None that was the output from kacpimon.

Yes, but to be meaningful the output of kacpimon when pressing volume -/+ or
mute keys is needed.

Could you please also try one of the volume keys or the mute key with
 acpi_listen running?

The volume -/+ or mute key, did not give any output.

So no events seem to be generated. This hardly looks like a problem in any of
the acpi* packages.

Bug#587724: Generated .diff.gz files always have a different checksum

2010-07-01 Thread Ed Schouten
Package:dpkg-dev
Version:1.14.29

The dpkg-source command calls gzip(1) without adding -n to the command
line. This causes .diff.gz files to always have a different checksum,
even though the contents of the diff are identical. This causes a lot of
noise when trying to store these files in version control.

I fixed this locally by adding push @prog, -n; to get_compress_cmdline
in Compressor.pm.

seem to indicate that they just affect the caching behavior, but on my
installation they actually seem to be the (only) way to control how many of a
feed's items are actually displayed at all. I think that what these options
 actually do should be clarified.

Liferea displays all items it has from this feed, and these are
basically the cached items.

What do you expect caching to do other than caching the items for
displaying them?

Bug#587726: syslinux: fails to start memtest86+

2010-07-01 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Package: syslinux
Version: 2:4.00+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Hi Daniel,

out of curiosity I tried out extlinux today, installed it as my bootloader and
must say I was impressed by its straightforwardness. Then I proceeded as
suggested in /usr/share/doc/extlinux/README.Debian and downloaded the syslinux-
themes-debian-squeeze and memtest86+ packages. However, when I try to start
memtets86+ from the boot menu [1], the screen blanks and repeatedly prints new
lines with the string 2000.

Any idea?

Cheers,
Fabian

[1] As an aside question: Will this menu entry even show up if memtest86+ was
not installed? I'd consider this very inconsistent.

Bug#587727: syslinux: please add support for other boot options than local linux kernels to extlinux-update

2010-07-01 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Package: syslinux
Version: 2:4.00+dfsg-1
Severity: minor

Hi again,

I'd like to see support for other boot options than linux kernels in local
/boot in extlinux-upgrade. It seems to me that currently support for at least
memtets86+ can be added by means of a specific syslinux-theme, but I think in
the long term a more generic support is required - think of grub2's /etc/grub.d
mechanism. Automatic detection and addition of images like memtest86, grub-
invaders or maybe even chainloadable boot loaders of foreign OSes (via os-
prober) would be highly appreciated.

Cheers,
Fabian

Bug#505517: Grub2 script for ubuntu and debian users

2010-07-01 Thread Marco Nenciarini

Hi,
after some time searching for a script usable to handle xen in grub2, I
have wrote some code (based on patches from debian bug #505517 [1] and
/etc/grub.d/10_linux) that can be used without modify grub2.

These file are to be installed as /etc/grub.d/09_xen and /etc/xen/grub.conf

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Marco

Bug#587729: otrs2: edit of /etc/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm breaks running OTRS (libapache2-reload-perl related?)

2010-07-01 Thread Ralf Gross
Package: otrs2
Version: 2.4.7-5
Severity: important

Hi,

we are migrating from OTRS 2.2.4-1 (Debian Etch) to OTRS 2.4.7-5 (Lenny + OTRS
from Testing). OTRS is working fine so far, we added our custom settings from
Config.pm to the new System. Imported the mysql DB, ran the migration
scripts...

But we have one major problem: when we edit /etc/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm and save
the file OTRS breaks. Even if we don't change the file content - just open it
and save it. I've to restart apache to get OTRS up again. If a someone opens a
ticket in otrs and was filling out the field on the webpage, all his work would
be wiped by just editing this file.

I get the following error message in my browser:

#

Note: DB access is working fine before saving Config.pm and after restarting
apache.

I could track down the problem to the Apache2::Reload module which is activated
in /etc/apache2/conf.d/otrs2.

If I disable Apache2::Reload I don't get the error after editing Config.pm.

On the old server with OTRS 2.2.4 we didn't have this problem because
libapache2-reload-perl was not installed there.

Is this a problem with the otrs2 package or libapache2-reload-perl? What would
be the downside of disableing Apache2::Reload?

Thanks, Ralf

So I guess that bug #385366 might be fixed. Bug #386989 needs some more
testing with 3D apps.

Bad news. I just ran google earth and shortly after, while doing some

probably the same technique as OSD.

