Bug#390270: amaya: Amaya corrupts files when saving
Hi, Thanks for the details. I tried it and didn't get the same problem as you, , but still got some strange things. Attached is the result file after simply adding a carriage return and a space, which contains some funny characters, and is definitely a bug. I also checked with a more recent version and will try with the CVS one, before forwarding it upstream. (I need to rebuild it all first, however, so it might take a bit). Perhaps you can hook a fontconfig cache update with defoma? So far, I've studiously avoided defoma; it's doing weird things with fonts (symlinks to /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d?). Sure thing -- find it attached But regardless, I had a configured calamaris setup, I upgraded it - it broke. That is already an incompatibility, right? Bug#401760: readline function problems
Chali Ahmul M.P.U wrote: This bug is related to strange implementation of build-in readline function. This has little something to do with settings of terminal, but IMHO it's the problem of gnuplot itself. If you want to use the proper readline function. Recompile gnuplot yourself with ./configure --with-readline=gnu (you need a libreadline). Thank you, I will try. Debian can't do this in its gnuplot package, because there are some licensing problems. This works on gentoo Why you post this bug here?:o) Because at home, i'm working with gentoo and had no problem with it.At work, i'm using a debian. I talked about gentoo, just to say it was not a problem of gnuplot or konsole themselves, but really a problem of the integration of the one or the other in Debian. I will try to recompile gnuplot with the options you gave. Thank you. Chali Ahmul M.P.U ___ Découvrez une nouvelle façon d'obtenir des réponses à toutes vos questions ! Bug#359011: xscreensaver support
On Saturday 25 March 2006, you wrote: The --root mostly works, but the integration leaves a bit to be desired: * Output on stderr gets echoed through to the screen Is this an xscreensaver issue/feature? Kanjisaver doesn't have anything in it that could cause that to happen. Run xscreensaver with the command line option -no-capture-stderr or alternatively in $HOME/.xscreensaver make sure the following is set: captureStderr: False I believe default is True and that causes all of the error messages to scroll through kanjisaver. -- Kevin Coyner GnuPG key: 1024D/8CE11941 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#401784: epiphany-browser: Some characters not displayed correctly
Package: epiphany-browser Version: 2.14.3-3 Severity: normal I have noticed for some time that some characters are not shown correctly on some pages, but they are on most. I have been trying to find some kind of pattern, but have been unable to do so. The characters are shown as squares with numbers in them, as if the character was not represented in any font. Package: qiv Version: 2.0-6 Followup-For: Bug #351816 Yes, this is a bug that needed fixing; but your workaround introduces a significant regression, so would you mind mentioning it in a NEWS.Debian file? That way, users with apt-listchanges installed will get a chance to see a warning on upgrade to the fixed version. The README.Debian needs updating too. Bug#400140: neon026 and .la files
[Joe Orton] `neon-config --la-file` is part of the defined and documented neon interface: removing the .la file breaks that interface, and hence will break applications designed to build against neon. So, I was the one who requested that the neon26 maintainer remove the .la file. I'll incorporate Ondrej and Steve's comments by reference here - suffice it to say Debian has good reasons to want to phase out .la files entirely, if possible. As for 'neon-config --la-file', I am curious why it even exists. Is not 'neon-config --libs' just as effective? If you pass -lneon to libtool --mode=link, it looks for the .la file anyway and uses it if found. So even on platforms where the .la file adds real value, 'neon-config --libs' should still work perfectly. As for Debian, changing 'neon-config --la-file' to be a synonym for 'neon-config --libs' is probably the right thing to do. Peter signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#401790: ITP: hedgewars -- worms like game
Package: hedgewars Version: 0.8.1-5 Severity: wishlist * Package name: hedgewars Version: 0.8.1 Upstream Author: Andrey Korotaev [EMAIL PROTECTED], Igor Ulyanov [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL: http://hedgewars.org/ * License: GPLv2 Description: Worms style game Each player controls a team of several hedgehogs. During the course of the game, players take turns with one of their hedgehogs. They then use whatever tools and weapons are available to attack and kill the opponents' hedgehogs, thereby winning the game. Hedgehogs may move around the terrain in a variety of ways, normally by walking and jumping but also by using particular tools such as the Rope or Parachute, to move to otherwise inaccessible areas. Each turn is time-limited to ensure that players do not hold up the game with excessive thinking or moving. . A large variety of tools and weapons are available for players during the game: Grenade, Cluster Bomb, Bazooka, UFO, Shotgun, Desert Eagle, Fire Punch, Baseball Bat, Dynamite, Mine, Rope, Pneumatic pick, Parachute. Most weapons, when used, cause explosions that deform the terrain, removing circular chunks. The landscape is an island floating on a body of water, or a restricted cave with water at the bottom. A hedgehog dies when it enters the water (either by falling off the island, or through a hole in the bottom of it), it is thrown off either side of the arena or when its health is reduced, typically from contact with explosions, to zero (the damage dealt to the attacked hedgehog or hedgehogs after a player's or CPU turn is shown only when all movement on the battlefield has ceased). -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.17-2-686 Locale: LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages hedgewars depends on: ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-19 GCC support library ii libqt4-core 4.2.1-2 Qt 4 core non-GUI functionality ru ii libqt4-gui 4.2.1-2 Qt 4 core GUI functionality runtim ii libsdl-image1.2 1.2.5-2+b1 image loading library for Simple D ii libsdl-mixer1.2 1.2.6-1.1+b2 mixer library for Simple DirectMed ii libsdl-net1.2 1.2.5-7+b1 network library for Simple DirectM ii libsdl-ttf2.0-0 2.0.8-3+b1 ttf library for Simple DirectMedia ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.11-7 Simple DirectMedia Layer ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-19 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii ttf-dejavu 2.11-1 Vera font family derivate with add hedgewars recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: emacs21 Version: 21.4a+1-1 Severity: minor The doc string for c-indent-region says: Indent every line whose first char is between START and END inclusive. But c-indent-region doesn't; it indents the first line even if the region starts on a later column (not the first). Bug#401784: epiphany-browser: Some characters not displayed correctly
