It is very much a bug.
If somehow something is disabled (who knows how?), there is no mention that it
is
disabled. Instead one is told to download a new version, unlike Firefox.

Seems to be a dupe of 644425: e2fsprogs: undefined symbol in fsck.ext4.
Updating libcomerr2 to 1.42~WIP-2011-10-05-1 fixed the bug for me.