Without PageFlip, this seems to be stable.

This is without any packages from experimental. I will try that some

Is this issue still reproducible with mesa 7.7 or 7.8?

I have a new machine by now, so unfortunately, I can not help you here.

OTRS from Testing). OTRS is working fine so far, we added our custom settings
from Config.pm to the new System. Imported the mysql DB, ran the migration

But we have one major problem: when we edit /etc/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm and
save the file OTRS breaks. Even if we don't change the file content - just
open it and save it. I've to restart apache to get OTRS up again. If a
someone opens a ticket in otrs and was filling out the field on the webpage,
all his work would be wiped by just editing this file.

What happens if you reproduce this issue and after that RESTART your

Bug#587695: [Calendarserver-maintainers] Bug#587695: Bug#587695: python-twisted-calendarserver: Dependency problem with python

2010-07-01 Thread Rahul Amaram

Dear Sander,
I have built the python-twisted-calendarserver and calendarserver
packages. You can download the source and compile from

http://repos.synovel.com/packages/debian/twisted-calendarserver_8.2.0.svn27622-1~synovel2+scs1/

http://repos.synovel.com/packages/debian/calendarserver_2.4.dfsg-1~synovel1+scs1/

Let me know if you face any issues. I would be happy to look into it.

Also I am working on building a deb for Calendarserver 3.0.

Guido, were there any issues in pushing the sources I have compiled to
sid? If so, kindly let me know.

I am not an official Debian maintainer and so not completely aware of
the procedure of pushing packages to Sid. Nevertheless, I shall be glad
to help in fixing the bugs which prevent calendarserver 2.4 from getting
into Sid.

Also I have been using calendarserver 2.4 (backported to debian lenny)
in a production environment for quite sometime and it seems to be
working fine.

Regards,
Rahul.

I have tried updating this package, but it does not work. This package depends on
python= 2.5 and 2.6, but in Squeeze the python package is already 2.6. Why
does this package depend on python and not on python2.5 so that it can be installed
normally?

Sadly calendarserver ist orphaned and twisted-calendarserver is up for
adoption. If you want to work on it please see git.debian.org for the
sources and join the calendarserver team on alioth.

If you consider that this is not a bug in mailutils then please let me

It seems that the problem lies in ml_readline_internal.

We build vfs module that plugs into the samba package. It would be
useful for us if the samba package also built a development package.
The Samba 3 APIs don't have any API/ABI guarantees, probably also
because there is no distinction of public and private APIs. This means
it wouldn't really be possible to have a proper samba-dev package, but
only really one package per version.

I spoke to the devs on IRC about this and they reproduced it w/ iceweasel and
firefox. They tracked it down to webkit and noted that the latest webkit (I
think the one still in subversion at the moment) seems to fix it.

The one on IRC was likely me.

WebKitGTK+ 1.3.1 is the version where this bug is fixed, and since the

As I said, the patch applied it's not working as expected.

So, it was not a cache of pyc problem :-(

 With both
versions of python (2.6.5 and 2.5.5) I'm getting the error again:

   abort: authorization failed

It means that it is even worst with the patch as even python 2.5.5 is
broken.

The only way I found to get back mercurial working it's to delete the
patch and go back to python.2.5 on the shebang.

Can you try these packages (download them and install them with
dpkg -i *.deb) ?

It is a quick and dirty packaging of the last upstream 'stable' branch.
We will see if upstream already has a patch for this bug or not.

Hi,

the following change has been introduced for the 0.8.1-1 upload:

   * Change order of the toolame/mp3lame build dependency
 (Closes: #482509, #534076)

However, as already stated in the bug report, both toolame and twolame
are command line encoders that do not add any functionality to idjc,
especially not in their current role as build-depends. So this change
is rather pointless.

Please change the build-depends from twolame | libmp3lame-dev to
libtwolame-dev and apply the patch provided by peter green so that
we can at least have MP2 encoding in Debian. Users who aim to rebuild
idjc against libmp3lame in order to get MP3 support should be warned
to disable this patch before, though.

Some frei0r filters, based on opencv, require classifier data files which are
not present in libcv, but in libcv-dev.

For instance, trying to launch a pipeline involving frei0r-filter-water without
installing libcv-dev will abort with:
ERROR: Could not load classifier cascade
/usr/share/opencv/haarcascades/haarcascade_frontalface_alt2.xml

Solution: add libcv-dev as a Depends:, or at least as a Recommends:

Bug#586521: Including krb5-config in heimdal-multidev

Have you done anything for this?

