Bug#616156: vlc: VLC bookmark buffer overflow

2011-05-29 Thread Henri Salo
I don't see this one as closed. Messages got to the list in wrong order:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=616156#19
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=616156#24

PoC still crashes VLC/X-environment for me. I can't open new windows and I
can't close some windows at all. Even kill -9 did not do anything. Could
someone verify this?

PoC-file: http://www.zeroscience.mk/codes/aimp2_evil.mp3

Best regards,
Henri Salo

Bug#628458: Please add /opt to base-files

2011-05-29 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: base-files
Version: 6.4
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Eddy Petrișor wrote[1]:

I've just found this bug and I must say is a real pain for vendors
which package stuff which installs in /opt.

I also found an easy way to reproduce the bug. See the bottom of this
 message for details.

As a test one of the guys at work made /opt a symlink and we observed
that, although other directories were present in /opt, after the
 removal of any of the
packages that has files in /opt, the symlink is gone somewhere right
 after or during prerm.

I would only expect that to happen when the last package owning /opt
is removed. But that much sounds believable, which makes this sound
like a good reason to add /opt to base-files. Santiago, what do you
think?

Bug#628459: migemo: fails if /usr/bin/ruby points to /usr/bin/ruby1.9.x

2011-05-29 Thread Tatsuya Kinoshita
Package: migemo
Version: 0.40-10
Severity: important

/usr/bin/migemo uses /usr/bin/ruby, which is now handle with the
alternavies system. By default, ruby points to /usr/bin/ruby1.8,
that's ok for migemo. However, if ruby points to /usr/bin/ruby1.9.1,
migemo causes LoadError.

| $ migemo
| /usr/bin/migemo:13: warning: variable $KCODE is no longer effective; ignored
| internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require:29:in `require': no such file to load
-- migemo (LoadError)
| from internal:lib/rubygems/custom_require:29:in `require'
| from /usr/bin/migemo:15:in `main'

The migemo package places the library files in /usr/lib/ruby/1.8.
Also, /usr/bin/migemo seems to use ruby1.8 features such as $KCODE.

Probably, using ruby1.8 instead of ruby fixes this bug.

Thanks,

Sure, it looks like that will work. From the perspective of OpenAFS and
other AFS implementations, it is a little annoying to have to make a
special case for Hurd for the ioctl number if and when Hurd support is
added... but I'd expect a lot of things to require Hurd special-cases,
anyway.

Will this be sent to Heimdal upstream, btw? This probably would have
gotten noticed sooner if this had been sent there, and I don't know if
they have opinions on this.

Bug#625524: When is source not source?

2011-05-29 Thread Jeremy Malcolm
Firstly, what do you mean no source? These are source. Yes
jquery-1.2.6.min.js is a compressed version, but jquery.js which is the
uncompressed (source) version of it is also provided.

Second, the files in jsb/upload are used to upload the bot to Google App
Engine. These files don't run on Debian, so removing them from the distro and
using the libjs-jquery won't work. The files need to be there so the
jsb-release program can generate a proper directory for uploading all the stuff
that is needed for GAE.

I'm proposing to close this bug unless you can explain why you think there is
still a problem.

There are currently three different driver versions you should test: in

Check your /var/log/Xorg.*.log, too.

Is the problem you reported the same as in

Bug#628460: TEA: is easily confused by nearby tcl source trees

2011-05-29 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Source: tile
Version: 0.8.2-2.1
Severity: important
Justification: potential ftbfs
Tags: upstream

Reproduction recipe:

apt-get -b source tcl-8.4
apt-get -b source tile

Expected result:

successful build.

Actual result:

In file included from ./generic/tkstate.c:12:0:
/usr/include/tcl8.6/tk-private/generic/tk.h:23:3: error: #error Tk 8.6
must be compiled with tcl.h from Tcl 8.6 or better

Workaround:

mkdir -p away
mv tcl8.4-* away/
apt-get -b source tile

Explanation: TEA_PATH_TCLCONFIG aggressively searches nearby directories
like ../../../tcl8.4-8.4.19 for unix/tclConfig.sh in searching for tcl
headers. IMHO this is insane --- unless the user specifically requests
otherwise, the systemwide installation is the right one to use.

Thoughts on a fix: If this were fixed in tcl8.6-dev, packages that use
TEA could get the fix automatically with an autoreconf.

Bug#603589: ETA for inclusion of updated German translation?

