everything works fine on all of them, no idea what went wrong the other
day.

So, sorry for the noise.

Bug#342650: pike7.6: The pike package is present in sarge but missing from etch.

2006-01-02 Thread Edward Welbourne
I note with glee, upon my return from mid-winter holidays, that the
pike package set now shows up among etch's New Packages (as reported
by aptitude) - bug fixed, thank you :-)

 any more.

I noticed that it had that -- in it before, I just never saw it
generate any problems.

You could change the last sed command to kill those separators:
 | sed '/^--/d;s/gcc/cc/g' libtool

Thanks for the suggestion.

 Similar applies to BINCXX.

Aside, you should probably include LTCFLAGS in the BINCC tag as well.

BINCC only? BINCXX seems to have it too, so I'll do it for both.

Bug#331764: boa: NMU - Additional info

2006-01-02 Thread Frans Pop
My first upload was not accepted as I'd not realized that boa does not
have a separate upstream tarball. Oh well, that was corrected and it is
now in.

I made one additional change in the final accepted upload and that was to
correct the build dependency on debhelper in line with the change of the
compatibility level. It now has:
Build-Depends: debhelper (= 5.0)

I don't think it does now.

 Thanks for the suggestion.

BTW, this might generate problems on MinGW (because of the automatic
argv rewriting for win32 paths); not that I expect Debian's libtool to
end up there, but some things end up where you never expected them..

Sure, I did not mean to imply that.

Bug#345617: smart-notifier: wrong python dependency

Er, I guess I can only say 'oops' to this.

I will try to make this package only depend on python2.3 and not python
(as was my original intention).

It probably isn't nessecary to depend on the python2.3 versions of
 pyglade and pygtk either.

There is no python-dbus. So unless I want to mix python- and python2.3-
dependencies, I can't do that.

In addition, the rebuilt package does not work on my system, but that is
 a story for another bug.

I am still interested in this story, would you mind letting me know so
that I can try to fix them both at the same time?

Bug#345327: gst-plugins-base0.10 - FTBFS: missing build dependency

2006-01-02 Thread Sebastian Dröge
Hi,
the gst-plugins-base0.10 package is only missing a Build-Depend on
libxt-dev. This is required for the check for X as it is otherwise
missing the X11/Intrinsic.h file, fails and doesn't set the correct
library include path for -lX11

Bye