The immediate issue as I see it is that contents of the file would
have to be different - if heimdal-dev is not installed, then the
include directory is /usr/include/heimdal not /usr/heimdal and the lib
directory is /usr/lib/heimdal instead of /usr/lib.
No, I haven't had the time to work on this yet.

It would indeed require patching krb5-config (perhaps this can be
upstreamed?) to use different directories, but that shouldn't be too
problematic I think.

Bug#587738: clamav: clamscan crashes on 32 bit PowerPC

2010-07-01 Thread Pete Donnell
Package: clamav
Version: 0.96.1+dfsg-1~volatile1
Severity: normal

I think this is related to bug #579960, which is a problem with clamd on the
same architecture. When clamd
stopped working I temporarily switched to clamscan as a workaround, which
seemed to work fine. However,
between 09:48 and 14:52 (GMT) on 2010/06/29 clamscan also stopped working.
Here's a sample error message:

u...@host:~$ clamscan testfile
clamscan: llvm/lib/Target/PowerPC/PPCJITInfo.cpp:399: virtual void
llvm::PPCJITInfo::relocate(void*,
llvm::MachineRelocation*, unsigned int, unsigned char*): Assertion `ResultPtr
= -(1 23) ResultPtr
(1 23) Relocation out of range!' failed.
Aborted

testfile is just a simple text file I used to test, it seems to happen on
everything though. Apologies
for reporting this if it's not news, as I understood it the only problem before
was in clamd though, I
guess this further problem must have been triggered by a freshclam update.

If you would like me to provide further information please let me know.
Pete

Hello.

For me the override_dh_command target are not working any more. Not running
automatically the package's test suites with:

as described in the manpage did not work. Only putting:

export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS+=nocheck

in debian/rules worrks. But overriding dh_auto_configure or dh_install is not
possible.

Is there a way to reproduce the problem without using OTRS?

As far as I can see the Config stuff is far from trivial and there may

 - add considerably to the build time of a
 - prgnlibtool/prgn-using package if that shell script
 - has to derive all this information from first principles
 - for each library every time it is linked. With the
 - advent of prgnlibtool/prgn version 1.4 (and to a
 - lesser extent prgnlibtool/prgn version 1.3), the
 - file.la/file files also store information about

 - derived after the file.la/file file is deleted.
+ Packages that use prgnlibtool/prgn to create and install

+ metadata (ending in file.la/file) alongside the library.
+ For public libraries intended for use by other packages, these
+ files normally should not be included in the Debian package,

+ These files store, among other things, all libraries on which

+ even if this is unnecessary. This can create unneeded
+ dependencies on shared library packages that would otherwise
+ be hidden behind the library ABI, and can make library
+ transitions to new SONAMEs unnecessarily complicated and
 + difficult to manage.
 /footnote
+ If the file.la/file file is required for that library (if,
+ for instance, it's loaded via ttlibltdl/tt in a way that
 + requires that meta-information), the ttdependency_libs/tt
+ setting in the file.la/file file should normally be set to
+ the empty string. If the shared library development package has
+ historically included the file.la/file, it must be retained
+ in the development package (with ttdependency_libs/tt
+ emptied) until all libraries that depend on it have removed or

Bug#587740: openoffice.org-calc: cannot open any XLSX file

2010-07-01 Thread Paweł Pałucha

Subject: openoffice.org-calc: cannot open any XLSX file
Package: openoffice.org-calc
Version: 1:3.2.1-4
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Debian OO cannot open any XLSX (Ms Excel 2007) file. When calling
'oocalc Book1.xlsx' splashscreen starts, then it disappers and leaves in
background process::

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin -calc Book1.xlsx -splash-pipe=5

Strace shows process hangs on some select().

When trying to open file from menu in running oocalc, it does not load
(document stays empty) and toolbars and most of the menu is grayed-out
(as if no document is loaded), window title says Untitled. No error
messages are printed.

I was not able to open any XLSX document, very simple example is
attached.

All XLSX documents can be open without problem in OpenOffice 3.2.1
versions downloaded from openoffice.org - both Windows and Linux (DEB)
versions.

This problem occured at least in some Debian 3.2.X version of OpenOffice and
after few package upgrades is still present.