Hello,
this simple to fix l10n bug (just drop the file in the appropriate
directory) has not even been acknowledged, although it has been
reported 190 days ago. This is quite unsatisfying for our German
speaking users, especially since an inclusion request for Squeeze was
also part of the report where a response would have been rather
helpful (even if it was a NACK).

Is there anything blocking from uploading with the updated
translation?

Thanks!

Bug#628462: linux-2.6: reports impossible swap statistics for a process

2011-05-29 Thread Jonathan Nieder
reassign 628462 procps
quit

Hi,

Lionel Elie Mamane wrote:

I'm not sure if the bug is in top or in linux. top reports that galeon
(my web browser) uses 195GB of swap; that's far more swap than I have,
 so not possible.

The only out of the ordinary thing I remember doing is hibernating and
 resuming several times.

I attach just about every info from /proc/${PID}/ which I thought
 might be useful.

The attachment seems to be missing. Anyway, reassigning to top; once
this is rephrased as such-and-such item under /proc should say X, but
it says Y, please feel free to assign it back to the kernel again.

Thanks, and happy hacking.

Bug#628465: debianutils: Errors in new man page ischroot

2011-05-29 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: debianutils
Version: 4
Severity: normal

While updating the German man page translation for debianutils, the
following problems where noticed:

1) Grammar, spelling and contradiction to 2):
-if the detection is not possible (On GNU/Linux in happens if the script is
-not run as root).

+if the detection is not possible (on GNU/Linux it happens if the script is
+run as root).

2) Contradiction to 1):
On GNU/Linux, chroot detection is not possible as root. This works correctly
on GNU/Hurd and GNU/kFreeBSD.

You clearly state in 2) that on GNU/Linux detection is not possible as
root. While I clearly expected the opposite 1) states the opposite. So
either 2) is wrong or (as indicated in my patch) 1) is wrong.

Agreed. Just rebuilding Heimdal with the new patch now.

  - do the semi-ugly solution an define VIOC_SYSCALL_PROC differently on

can and cannot be done in ioctl's on Hurd). I attached a new version of
  patch 043_hurd_ioctl.

Sure, it looks like that will work. From the perspective of OpenAFS and
other AFS implementations, it is a little annoying to have to make a
special case for Hurd for the ioctl number if and when Hurd support is
added... but I'd expect a lot of things to require Hurd special-cases,
 anyway.

For references, there is also the following bug that discusses AFS with
Heimdal:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=324342

and this even older bug report for The Hurd support:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=113317

Will this be sent to Heimdal upstream, btw? This probably would have
gotten noticed sooner if this had been sent there, and I don't know if
 they have opinions on this.

Do you think The Hurd patches are of sufficient quality to be submitted
upstream?

Bug#599769: the xorg server consumes ram without freeing it whilst using a 3d, application

2011-05-29 Thread macarthur
I'm unable to try the ones since 270.* and later, since I'm unable to
attempt to use 3d. Whenever I do, my graphics cards temperature
increases rapidly to over 80*C and doesn't stop until 100*C within a
minute or so of use. And since I don't want to risk further harm to the
system, I'll be unable to attempt to use the latest ones. Once I have a
computer with an nvidia card again, I'll resume testing. But until then,
this bug will have to stay as it currently is(which i imagine is
unconfirmed) or whatever it is. I hope to have a new one within the

Bug#617219: DNS-323 tests

2011-05-29 Thread Martin Michlmayr
Hi Manuel,

Did you have a chance to perform these tests?

* Martin Michlmayr t...@cyrius.com [2011-05-05 20:35]:
Regarding the DNS-323 firmware issue we discussed a few months ago
(that revision changed from 3 to 4): Manuel Roeder agreed to do some
 tests on his B1 DNS-323.

 * Manuel Roeder manuel_roe...@gmx.de [2011-05-05 12:46]:
Testing is no Problem, I even got a serial Port to check what went wrong.
Please send the images and/or link and I will give it a try.

Just to summarize the problem again: Debian (or rather,
dns323-firmware-tools) currently uses a revision 3 in the image.
However, the firmware on C1 DNS-323 machines uses a revision 4 and
rejects images with a revision of 3. The question is whether revision
4 images are accepted by the current and old DNS-323 firmware images
on A1 and B1 machines (testing one is enough since they use the same
firmware). If so, we can move our image to revision 4 and it will
 work on all DNS-323 devices.

