In shortcut module it's impossible to setup classic 3-keys combinations like
 Ctrl+Alt+Up, Ctrl+Alt+Down. This module accepts only 1- and 2-keys
 combinations.

Well, personally I'm using Ctrl+Shift+PageUp and Ctrl+Shift+PageDown, so 3-key
combinations are working generally. It seems that just Up and Down keys are
not recognized in the shortcut enter field. Would you still like to have Up
and Down working?

Bug#575575: timidity MIDI playback plays drums that should be musical notes

Package: libsdl-mixer1.2

When using timidity MIDI playback, music played in MIDI channels 10 and

drums, according to the MIDI standard; drums on channel 16 are a

In this case you should disable the start target alltogether in

Well shouldn't this work out if we launch plymouth on the same VT as

Bug#574617: grub-pc: GRUB_DEFAULT=saved not working

2010-03-27 Thread rupi
Hi,

thx. for your information.. seems that save_env on a lvm isn't supported,
though i couldn't find documentation on this.
Some quick testing with save_env, edit_env and the grub-editenv tool all
showed the very same result: saving fails without raising any error.

I suggest adding a warning about this in the documentation and close the
bug.

Upstream bugtracker http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=grub needs an
account to submit bugs.. since the package maintainers probably have one
would you please be so kind to forward this bug upstream - it doesn't
have anything on the matter.

Nice report. Like many bugs, this has two parts. The most interesting
part is the documentation bug.

git-cherry.1 doesn’t really warn about this situation. How about
something like this:

BUGS

If one merges upstream into head (as is often done), then
git-cherry will report all commits between the old fork-point
and head as no longer found in upstream.

   ***_*__ new fork-point = upstream
  / \
old fork-point \
  \__+__+__-__+__+__-__+__*_ head

While these commits are still part of upstream..head, their
upstream counterparts are no longer
in head..upstream.

It would probably also be useful to add an option to make git cherry
take into account the patch-ids of all commits from the upstream branch,
as slow as that would be.

Thoughts?
Jonathan

Package: sirc

Dear Maintainer,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:

* very outdated
* lintian issues
* no maintainer action since 2005
* maintainer completely inactive in Debian?

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.
Also, you can study the possibility of taking co-maintainers.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, send the following commands
to cont...@bugs.debian.org (replace nn with this bug's number):

retitle nn O: packagename -- short package description

If you think it should be removed, send the following commands instead:

Bug#575580: tomcat6-user: tomcat6-instance-create fails when multiple commandline options are provided

2010-03-27 Thread Mark Scott
Package: tomcat6-user
Version: 6.0.24-3
Severity: important

Try to pass both the -p and -c options:

$ tomcat6-instance-create -p 8050 -c 8006 tomcat6
You are about to create a Tomcat instance in directory '-c'
[snip much error output]

Only the first option is parsed correctly and the target directory is always
assigned the value of $3. The problem is in the 'getopts' handling and is
fixed by patching with this diff:

Bastille seems to have nobbled some fairly critical executables on my
machine, amongst them:

/sbin/insmod/
/sbin/modprobe/
/sbin/depmod

These files are needed to boot my machine, but without the executable
bit set they are (obviously) useless and my machine unbootable. I
would thus suggest that the severity of this bug should be escalated.

I am trying to reproduce on S/390 with hercules, but it is very slow.

Can’t reproduce here, unfortunately. Probably something in the buildd
setup (available memory? threads?) triggers it.

Therefore if anyone has a system that can reproduce this failure, I
would be very happy. Simple recipes to try out:

setup:

 curl http://kernel.org/pub/software/scm/git/git-1.7.0.3.tar.bz2 |
 tar -xf -
 cd git*
 echo NO_CURL=1 config.mak
 echo NO_EXPAT=1 config.mak
make; # or make -j20, or whatever is most convenient

run the failing test:

 (cd t sh -x t7400-submodule-basic.sh -v -i)

run all tests:

 make test

I would be happy if some DD could find time to try this out on zelenka [1].
Similarly, results (positive or negative) from any z/Arch user with time to
try it out on a private machine would be welcome.

