Bug#426238: not any more the reported error, but not syncing anyway
good morning Kurt, the 'kernel time sync error 0001' messages only appear *before* the reboot with kernel 2.6.21 (May 27 18:04:20)... previously I was running 2.6.18... but the time resets needed are still out of control. I assume that ntpd killed itself after the failing sanity check at (May 28 03:44:53) how can we exclude a hardware problem? Bug#426348: tk8.4-dev: please ship the compat subdirectory.
Package: tk8.4-dev Version: 8.4.12-1 Severity: wishlist Dear maintainer, I am trying to build a program with Debian's tk8.4 a program which needs files from the compat directory. Do you think that you could ship it in the /usr/include/tcl8.4/tk-private directory with the tk8.4-dev package? If yes, as I am using Etch, do you think that a backport or an update could be provided? Of course, it there were a workaround, I would be most happy to use it and close this bug... To see this, compile the code using, e.g., gcc bug.c -lonig and then run it: ./a.out On my debian etch system, I see: Segmentation fault (core dumped) I set the severity level to grave because this bug makes the library unusable to me. Surely scaled means that at least one dimension should be scaled to the full available space? I can't reproduce this, here the scale option works as it should (only one dimension is ajusted, the other one lets see the background color). Could you provide a screenshot, and possibly the wallpaper you used ? Do you have any progress on this, or should we consider the bug fixed? I'm sorry, I never got the earlier e-mail for some reason. I just tried it again, and verified that the bug still exists in xfdesktop4 4.4.1-2. I've attached a screenshot of the buggy behaviour, and the backdrop. Note that I have only observed this bug with this specific scaling. I really can't reproduce this: http://heracles.corsac.net/~corsac/debian/xfce/sunset.png but I don't have a 4:3 display. If you resize manually the picture to be 1024x768 does this still happen? I'll try to trigger the bug by resizing a 1280x854 backdrop to something less and let xfdesktop resize it. Bug#426352: gambas2: doesn't correctly render on Xfce
Sorry, but I don't see any error in your screenshots. The only thing I apreciate is the big size of the windows. In gambas it depends on the size of the default fonts in qt. Debian qt default configuration is really awful, so you should change it. I attach you the file qtrc (to be placed in ~/.qt/) I use without any problem. You can do your own configuration installing the package kcontrol and changing the size of the fonts by yourself. Please, confirm me that's your problem to close this bug. Regards. José L. Hi, Thanks for your report. I looked at the code, but although I could determine where the error occurs I do not yet understand why it happens. Dares aborts while checking conditions that should always be, but for your image obviously aren't. I contacted the upstream author, but he also fails to see what happens. I'd be glad if you could provide some more information. If possible perhaps a snippet of the image file that causes the error. However, evolution is now able to send signed messages (without using seahorse-agent), which might explain why I thought the issue was solved. I thus repoen the bug with the current unstable version. Do you have an easy way to reproduce this? Yes, simply launch evolution through a keybinding defined in gnome-keybinding-properties and try and send a PGP signed message. Evolution PGP window appears, not seahorse-agent window. Cheers, Julien

Bug#426204: Segmentation fault: *** glibc detected *** powertop: munmap_chunk(): invalid
If you can reproduce the problem, try running powetop in valgrind to pinpoint it. You can run it like this to not mess up the output: valgrind --log-file=/tmp/powertoplog powertop valgrind work best if powertop is compiled with debug information included (-g) and not stripped, but it might give some clues about the problem even without debug information in the binary. Bug#423498: Still getting missing library error
This bug is not fixed in smc package version 0.99.6-1.1. Instealling the libcegui-mk2-dev package is not a sensible solution, as this problems seems more like a missing symlink in libcegui-mk2-0c2a package ( libCEGUIDevILImageCodec.so should point to libCEGUIDevILImageCodec.so.0.0.0 ). It's also not right that the bug should be closed before the packages are tested by the users who have the problem, let alone on a we believe. Should also be noted that the other libcegui libraries cause similar failures on load (once the DevILImageCodec has been symlinked): $ smc CEGUI Exception occurred : DynamicModule::DynamicModule - Failed to load module 'libCEGUIXercesParser.so': libCEGUIXercesParser.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Once that symlink was created: $ smc Couldn't open preferences file : /home/user/.smc/config.xml CEGUI Exception occurred : DynamicModule::DynamicModule - Failed to load module 'libCEGUIFalagardWRBase.so': libCEGUIFalagardWRBase.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I'm guessing the preferences thing is normal, as this should be created on first run. Once this final link is made, the game seems to be perfect. After running once, a second time presents no errors on load (not even the prefs error) :)