Dominic Evans found the following revisions to be used in the DNS-323
 firmware:

 dns323_firmware_103: 00
 dns323_firmware_104: 01
 dns323_firmware_105: 03
 dns323_firmware_106: 04
 dns323_firmware_107: 04
 dns323_firmware_108: 04
 dns323_firmware_109: 04

So imho it would be good to test version 1.03, 1.04, 1.05 and 1.08
(1.09 is apparently not available for B1 devices). Manuel, can you
 download 1.03, 1.04, 1.05 and 1.08 from
 http://www.dlink.co.uk/cs/Satellite?c=Product_Cchildpagename=DLinkEurope-GB/DLTechProductcid=1197319419183p=1197318962293packedargs=QuickLinksParentID%3D1197319419183%26locale%3D1195806691854%26packedargs%3Df9ffeaf4e83ab6d0166b8cc93b23ebbc3d83540f46ceb58f26706558f9479c4ec3df1411a95e2d40b8161bf516969212f4b253493c501653965d4b39148b4c34pagename=DLinkEurope-GB/DLWrapper
and then check if it's possible to upgrade to this firmware image:

 http://people.debian.org/~tbm/tmp/dns-323/netboot.img
(This is a Debian installer image with revision 4)

In other words, install the 1.03 DNS-323 firmware and try to upgrade
to the Debian installer image mentioned above. Then try the same with
 1.04, etc.

For my own curiosity, it would also be interesting to see if the
revision 3 firmware of the installer is accepted by 1.08:

 http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-armel/current/images/orion5x/network-console/d-link/dns-323/netboot.img

According to Dominic's, 1.08 uses rev 4 and should therefore reject
the Debian installer image but nobody has reported this problem yet
(therefore, I'm curious whether this is really the case or not).

In all cases, you just need to check if the DNS-323 firmware accepts
the Debian image. You don't actually need to run Debian installer.
Also, maybe it's a good idea to temporarily remove your hard drive so
the DNS-323 firmware won't destroy your existing Debian installation.

 Thanks for your help.

But I _did_ specify a source package, namely linux-2.6.

I noticed that reportbug linux-2.6 said no such binary OR SOURCE

problem. Which means that really the problem is that the error message
is just plain wrong/confusing. It should says something like no such

Bug#620355: 0.8.1-6 works

2011-05-29 Thread Thiemo Nagel

Dear Michael,

I have downgraded to 0.8.1-6 (I had to built the package from the git
tag.) and was running without a single crash for 16 days, whereas with
0.8.1-6+squeeze1 I was seeing crashes approximately every other day.

So I'd say that it is safe to conclude that the problem in question
indeed is a regression.

Right now I'm upgrading to 0.8.4.0-1 and will let you know the results
of that as soon as I have any.

Cheers,
Thiemo

After upgrading to KDE 4.6 pinentry-qt4 uses Windows style if Qt4 style is set

Plastique or other Qt-only themes.
I can reproduce it with echo foo|gpg --clearsign but not with GETPIN pinentry

Bug#617219: DNS-323 tests

2011-05-29 Thread Manuel Roeder
Not recently, because I had much work to do the last weeks, sorry!
I now have holidays for two weeks and as I am at home I will have enough
time to do all tests.

I am currently writting to John Stultz because the rtc-m41t80 driver and
he already sent me a patch but that did not
change a lot so the driver problems still exists in 2.6.39 (starting
with 2.6.38) for DNS323.

Am 29.05.2011 10:17, schrieb Martin Michlmayr:
 Hi Manuel,

Did you have a chance to perform these tests?

 * Martin Michlmayr t...@cyrius.com [2011-05-05 20:35]:
Regarding the DNS-323 firmware issue we discussed a few months ago
(that revision changed from 3 to 4): Manuel Roeder agreed to do some
 tests on his B1 DNS-323.

 * Manuel Roeder manuel_roe...@gmx.de [2011-05-05 12:46]:
Testing is no Problem, I even got a serial Port to check what went wrong.
Please send the images and/or link and I will give it a try.
Just to summarize the problem again: Debian (or rather,
dns323-firmware-tools) currently uses a revision 3 in the image.
However, the firmware on C1 DNS-323 machines uses a revision 4 and
rejects images with a revision of 3. The question is whether revision
4 images are accepted by the current and old DNS-323 firmware images
on A1 and B1 machines (testing one is enough since they use the same
firmware). If so, we can move our image to revision 4 and it will
 work on all DNS-323 devices.