Regards,
Jonathan

When the computer loses power unexpectedly, or sometimes when gkrellm is
finished abruptly, some the contents of the ~/.gkrellm2/sensor-config file
 are lost.

I always have gkrellm running (it run automatically when I start KDE), and
I don't bother to close it before shutting down the computer. Nearly half
of the times, when the computer starts again, gkrellm is missing some of
the temperature sensors in the sensor list, and I have to add them again.

Bug#574389: gkrellm: Information in sensor-config file is lost after power outage

Hello,
I'm forwarding this bug to the upstream mailing-list, maybe they can help here.

Bug#575431: plymouth: Plymouth seems to hang when console-setup is called during boot

There is nothing wrong in the script. It does what it is supposed to do
- it sets the console. Apparently loading a font on the console is
incompatible with graphical boot screens. Console-setup has some checks
disabling it when splashy or usplash are active and now plymouth is a
third case.

What I am going to do about this is to provide some method that packages
such as plymouth, splashy and usplash can use in order to disable
console-setup.

It is nice that the package informs root that the installed dhcp server
will not be authoritarian, I do not allow fascist daemons on my network.
But this is not what the original message meant.

I'd suggest autoritativo, based on my personal feelings. autorevole

Bug#551638: Updated patch for dselect bugs

2010-03-27 Thread Robert Luberda
Hi,

I discovered that the previous version of my patch re-added the purge
ok not-installed packages into status file. Fortunately the issue
turned out to be quite simple to fix. I'm attaching a new patch split
into two files.

The first one, 1_dselect_559519+556889.patch.gz, causes dselect to treat
all unknown packages all as already seen. This fixes #556889, since
dselect never automatically selects already seen packages for installation.
The change is especially visible at the packages' selection screen: the
non-patched version shows status `n_' (meaning `new purge') for most
packages, for example:
  n_ Xtr x11 choosewm none 0.1.6-1 fake ...
  n_ Xtr x11 compiz-fusio none 0.8.4-1 Compiz Fusion ...
  n_ Xtr x11 compiz-fusio none 0.8.4-2 Compiz Fusion ...
My version displays the status as '__' (`purge purge').
I hope the patch would be quite safe for applying in dselect.

With the second patch, 2_dselect_551638.patch.gz, dselect stores already
seen packages in packages-seen file - one package name in each line. It
would be nice if you could apply this patch too, even though you might
dislike it e.g. because db is certainly not `fronted united', coding
introduces usage of STL maps, strings and iostreams and doesn't look
like the awful `C with classes' used elsewhere in dselect codes.

Regards,
robert

Of course, a response from the maintainer about the situation would be

 intend to continue maintaining it.

Just my two ¢s: I am in favour of giving Exaile into the hands
of Python apps. The current state of the package leaves room for
improvements, means: Even if the package breaks for a moment, it
probably is worth the step. (Meanwhile I switched to Quodlibet.)

 great, thanks.

Or maybe there will be a simpler solution if you look at the following
code in /bin/setupcon and provide the required patch. :)

if \
pidof splashy /dev/null \
|| pidof usplash  /dev/null
then
LOADFONTS=''
fi

I suppose one additional pidof check will be enough.

I don't know how plymmouth is working but if/when it exits and the
console is again in text mode if you want you can make the script of
plymouth to run 'setupcon' (with no arguments) to make sure the console
is configured. Ideally the same should be done in case some errors case
the console to go to text mode.

Notice that if console-setup is not installed then kbd will attempt to
configure the console so the same problem will occur.

 plymouth's init script.

I thought I’d make it provide gdm, but unfortunately insserv chokes when

That's a good question, when I have a little more free time I will try
out the patches and see if the VT switch is a problem.
Well shouldn't this work out if we launch plymouth on the same VT as
gdm3? Upstream has quiet a bunch of new code for this in 0.8.x.
 Cheers,

Launching plymouth directly on vt7 could indeed be a solution, but I
wonder whether X will actually use vt7, or whether it will think it’s
already occupied and launch itself on vt8.