Hi, This is bug #368779, for libxul0d, not really the fault of epiphany. Basically, those sites you describe declare themselves as being encoded in iso-8859-x, when they really are windows-125x. Firefox/Iceweasel and most other browser have simply given up on such sites and simply treats iso-8859-x as windows-125x, but the libxul0d maintainer refuses to do so. Maybe when iceweasel starts using libxul and most users will see this the situation can be improved... -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#401153: backtrace for iasl bug #401153
We've never had a request to run iASl on big-endian machines, so I'm not surprised that it doesn't work. Bob -Original Message- From: Guillem Jover [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2006 10:59 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Mattia Dongili; Andreas Henriksson; Moore, Robert Subject: Re: Bug#401153: backtrace for iasl bug #401153 Hi, Mattia I'm sorry you got this, after I asked to enable iasl on all arches to be able to use it in qemu. I started investigating this last week or so, but didn't file a bug report because I've not come yet with a complete solution. Below my current analysis anyway, if I've time I'll try to come up with a full fix... On Sun, 2006-12-03 at 13:13:19 +0100, Mattia Dongili wrote: On Sat, Dec 02, 2006 at 02:27:40AM +0100, Andreas Henriksson wrote: On fre, 2006-12-01 at 15:43 -0800, Moore, Robert wrote: I'm not sure I understand what you are describing, please clarify. Please see http://bugs.debian.org/401153 for the original bug report. Basically, iasl successfully compiles the atteched dsl file on a regular i386 pc, but when running the same program on PowerPC (Debian GNU/Linux) then you get a segmentation fault. There is probably a bug in the program somewhere which seems to only trigger on powerpc at the moment. It has been tracked down to being related to Asl.Value.String being NULL. This state seems invalid and makes the program crash. Do you have any idea what might have failed and how this variable could be uninitialized? It would be really appreciated if you have any hints about possible failures that we can investigate... This is a problem of endinaness. iasl does not work on big-endian boxes. The main issue is that the bison parser is using Value.Integer (which is an ACPI_INTEGER and in 32 bit arches it's a 64 bit type) to assign the values to the union ACPI_PARSE_VALUE. And then when accessing the pointers or the 'Size' variable it gets only the MSW, which is 0, so my workaround has been to define that we cannot use a 64 bit type for ACPI_INTEGER on 32 bit arches. Ideally the union should be filled using the proper member. This fixes the segfault. There's mentions in the changes.txt from 2003 of added support for big-endian systems, which was the first thing I tried, to enable the ACPI_BIG_ENDIAN macro for those arches (that's included in the patch anyway), but this didn't help. I suppose the code has evolved since then and that support has been lost because no one run it on such arches. Then the next problem is that iasl generates output, but that output is wrong. The output needs to be swapped to make it little-endian. AFAIS the problem is located in compiler/aslcodegen.c in most of the functions that are using CgLocalWriteAmlData, as they should be converting those values to little-endian when writting. But it didn't feel right to keep the TableHeader stored as little-endian in memory, as some other parts of the code use and reference it. So problably this needs to be swapped when dumping to the disk. Just as a side note, I tried compiling the mentioned DSDT on an ARM platform and I get a different error: I was trying it on arm little endian and it worked, the same for mipsel. The attached patch fixes the segfault, and corrects the CFLAGS handling for upstream and Debian, it also adds alpha to the list of 64 bit arches. The fix for compiler/aslopcodes.c is needed because the macros ACPI_UINT32_MAX: and ACPI_INTEGER_MAX are the same if ACPI_INTEGER is defined to be 32 bits. regards, guillem

Bug#401388: neon26: please put two alternative packages in the shlibs files
[Laszlo Boszormenyi] Also it would fetch more dependencies (GnuTLS related just for neon) and I don't know if Subversion serving over https would interfere with Apache2 or not. Reason: Apache2 is linked with OpenSSL, Subversion and neon will be linked with GnuTLS. Don't worry about that: the subversion apache modules do not link to neon directly or indirectly. As for libsvn_ra_dav (the client library that uses neon), I've tested it lightly against a https repository using libneon26-gnutls, and it works fine. I'll try to do some more testing this afternoon. For now, I will ask what upstream says about this. Please decide if I should switch to GnuTLS support only; but then please schedule binNMUs for Subversion and OpenOffice.org . If you decide to support gnutls only, that would be 'libneon26', right? So no binNMU needed, but a source upload would be needed for bazaar. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Actually, kwin does not provide a menu entry, and I would suggest metacity to do the same. I think that would address this bug. I agree that window managers that are unable to start applications by themselves (even if only a X terminal) must not be in the debian menu, because users are then stuck with a non-functionnal environment.