Dominic Evans found the following revisions to be used in the DNS-323
 firmware:

 dns323_firmware_103: 00
 dns323_firmware_104: 01
 dns323_firmware_105: 03
 dns323_firmware_106: 04
 dns323_firmware_107: 04
 dns323_firmware_108: 04
 dns323_firmware_109: 04

So imho it would be good to test version 1.03, 1.04, 1.05 and 1.08
(1.09 is apparently not available for B1 devices). Manuel, can you
 download 1.03, 1.04, 1.05 and 1.08 from
 http://www.dlink.co.uk/cs/Satellite?c=Product_Cchildpagename=DLinkEurope-GB/DLTechProductcid=1197319419183p=1197318962293packedargs=QuickLinksParentID%3D1197319419183%26locale%3D1195806691854%26packedargs%3Df9ffeaf4e83ab6d0166b8cc93b23ebbc3d83540f46ceb58f26706558f9479c4ec3df1411a95e2d40b8161bf516969212f4b253493c501653965d4b39148b4c34pagename=DLinkEurope-GB/DLWrapper
and then check if it's possible to upgrade to this firmware image:

 http://people.debian.org/~tbm/tmp/dns-323/netboot.img
(This is a Debian installer image with revision 4)

In other words, install the 1.03 DNS-323 firmware and try to upgrade
to the Debian installer image mentioned above. Then try the same with
 1.04, etc.

For my own curiosity, it would also be interesting to see if the
revision 3 firmware of the installer is accepted by 1.08:

 http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-armel/current/images/orion5x/network-console/d-link/dns-323/netboot.img

According to Dominic's, 1.08 uses rev 4 and should therefore reject
the Debian installer image but nobody has reported this problem yet
(therefore, I'm curious whether this is really the case or not).

In all cases, you just need to check if the DNS-323 firmware accepts
the Debian image. You don't actually need to run Debian installer.
Also, maybe it's a good idea to temporarily remove your hard drive so
the DNS-323 firmware won't destroy your existing Debian installation.

 Thanks for your help.

Bug#593934: smstools: missing documentation

Ping :) I was looking for the examples scripts, found this bug and just
rebuilding the 3.1.14 package in sid with debuild, without applying
Jakub's patch, added the missing files to the i386 package.

Yes. That's because the documentation is only installed if you are
building both architecture-dependent and architecture-independent binary
packages.

Bug#577725: python3-docutils

also sprach Jakub Wilk jw...@debian.org [2011.05.28.2013 +0200]:
 docutils-doc:
 - ships documentation
 - recommends python-docutils | python3-docutils

Why the recommendation?

Dear co-maintainers, what do you think? Does it sound sensible?

Yes, it does. Thanks!

 - python-docutils | python3-docutils is a bit cumbersome to type,
maybe both packages could provide a common virtual package (say:
 docutils)?

Do they have the same API? Are they interchangeable?

 - What about existing virtual packages? python-docutils currently
 provides docutils-writer-manpage, docutils-writer-odt,
python-odtwriter, rst2man, rst2odt. The odt ones are unused, there
are 3 reverse build-dependencies for man ones. I'm a bit tempted
to drop all of them entirely.

+1

Bug#628437: Display freezes after ksplash screen is finished

2011-05-29 Thread Andreas Feldner
Package: nvidia-glx
Version: 270.41.06-1
Followup-For: Bug #628437

Hi Andreas,

actually I had to reportbug nvidia-glx, then select the previous report, to get
reportbug into collecting the additional information.

In /var/log/Xorg.0.log, there is no relevant (EE) or (WW):

[ 12794.078] (WW) Hotplugging is on, devices using drivers 'kbd', 'mouse' or
'vmmouse' will be disabled.
[ 12794.079] (WW) Disabling Cherry Keyboard
[ 12794.079] (WW) Disabling Configured Mouse
[ 12794.846] (WW) NVIDIA(0): Option RandRReflection is not used
[ 12795.082] (EE) HID 046a:0023: failed to initialize for relative axes.

This problem seems to be the other way round than 611452: the text consoles are
working, but the X console is not. I forgot to mention: the X screen is black,
however, there is a working mouse pointer on it!

Best regards,
Andreas.