But we will continue to keep the patch in the source package so people can

No, it does. It adds new members to cSetup which changes the ABI.

to make it work with g++-4.4 a small fix is needed

I thought I’d make it provide gdm, but unfortunately insserv chokes when
 you do that.

Fedora has this patch for that:

http://cvs.fedoraproject.org/viewvc/rpms/gdm/F-13/plymouth.patch?revision=1.2view=markup

Plymouth touches a force-display-on-active-vt to tell gdm to take over.
This part is upstream in plymouth but the gdm part isn't, as it seems.
Cheers,

Bug#560393: bugs tracked down

2010-03-27 Thread Chris Butler
package libdate-manip-perl
retitle 560393 Date::Manip fails to handle timezones specified as offsets
correctly
forwarded 560393 https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=54779
thanks

I have finally managed to track down the Date::Manip bug that is causing the
breakage of xmltv-util.

The new version of Date::Manip does not deal with timezones correctly if
they are specified as offsets from GMT. It seems that using a timezone of
+ in the Date_Init call, or in one of the timezone arguments to
Date_ConvTZ, actually tells Date::Manip to use the Europe/London timezone.
It is therefore affected by DST, and translates to +0100 during the DST
period.

The attached script demonstrates the problems.

Bug#575588: bsdmainutils: col -bx no longer cleans typescript files

Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 8.0.8

Since I don't run other releases of Debian I can't say that the col bug only
applies to sid/squeeze. col -bx typescript typescript.tmp in previous
versions had all of the escape codes cleaned out of it. That's not the case
anymore, command runs but fails to change typescript in any noticeable way.
This technique for cleaning typescript files generated by the script utility
was documented in debian-reference package.

Judging from popcon it would seem it's a reasonably popular package

Are you in need of mantainers?

Bug#545383: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the root-system package

2010-03-27 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear maintainer of root-system and Debian translators,

Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the root-system Debian
package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation
update in the BTS.

I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload
for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization
bug as well as all other pending translations.

The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in four
days, so I will proceed with the NMU.

The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail.

The package is currently translated to:
cs da de es eu fi fr gl it ja pt pt_BR ru sv vi

Among these, the following translations are incomplete: da

If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get
ANOTHER mail with the translation to update.

Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations
for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report
against the root-system package so I can incorporate them in the build.

The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Friday, April 02,
2010. If you
are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS.

The POT file is attached to this mail.

If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU
and send him/her all updates I receive.

Otherwise the following will happen (or already has):

Monday, March 22, 2010 : send the first intent to NMU notice to
 the package maintainer.
Saturday, March 27, 2010 : send this notice
Friday, April 02, 2010 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation
updates
Saturday, April 03, 2010 : build the package and upload it to
DELAYED/7-day
send the NMU patch to the BTS
Saturday, April 10, 2010 : NMU uploaded to incoming

Thanks for your efforts and time.

The patch won’t apply to gdm3 as is, since we include a minimal VT

Plus, I find this solution just as ugly as the Ubuntu one.

 great, thanks.

Or maybe there will be a simpler solution if you look at the following
code in /bin/setupcon and provide the required patch. :)

splashy and usplash uses /etc/console-tools/config.d/ for it.

I think it ought to keep using it too.

Bug#531668: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#531668: alsa-driver autoconf script is broken

2010-03-27 Thread Elimar Riesebieter
Hi Ben,

thank you very much for your cooperation!

* Ben Hutchings [100327 04:06 +]
Here is a debdiff for all the required changes in alsa-driver to work
with 2.6.32. This adds a call to autoconf at build time and modifies a
couple of existing patches accordingly. You should also delete
 debian/patches/disable_gcc_version_check2.patch.