Bug#409531: nbd-server: timeout option not very useful
According to URL: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=819235group_id=13229atid=113229 and the tcp(7) manual page, the nbd server should disconnect the connection after 2 hours 11 minutes if the client fail to respond to tcp keepalive requests. The keepalive feature was implemented in 2003, and is present in the Debian package. Is the keepalive feature not working as it should? I guess the timeout should be removed if it isn't working, and we should get the keepalive feature working instead. Bug#423882: kicad: Broken export from 3D Viewer
this bug is fixed upstream in version 2007-05-25. I built and packaged this version yesterday and it still had the problem for me. Perhaps it is caused by wxWidgets 2.6, the binary release must be built against it (because it not longer builds against 2.6 withotu a couple of minor patches). If I can prove that using 2.8 will fix it I'll make sure this bug is marked as blocked by a suitable wx bug, which might motivate them to get 2.8 into debian. I hope that we'll actually get this version uploaded soon, but I'm not a DD so I can't do it myself I have to wait for my co-maintainer (who also isn't a DD) to get a DD to upload it for us. Richard. There's no Linux kernel officially compiled for Debian that is targeted at powerbooks only. Macbooks (pro or not) does not use the ams driver. Bug#426369: thunar: Whit LANG=eu_ES don't show the file's date
Package: thunar Version: 0.8.0-3 Severity: normal Tags: l10n Hello: I'm have a Debian/Etch environment instaled from the stable release time. In the last days I have playing with xfce4 (the default packages from Etch). In the first time I noticed that in thunar I can't see the file's dates (no last modification date, neither last acces date) that are more aged than one week. I only can see the dates that are from the last week (I can see: monday, thusday but in basque languaje :-D). For other rasons (for see how the new thunar manages removable devices), I compiled and instaled thunar_0.8.0-3 and libexo-0.3-0_0.3.2-4 (among others) from the SID repositories. But the problem continues, is the same. But I can see that, if I kill all of the 'thunar --daemon' instancies, and later execs 'export LANG=es_ES thunar --daemon' in a xterm, when I start a new thunar from the desktop icons, thunar have the correct dates in spanish (the week name for the files changed in the week, and the full date (28/05/07 for examp.) for the aged ones). The same occurs when I start it with 'export LANG=C thunar --daemon' (in english now). So the problem may be related to the basque localization, I thinks. Thats all. The problem is not serious in general, but is s molest for me. Thanks in advance. Greetings. In order of preference: 1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments 2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package version name. 3. Move the package to non-free. Bug#426371: upgrades etch system to sid, breaks entire installation
Package: update-manager Version: 0.42.2ubuntu22-11 Severity: critical Hi, My mother (who runs a pristine Etch desktop) complained today that her machine was suddenly getting slow. After a restart, the X server refused to run. A bit of investigation over ssh showed that for a while, her machine was not running Etch at all, but sid -- she's upgrading via update-manager whenever it tells her to, and judging from the dpkg logs (doesn't update-manager have any logs on its own?) it's been happily upgrading her system to recent sid for a while. Now, here's the interesting part: /etc/apt/sources.list does not contain anything about unstable, nor sid. Nor does any apt package lists I've been able to find, nor the software-properties applet. Yet, there were hundreds of packages that needed manual downgrading, and dpkg.log does indeed show upgrading from one sid version of xserver-xorg to another as late as today. For the time being, I've asked her to ignore update-manager, but I don't think this is an acceptable sitution in etch. :-) -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-rc1 (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=nb_NO.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nb_NO.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages update-manager depends on: ii libgnome2-perl 1.040-1 Perl interface to the GNOME librar pn lsb-release none (no description available) ii python 2.4.4-6 An interactive high-level object-o pn python-apt none (no description available) ii python-glade2 2.10.4-2 GTK+ bindings: Glade support ii python-gnome2 2.18.2-1 Python bindings for the GNOME desk pn python-gnupginterface none (no description available) ii python-support 0.6.4automated rebuilding support for p ii synaptic0.57.11.1+b2 Graphical package manager update-manager recommends no packages. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