Bug#628458: Please add /opt to base-files

Santiago, what do you
think?

Hmm, do you mean the change made in 2.2.14 is not enough?

/opt is created by default on every new install since Debian 3.0.

It is not part of the package itself to give users the freedom to remove
it if they wish and not see it recreated at every base-files upgrade, as
no part of Debian needs it.

If you remove it but you still need it, why do you blame base-files?

I don't see why this is reported as a bug against base-files.

Bug#628471: proftpd fails to enable passive mode if SQLShowInfo directive is used

2011-05-29 Thread Francis Brosnan Blázquez
Package: proftpd-basic
Version: 1.3.3a-6squeeze1

Having a working proftpd configuration tested on lenny machines, it
seems there are some interaction with SQLShowInfo instruction causing
proftpd to fail to enable passive mode.

The way to reproduce the problem is to enable passive connection from a
client on localhost (to discard firewall problems).

 ftp localhost
(after introducing user and password)

ftp passive on
Passive mode on.

ftp ls
200 Type set to A
Passive mode address scan failure.Shouldn't happen!

After googling it seems there are other proftpd users that found the
same issue [1].

In our case, to solve the issue just comment declaration (SQLShowInfo)
inside proftpd.conf:

 # SQLShowInfo PASS 230 You've logged on %{getcount} times, %u

After restarting proftpd everything works fine.

It looks like the chown is tried while the NSS files have not yet been
 copied over.

Yes, this was due to the Chroot class calling ChrootSetup::basesetup()
when the session is created to do the apt update/upgrade. basesetup()
depended upon the sbuild user and group existing in the chroot to
chown various bits.

I've updated sbuild-createchroot to explicitly copy the sbuild user and
group into the chroot so that this can't fail.

I don't think that this should be done until ccache has acceptable

I decided to handle it another way. Starting with 2.1.0, Cupt does not

This effectively turns this bug into wishlist one. Consequently, API

I do object to telling maintainers they must not delete system users,
without also giving guidance on how and when to lock the accounts.

 Yes, I agree with this.

Sorry, no time at the moment to propose verbiage to reconcile this with your
  concerns.

I think the right thing to do would be to have deluser lock (rather
than delete) system users when invoked in the way currently used by
maintainer scripts. Provided that doesn't make interactive use of
 deluser break somehow.

I've been looking at how this might be accomplished right now, and
have these observations to make. (These are WRT my addition and
removal of the sbuild user in the sbuild package.)

1) Locking on removal.

This is as simple as doing (in postrm)

# Lock sbuild account.
usermod -U -e 1 sbuild

However, one does now need to consider how unlocking will occur
if the package is reinstalled, which I don't think has been covered
as yet:

2) Reinstallation.

I'm currently using this logic (in postinst)

 # Create dedicated sbuild user
if ! getent passwd sbuild /dev/null; then
 adduser --system --quiet --home /var/lib/sbuild --no-create-home \
--shell /bin/bash --ingroup sbuild --gecos Debian source builder
sbuild
 fi

However, consider that if the account is locked, the user already
exists and no unlocking will occur, leaving the reinstalled
package broken. This logic is common to many packages.

I've added this after the above to unlock if locked:

# Unlock account in case it was locked from previous purge.
usermod -U -e '' sbuild

This appears to reverse the locking, via inspection of the
shadow record. However, isn't documented as a valid
value for EXPIRE_DATE (it's the default in /etc/default/useradd
  though).

Given the need to consider unlocking as well as locking, I'm not sure
it's worth adding special support to deluser: the typical logic used
to create the user will be insufficient to unlock, so it's no less
the effort to add an explict unlock/lock to the maintainer scripts,
dropping use of deluser entirely.

I do agree that a --local option would be a valuable and useful
addition to the adduser and deluser etc. tools, even if currently
a no-op. However, due to the above I don't think that adding
special-case user locking to deluser is the correct course of action.

Roger

Bug#628478: base-files: please remove 'Pre-Depends: awk'

2011-05-29 Thread Cristian Ionescu-Idbohrn
Package: base-files
Version: 6.4
Severity: wishlist

The 'Pre-Depends: awk' is superfluous. Package coreutils:

Essential: yes
Priority: required

already privides 'tail' and 'cut' (smaller canons, compared to 'awk') that
can do the same job at a lower cost :)

2011-05-29 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: passenger-doc

passenger-doc suggests a package www-browse, which doesn't exist.
I think this is a typo and you meant www-browser.