What I don't understand is: Why does the debian package build
against a plain, vanilla build? There we have both the same for
/lib/modules/$(KVERS)/build and /lib/modules/$(KVERS)/source which
are different to the Debian kernels. If I merge source and build
from the Debian ones, alsa drivers are build well. If your patch is
needed to get alsa drivers build against Debian kernels this is a
Debian specific solution. BTW, IIRC the drivers build well till
Debain-2.6.26 or so. This is a bit suspicious for me. As well I
noticed no bug against upstream version which is similar to ours

There is a new bug coming up from 2.6.33. Here we have
include/generated which is unknown to make-kpkg modules-image.

Hi,
attached two patches add the new renderers and and themes to the 0.8.0

works but these two should make testing 0.8.0 easier.

Bug#575308: Moving /usr/lib/perl/5.10/Config_heavy.pl into perl-base

2010-03-27 Thread Niko Tyni
Hi debian-boot,

I intend to move /usr/lib/perl/5.10/Config_heavy.pl into perl-base
to fix #575308 (cc'd) without diverging from upstream anymore. The
divergence added earlier for #549170 had an unexpected side effect,
and I'm not willing to risk more breakage due to this.

Please let me know if you find the impact on disk or memory usage
unacceptable.

Bug#575593: debian-installer: partitioner unable to format used swap partition

2010-03-27 Thread dr4Ke
Package: debian-installer
Version: partitioner unable to format used swap partition20100211
Severity: normal

Installing on a virtual machine with a previous fresh installation of debian
lenny
with a uniq partition / (sda1) and a swap (sda5).

When running the debian squeeze installer, selecting the same configuration
(all in a single partition),
the partitioner reports an error while trying to write on sda5. It claims that
this partition is in use.

A second run of the partitioner didn't say anything and went to the next step.

I didn't check much, but it seems that the debian-installer use this partition
as its swap space.

Solutions would be one of those :
. swapoff the used swap partition before writing changes
. don't try to format the swap partition if it doesn't change between the two
installations

I'm not sure about the version number (20100211). I assumed that the testing
installation CD was built with this version.

I'm working on it, but it's really not something easy to do as upstream
is including a lot of things in the source archive (eg. the whole tcl/tk
package, a lot of libraries, etc) and the build process is really messed
up. Also attending university slows a lot the work.

Bug#550817: RFP ...

2010-03-27 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
retitle 550817 RFP: gitolite -- standalone, souped-up version of gitosis
thanks

Hi!

I don't want to be considered to be the blocking bit here so I rather
turn this into an RFP. There are various reasons why I didn't provide a
package yet (even though I invested a fair bit of overall time - but
outlining the reasons doesn't gain anything but people would interpret
it as cheap excuses without understanding the background).

I'm still interested in having this thing packaged and would love to
use it in a packaged way. If anyone likes to pick it up you have my
blessing, I could offer some of my thoughts so far.

 Thanks,
Rhonda

Bug#549463: monotone-viz should not be linked with -custom, violates OCaml packaging policy

2010-03-27 Thread Ludovic Brenta
tags 549463 help
thanks

I'm packaging the new upstream version monotone-viz 1.0.2 from
http://oandrieu.nerim.net/monotone-viz/monotone-viz-1.0.2-nolablgtk.tar.gz

The name of the file suggests that monotone-viz no longer requires
lablgtk but in fact it FTBFS when the package
liblablgtk2-gnome-ocaml-dev is not installed, so I am tempted to believe
the bug is still present in the new upstream version.

I co-maintain monotone-viz because I use it but my focus is Ada
packages, not OCaml :) and I know next to nothing about OCaml nor intend
to learn, so patches or NMUs are very, very welcome.

Because that is what it was tested against.

There we have both the same for
 /lib/modules/$(KVERS)/build and /lib/modules/$(KVERS)/source which
are different to the Debian kernels. If I merge source and build
from the Debian ones, alsa drivers are build well. If your patch is
needed to get alsa drivers build against Debian kernels this is a
 Debian specific solution.

Not it is not.

Use 'make deb-pkg'.

Yes; it seems to fix the problem in question.

I'm a bit ambivalent at getting warnings for things like “aptitude