Bug#587741: dash: shell functions seem to make per-command variable assignments permanent

2010-07-01 Thread Michael Deegan
Package: dash
Version: 0.5.4-12
Severity: normal

Hopefully the following will illustrate some unexpected behaviour I
discovered:

   mich...@cnspc18:~$ dash -c 'noop(){ true;}; x=1; noop; x=broken true; echo
x is now $x'
   x is now 1
   mich...@cnspc18:~$ dash -c 'noop(){ true;}; x=1; noop; x=broken noop; echo
x is now $x'
   x is now broken

My understanding is that 'x=broken noop' shouldn't make the change to x
permanent. It shouldn't make a different whether the command is a normal
executable versus a shell function, right? o_O

Bug#586554: update-initramfs fails to generate initrd.img-2.6.32-5-686 in Debian testing when upgrading from 0.96 to 0.97

Thanks to all for your help tracking this down. I've found the problem.
It was indeed related to the fact that the new version of initramfs-tools
runs the hook scripts under errexit.

If the very last file that iscan's hook script checks for in DESTDIR
doesn't exist, the `test -e` call fails and the script ends with a failed
status even though nothing really went wrong. A simple `exit 0` on the
 last line fixes this.

I'll try to get a fixed version of iscan-data out as soon as I can.

Great, thanks for reporting back.

I'll make sure users know which script fails so we can track and
debug such issues easier.

Bug#587743: gnucash: segfault on open

2010-07-01 Thread Roland Koebler
Package: gnucash
Version: 2.2.6-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Gnucash segfaults when opening an account-page:
- start gnucash
- open a gnucash-file or create a new one
- try to open an account
(e.g. click on Expenses, then double-click on Adjustment)
= Segmentation fault

*Maybe* this has something to do with newer gtk/gnome-libraries or other
libraries glade depends on, since I had to update glade and the libraries
(from lenny to testing) because glade has a serious bug in lenny, which
made it unusable for me.

What does that have to do with 587718? The bug is about not being
installable. The bug was solved by removing the dependencies on musixlyr and
musixtex-slurps? So that is fixed, it is installable (I have it installed

The dependency on musixtex lacks the epoch.

That is a differnet bug, cloned, retitled, severity adjusted

How about the libguestfs package depends on each of the packages used
inside the vm/appliance, then builds the vm on first install and updates
the vm via file triggers whenever the packages outside the vm change?
This means it doesn't need to access the network at build time or at
install time and also gives free updates of the vm. This is kinda
similar to how the initramfs is built on Debian.

Could do this, but building the appliance from debs is quite slow
(3-10 minutes), and really once you've built it you should test it
(1-2 hours). When we build the Fedora package, we do all this work
once on the builders, and can then be fairly certain that what we're
about to ship to end users will actually work.

What's the problem with running debirf on the Debian builders anyway?
It shouldn't need any special permissions or network access.

Rich.

Well, the dep (= 1:1.1.4) is declared by the zlib1g package itself,
i.e. we just build using the zlib1g-dev package and the dep is
created by itself. We could introduce a conflict against a to new
zlib1g or we could loosen the dep in the source code of luatex itself
(a similar thing was done before).

The dep declared by the zlib1g package works only if its reverse
dependencies don't second guess it like luatex does. What is the reason
for having this check in the first place? Why can't it be dropped
instead of relaxed? Libraries in Debian have ABI guarantees, we don't
break ABI without changing the package name.

2010-07-01 Thread Jakub Wilk

* Thomas Goirand z...@debian.org, 2010-07-01, 15:28:

reassign 587575 yum,urlgrabber

Hi,

What's that, and how could I fix?

(Sorry, I should have Cc-ed you when reassigning.)
Apparently urlgrabber 3.9.1 broke yum badly, I'm not sure which package
is at fault here. See http://bugs.debian.org/587575#5 for traceback.

Do you think that upgrading to the latest version of yum (which, the
last time I saw, is 3.2.26) would fix the issue? Is Fedora 13 running
python 2.6? And what version of yum?

No idea here, sorry.

Bug#587735: curl and pycurl is not compiled with sftp support (ubuntu bug 311029)

A patch has been submitted to ubuntu bug repository to enable building with
ssh support for curl.  Ubuntu bug team has requested opening bug with Debian
bug tracker.  Please take a look at the patch and apply if possible.

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curl/+bug/311029

Hi,

On the latest unstable packages (7.21.0-1), I see that sftp is enabled.