I think the right thing to do would be to have deluser lock (rather

This is as simple as doing (in postrm)

Bug#623052: Resolved - lxterminal directory

2011-05-29 Thread edwardp
I was able to resolve this by opening up the directory using chmod
777, opening lxterminal, changing/saving the preferences as desired,
then did a chmod 555 to make the lxterminal directory read-only after
this (although it still lists root as the owner).

This bug can be marked as resolved. Thank you.

Bug#628480: linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64: System hangs after reboot command

2011-05-29 Thread Cosemans Bert
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-34squeeze1
Severity: important

The system fails to actually reboot after the reboot command. Everything shuts
down normally, but the machine doesn't start up again. The only way to get it
to start is to physically remove power and cold boot the machine. According to
the vendor this issue is caused due to a fault ACPI implementation.

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to purge due to a

Filing this as important because a.) it's a clear policy violation (to not
clean up at purge) b.) having a piuparts clean archive is a release goal
since lenny and c.) this package being piuparts buggy blocks packages
depending on it from being tested by piuparts (and thus possibly the
 detection of more severe problems).

Fixed in git. This was done by dropping account removal entirely
as recommended in current discussions.

We now lock the account on removal, and unlock on reinstall.

Bug#628481: debclean: please respect the option 'unapply-patches' in debian/source/local-options

2011-05-29 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.69
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/debclean

Hi,

In source format 3.0, the option 'unapply-patches' (usually set in
debian/source/local-options) is used to indicate that patches are to be
unapplied after building the package. This is commongly used when the
package itself is maintained in a VCS that contains unpatched upstream
source and where you want to keep the tree unpatched even after a
package build.

Having 'debuild clean' and 'debclean' respecting this setting would
streamline the workflow with source format 1.0, where a 'debclean'
restores the source tree to a state that allows further VCS operations
such as investigating and committing changes easily.

Thanks for considering.

It looks like sbuild uses /run/lock from the outside of the chroot.
When I changed the symlink to a relative one, the problem
 disappeared.

I moved to using /var/lib/sbuild/chroot-lock (inside the chroot)
which prevents the use of /run/lock/sbuild on the host, so this
won't cause problems for parallel builds.

Hi,

there seems to be a problem with the webkit package, it does not depend on

Bug#628478: Acknowledgement (base-files: please remove Pre-Depends: awk)

2011-05-29 Thread Cristian Ionescu-Idbohrn
The attached patch goes a bit further in optimising (and making
redirection syntax consistent).

The idea is: one needs not echo:ing anything when the one and only need is
to truncate/touch a file. IOW, this:

echo -n file

and this:

file

will truncate file, the latter without emploing help from echo.

Cheers,

I also had this issue when I used dash as /bin/sh, and from gdm.
In .xsession-errors there were some error messages about spurious

Bug#586685: User's .Xauthority file is ignored

Package: gdm3
Version: 2.30.5-10
Followup-For: Bug #586685

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi!

I also found this change annoying. I am using emacsclient which spawns
a new frame on the current DISPLAY using the XAUTHORITY from the
current running process. Since ssh adds the appropriate cookie to
~/.Xauthority, emacs running process does not have the correct cookie
since it is looking in /var/lib/gdm3/.../database.

What is the rationale of putting Xauthority file in /var/lib/gdm3
instead of its standard location?

I use the following snippet in my ~/.xsession to circumvent this
change:

if [[ $XAUTHORITY != ~/.Xauthority ]]; then
XAUTHORITY=~/.Xauthority xauth merge $XAUTHORITY
export XAUTHORITY=~/.Xauthority

Bug#628484: python-xpcom: 'print' method from nsIWebBrowserPrint doesn't work because it triggers a syntax error

2011-05-29 Thread Sascha Silbe
Package: python-xpcom

When trying to access the 'print' method of the nsIWebBrowserPrint

Bug#617450: [buildd-tools-devel] Bug#617450: sbuild: Please include lintian status in the bottom summary

it'd be nice if we could have a “lintian: ACK/NACK”-like line in the
bottom summary. ACK/NACK could mention the highest level, like:
  - Errors
  - Warnings
  - OK / All green / Good to go / whatever.

Having the actual issues listed right after that would make sense to me.
 That would match debuild's behaviour (running lintian after the build;
but you could run it where it is done currently, and only save the
output for later), and would make lintian's output (if there's an issue)
 more visible.

