Nice report. Like many bugs, this has two parts. The most interesting part is the documentation bug. git-cherry.1 doesn’t really warn about this situation. How about something like this: BUGS If one merges upstream into head (as is often done), then git-cherry will report all commits between the old fork-point and head as no longer found in upstream. ***_*__ new fork-point = upstream / \ old fork-point \ \__+__+__-__+__+__-__+__*_ head While these commits are still part of upstream..head, their upstream counterparts are no longer in head..upstream. It would probably also be useful to add an option to make git cherry take into account the patch-ids of all commits from the upstream branch, as slow as that would be. Thoughts? Bug#551638: Updated patch for dselect bugs
Hi, I discovered that the previous version of my patch re-added the purge ok not-installed packages into status file. Fortunately the issue turned out to be quite simple to fix. I'm attaching a new patch split into two files. The first one, 1_dselect_559519+556889.patch.gz, causes dselect to treat all unknown packages all as already seen. This fixes #556889, since dselect never automatically selects already seen packages for installation. The change is especially visible at the packages' selection screen: the non-patched version shows status `n_' (meaning `new purge') for most packages, for example: n_ Xtr x11 choosewm none 0.1.6-1 fake ... n_ Xtr x11 compiz-fusio none 0.8.4-1 Compiz Fusion ... n_ Xtr x11 compiz-fusio none 0.8.4-2 Compiz Fusion ... My version displays the status as '__' (`purge purge'). I hope the patch would be quite safe for applying in dselect. With the second patch, 2_dselect_551638.patch.gz, dselect stores already seen packages in packages-seen file - one package name in each line. It would be nice if you could apply this patch too, even though you might dislike it e.g. because db is certainly not `fronted united', coding introduces usage of STL maps, strings and iostreams and doesn't look like the awful `C with classes' used elsewhere in dselect codes. Please consider releasing this package soon so some bugs can be fixed for the upcoming release of squeeze. I don't know how plymmouth is working but if/when it exits and the console is again in text mode if you want you can make the script of plymouth to run 'setupcon' (with no arguments) to make sure the console is configured. Ideally the same should be done in case some errors case the console to go to text mode. The new version of Date::Manip does not deal with timezones correctly if they are specified as offsets from GMT. It seems that using a timezone of + in the Date_Init call, or in one of the timezone arguments to Date_ConvTZ, actually tells Date::Manip to use the Europe/London timezone. It is therefore affected by DST, and translates to +0100 during the DST period. Bug#545383: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the root-system package
Dear maintainer of root-system and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the root-system Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four days, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: cs da de es eu fi fr gl it ja pt pt_BR ru sv vi Among these, the following translations are incomplete: da If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the root-system package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Friday, April 02, 2010. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Otherwise the following will happen (or already has): Monday, March 22, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Saturday, March 27, 2010 : send this notice Friday, April 02, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation updates Saturday, April 03, 2010 : build the package and upload it to DELAYED/7-day send the NMU patch to the BTS Saturday, April 10, 2010 : NMU uploaded to incoming Thanks for your efforts and time. -- -- # SOME DESCRIPTIVE TITLE. # Copyright (C) YEAR THE PACKAGE'S COPYRIGHT HOLDER # This file is distributed under the same license as the PACKAGE package. # FIRST AUTHOR em...@address, YEAR. # #, fuzzy msgid msgstr Project-Id-Version: PACKAGE VERSION\n Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: root-sys...@packages.debian.org\n POT-Creation-Date: 2009-02-15 12:03+0100\n PO-Revision-Date: YEAR-MO-DA HO:MI+ZONE\n Last-Translator: FULL NAME em...@address\n Language-Team: LANGUAGE l...@li.org\n MIME-Version: 1.0\n Content-Type: text/plain; charset=CHARSET\n Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n #. Bug#562646: New upstream version
Le samedi 27 mars 2010 à 13:29 +0100, Guido Günther a écrit : Launching plymouth directly on vt7 could indeed be a solution, but I wonder whether X will actually use vt7, or whether it will think it’s already occupied and launch itself on vt8. Fedora has this patch for that: http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/rpms/gdm/F-13/plymouth.patch?revision=1.2view=markup Plymouth touches a force-display-on-active-vt to tell gdm to take over. This part is upstream in plymouth but the gdm part isn't, as it seems. The patch won’t apply to gdm3 as is, since we include a minimal VT manager in GDM while Fedora does not. Bug#531668: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#531668: alsa-driver autoconf script is broken
Hi Ben, thank you very much for your cooperation! * Ben Hutchings [100327 04:06 +] Here is a debdiff for all the required changes in alsa-driver to work with 2.6.32. This adds a call to autoconf at build time and modifies a couple of existing patches accordingly. You should also delete debian/patches/disable_gcc_version_check2.patch. What I don't understand is: Why does the debian package build against a plain, vanilla build? There we have both the same for /lib/modules/$(KVERS)/build and /lib/modules/$(KVERS)/source which are different to the Debian kernels. If I merge source and build from the Debian ones, alsa drivers are build well. If your patch is needed to get alsa drivers build against Debian kernels this is a Debian specific solution. BTW, IIRC the drivers build well till Debain-2.6.26 or so. This is a bit suspicious for me. As well I noticed no bug against upstream version which is similar to ours There is a new bug coming up from 2.6.33. Here we have include/generated which is unknown to make-kpkg modules-image. Bug#575308: Moving /usr/lib/perl/5.10/Config_heavy.pl into perl-base

Bug#575593: debian-installer: partitioner unable to format used swap partition
Package: debian-installer Version: partitioner unable to format used swap partition20100211 Severity: normal Installing on a virtual machine with a previous fresh installation of debian lenny with a uniq partition / (sda1) and a swap (sda5). When running the debian squeeze installer, selecting the same configuration (all in a single partition), the partitioner reports an error while trying to write on sda5. It claims that this partition is in use. A second run of the partitioner didn't say anything and went to the next step. I didn't check much, but it seems that the debian-installer use this partition as its swap space. Solutions would be one of those : . swapoff the used swap partition before writing changes . don't try to format the swap partition if it doesn't change between the two installations I'm not sure about the version number (20100211). Bug#554853: seeing the same results on ubuntu karmic server
Hi all - I'm seeing this same behavior running jetty 6.1.20-2 on an Ubuntu Karmic server I'm using for testing at work. As it's just a testing VPS, I am happy to provide root access to the server if it will help track down the problem. I just need an SSH key and I can let any of the relevant package maintainers in to have a look at what's going on. Just let me know. Thanks!