$ curl --version
curl 7.21.0 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.21.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8o
zlib/1.2.3.4 libidn/1.18 libssh2/1.2.5
Protocols: dict file ftp ftps http https imap imaps ldap ldaps pop3
pop3s rtsp scp sftp smtp smtps telnet tftp
Features: GSS-Negotiate IDN IPv6 Largefile NTLM SSL libz

curl as such depends on libcurl3. The patch attached modifies the
gnutls version of the build.

Am I missing something?

It looks like the Ubuntu packages are for 7.18.x versions. I am not
sure about the state of those packages. Could you please try to get
the 7.21.0 packages from debian into Ubuntu and test it out?

Thanks
Ramakrishnan

Bug#587748: initscripts: Dependency on 'find' under '/usr/'.

2010-07-01 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.88dsf-10
Severity: serious

The script /etc/init.d/urandom uses a path

   PATH=/sbin:/bin

yet it uses '$(find ...)' on line 36. Thus
the path must also contain '/usr/bin'.
In consequence the boot dependencies should
need a correction.

This was discovered using GNU/kfreebsd.

I had a look at the packaging and I noticed that some files come

./lib/common/MacOSXPrecomp.h: *No copyright* UNKNOWN

Would you mind to check with upstream please?

Besides, have you considered using synergy-plus sources as new sources
for the synergy package? Synergy seems dead upstream anyway and its
last upload in Debian dates back to more than one year. So, maybe its
current maintainer is no longer interested and you could take over the
package and use the new sources.

I'm CC'ing the current synergy maintainer to have some input and know
his opinion on the subject.

Bug#587520: xz memory usage (Was: Bug#587520 closed)

2010-07-01 Thread Ariel

I noticed you set the compression options for xz to -9. I'm not sure this
is a good idea, with -9 xz will use 674MB of memory - even for files that
are smaller than that (a 100MB file used 674MB, and a 3.3MB file used
139MB, but it probably varies depending on content).

I think you should not set any number, and let xz decide on the default
(which is currently -6, which has a max of 94MB).

Is it realistic to take another option (1-9) to pass to the compressor if
people want to change it?

BTW thanks for implementing this so fast!

-Ariel

Bug#587751: new intermediate cert from Thawte

2010-07-01 Thread Christian Storch
Package: ca-certificates
Version: 20080809
Severity: wishlist

Since a couple of days Thawte is signing 2048 bit web certs with the
intermediate cert
'Thawte SSL CA' which is signed in turn by the already known 'Thawte Primary
Root CA'.
So using a new server cert from Thawte with apache needs sending the complete
chain for
browsers not knowing the new CA cert.
It would be fine if this cert could be included into ca-certificates to enable
a
straightforward apache config with 'SSLCACertificatePath':

https://search.thawte.com/support/ssl-digital-certificates/index?page=contentactp=CROSSLINKid=SO13881

(- SSL Web Server and Wildcard SSL Intermediate CA)

Of course I know about #299017. But the url above didn't contain any copyright
AFAICS.

Thanks,

Bug#587684: recoll: use unuconv for MS Word documents

2010-07-01 Thread Jean-Francois Dockes
Celejar writes:
Recoll currently uses antiword and catdoc for MS Word documents. Antiword
claims to only support Word 2003 (according to the website) or lower, and
catdoc only to Word 97 (according to the Debian package info). Unoconv
  claims
to be able to support any documents that OO.org supports, so it should cover
modern Word formats not covered by the current utilities.

As far as I know, modern word formats, which I take to be Open Xml, are
covered by a native filter (rclopxml), based on xsltproc.

If there are specific issues and problem documents, it would be nice to
please provide a sample. Testing on Open Xml documents has indeed been
very minimal, so I would not be very surprised if there are issues.

Cheers,

“my @buf_header = $curbuf-Get(1 .. 3);” works fine. Were you expecting

It's openbox's builtin dock, mostly wmaker compatible I think.

well, afaik, there is no builtin dock in openbox!

No, really there is a default dock in plain openbox. Just launch any
wmaker applet and you'll see them appear docked together.

you're probably running tint2 or awn.
can you please describe your installation, ie if you used a Debian
derivative or some kind of script.

Just plain debian/sid.

ultimately, the following files might help:
 /etc/xdg/openbox/autostart.sh
 ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh

finally, what do you mean by mostly wmaker compatible?
are you running old school wm apps and which ones?

I just meant that wm* applets that work in openbox support a withdrawn
mode.