Done. Note that it currently looks like this:

Lintian: policy violation

due to using the pre-existing reasons:

if ($?) {
my $why = unknown reason;
$why = runtime error if ($status == 2);
$why = policy violation if ($status == 1);
$why = received signal  . $?  127 if ($?  127);
$self-log_error(Lintian run failed ($why)\n);
$self-set('Lintian Reason', $why);

We can, of course, alter this to make the summary values more simple/
informative for automated processing. Due to being based solely
upon the exit status, this can not pick up if non-fatal warnings
were issued--we would need to parse the lintian output for that.

We should probably shorten the text values to e.g.

0: successful
1: policy-violation
2: fatal-signal
*: unknown-error

(i.e. remove whitespace). We could alternatively do something
even simpler e.g. pass/fail/error.  Let me know which you prefer;
I think I would prefer pass/fail/error for simplicity--the detail
will always be in the main log (adding the actual lintian issues
to the summary is probably impractical--it's there in RFC-822
format so buildd can consume it at a later date).

Roger

This is a Python client library for the MusicBrainz web service. It should

been updated to the latest version, but I no longer use Debian as my OS and
I'm afraid I don't have enough time to maintain it.

Thanks Lukas for maintaining it so far, I'll bring it under DPMT umbrella.

Bug#569483: NMU

2011-05-29 Thread Wilmer van der Gaast
Yeah, I've used the patch on my servers for quite some time (I wrote it)
without problems. AFAIK it has more users, including users of the
FreeBSD spamass-milter port
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=155979, I just kept losing
it on upgrades.

I just did another rebuild so it's on my main mailserver again. I hope
we can have it upstream now. :-)

Just went through the whole diff once more, found no issues. I'm
attaching the newest version that should apply cleanly on 0.3.1-10.

Cheers,

Wilmer van der Gaast.

Bug#628485: RM: saods9 -- RoQA; RC buggy, orphaned, abandoned

2011-05-29 Thread Neil Williams
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

For some reason, when libtktable2.9 was removed on 2011-04-20,
saods9 which has a build-dependency and runtime dependency was
not removed. This led to one of the RC bugs but another still
exists and the package build process is quite a mess.

saods9 was removed from testing but it is still orphaned after
3 years with the last ITA interest in 2010.

science-astronomy currently has a Suggests: on saods9, so there
appears to be no reason to retain saods9 in unstable.

Time to remove saods9 from unstable please.

Bug#626877: pmake: Hardcoded paths to libraries breaks multiarch

2011-05-29 Thread Luk Claes
Hi

I installed Ubuntu's libc: libc6-dev, libc-dev-bin, libc-bin, libc6,
locales, -libc6-i686.

I applied the patch and rebuild pmake which I also installed.

I installed the remaining build dependencies of makefs.

I built makefs without problems.

Without the patch, it FTBFS with pmake: don't know how to make
/usr/lib/libc.a. Stop

So as a summary: the patch should be applied and fixes this bug.

Cheers

Luk

Bug#628487: mount: Make acl usable by default

2011-05-29 Thread Olaf van der Spek

Hi,

Would it be possible to enable the acl option by default, for filesystems that
require it?
This would make using acls one step simpler.

Bug#628488: [ecryptfs-utils] Need a way to stop pam_ecryptfs from automounting Private directory on login

2011-05-29 Thread ras
Package: ecryptfs-utils
Version: 83-4
Severity: wishlist

I'd like not to have ~/Private directory automatically mounted on login,
but instead I want to mount it manually, entering a password.
It was mentioned, that one can just remove the auto-mount file in order
to stop ~/Private from being auto-(u)mounted, but this obviously does
not work, see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=612160 .
Also see Ubuntu bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/256154 ,
comments #4 to #8.
So, if it will not be fixed, I need an another way to disable this
auto-mounting.

Bug#533589: ITP: bt747 -- update information

2011-05-29 Thread Mònica Ramírez Arceda
FTR,

I contacted with upstream and he was very responsive :-)

Some problems are solved or will be, but I need two exernal libraries
that are not in Debian:

* libjchart2d-java: there is an ITP[0], hopefully we'll have this!

* libsanselan-java: I requested for it [1]. It would be great if someone
would like to package it (maybe Debian Java Team?). I had a look at it
and it's built with Maven.

Cheers,
