So that is claiming it doesn't think you have Getopt/Std.pm, which should be provided by perl-modules-$(PERL_MAJOR_MINOR_VERSION) (e.g. in your case, 5.28). What do dpkg -l | egrep '^ii perl-' and ls -l /usr/share/perl/5.28*/Getopt/Std.pm have to say? (Regardless of what they have to say, there should definitely be an explicit perl dep in zfs-dkms now, since that definitely won't work without it.) - Rich

The problem is that when xterm's handling selectToClipboard, the X libraries delay the call to SelectionReceived, and in working on #758633, I didn't notice this particular scenario. Bug#915816: RM: uptimed -- ROM; long time bugs non-fixed, better alternatives
On Fri, Dec 07, 2018 at 11:06:01AM +0100, Axel Beckert wrote: Hi, leap second [2], Never noticed that despite having uptimed installed on more or less all my Debian systems for more like 15 years or so. You're breaking my tradition!!1!eleventy! ;-) I understand how you feel, I've used uptimed on all my systems for the past 10 years. In the usecase were uptimes shines(servers) there is almost no reason to no use tuptime [1] On boards, were usually run from SD, you want to minimize disk writes, uptimed won't let you remount the filesystem as RO. With tuptime you'll need to hack a bit to remount RW every now and then, or run it just before shutting down, but is more manageable. On laptops uptimed is buggy, tuptime is not. If you wanna build something on top of the uptime data, tuptime gives you a sqlite db which is better that parse /var/spool/uptime/records [2] If you wanna "extend" tuptime you just need yo hack the Python script. I really don't see a situation where uptimed is better than tuptime. and general bugginess that hasn't been solved in years [3] That one I noticed. But as the severity states, it's minor (but admittedly annoying). Ricardo (tuptime upstream and Debian maintainer) has agreed to add a note to tuptime's long description about uptimed (for people doing `apt-cache search uptimed`) and a migration script [4] Actually for some reason, I thought the import of the uptimed database is done by default if present. I probably misread that addition to the package description. I'll submit a patch to Buster release notes regarding the removal. Maybe there should be a transitional package from uptimed to tuptime which actually calls that migration script. (For that it needs to be packaged uncompressed and not under /usr/share/doc/. Will file bug reports for these two things later today.) No, I don't think tuptime should replace uptimed, their CLI is different, tuptime pulls Python. tuptime could run the import script on postinst (I'd provide a patch if Ricardo agrees with the idea and implementation), but it should not Breaks/Conflicts/Replaces uptimed in case someone wants to keep using uptimed after upgrading to Buster. [3] [1] - tuptime pulls Python as a dep, I don't remeber any server without python installed in the last years (python apps, or fail2ban, or ansible, or saltstack or monitoring scripts, and the list goes on) some people may not want to have python installed [2] - which may have duplicate data anyway [3] - uptimed is composed by a binary, a daemon and a library, it only links against glibc so an old deb should keep working for a few releases -- IRC: gfa GPG: 0X44BB1BA79F6C6333

Control: severity -1 important > Hm, unfortunately this is outside of my wheelhouse... May I suggest > contacting the MIPS porters? Again, would really love to see gnucash > released in buster... We already removed gnucash/mips from unstable [1] so this issue is not blocking gnucash from migrating to Testing. Since we don't consider this to be release-critical at this time, I'm lowering the severity so that this bug itself won't be a blocker to gnucash re-entering Testing. Bug#915904: [Pkg-phototools-devel] Bug#915904: feh: Does not store rotate images
Control: tags -1 +confirmed On Fri, Dec 7, 2018 at 8:45 PM Andreas Tille wrote: > Package: feh > Version: 3.1-1 [...] > since the update to version 3.1 feh does not store images that > are rotated via '<' / '>' keys. Indeed and that's an upstream decision since the 3.0 release[1]. Quoting: "Flip and rotation (keys "<", ">", "|", and "_") no longer change the underlying file. This leaves delete ("Ctrl+Delete") as the only destructive action which is enabled by default. Add option --edit, which makes flip and rotation change the underlying file as well as the displayed image. This was the default behaviour in feh 1.x and 2.x". You have three options to circumvent this. Use the 's' key to save the modified image with the 'feh_' filename prefix, use 'feh --edit' to view and be able to change your pictures (please close the bug in these cases if you agree with it) or as a package uploader you can restore the previous behavior with patching src/options.c to set opt.edit unconditionally (close this bug from the changelog then). Kind regards, Laszlo/GCS [1] https://feh.finalrewind.org/archive/3.0/

Confirmed: iptables should divert /sbin/ebtables*, and having two different commands with the same name in the $PATH is broken with or without merged-/usr. But while the bug is in iptables I will make usrmerge conflict with ebtables: since ebtables is deprecated this should cause less problems for users. Bug#904976: what are the problems?
Andreas, you say "The GTK3 version contains too much problems". Do you have a list of these problems? Just now I found a problem in geeqie (fullscreen spanning multiple monitors is broken), which is very easy to fix for GTK3 and hard to fix for GTK2 (https://github.com/BestImageViewer/geeqie/pull/651) If we had a list of issues, I might have a look at some of them (just to get my fullscreen fix working in Debian). openSUSE has been compiling geeqie with GTK3 since April 2016, so it can't be all that bad. If you paper over the issues by sticking to GTK2, we might never get the chance to fix them. -- Jiri Bohac e-mail/jabber: j...@boha.cz

Bug#915913: autopkgtest: please document what the syntax of the Features field is
Package: autopkgtest Version: 5.6 Severity: normal Hi, from here: https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest/raw/master/doc/README.package-tests.rst it says: > Features: feature-name [, another-feature-name ...] > Declares some additional capabilities or good properties of the > tests defined in this stanza. Any unknown features declared will be > completely ignored. See below for the defined features. > > Features are separated by commas and/or whitespace. then further below under "defined features" it says: > test-name > Set an explicit test name for the log heading and the ``summary`` file > for a ``Test-Command:`` inline test. When not given, these are > enumerated like ``command1``. But this does not explain the syntax of how a test name is actually specified. Does one just write it in the Features field? Or is it test-name:thename or does one have to quote something? Please document what the right syntax is. My use case: I have a test that uses Test-Command but the output becomes hard to understand if tests are just named command1, command2 and so forth. Thus I want to give them meaningful names. Unfortunately under "Test-Command" it also says "This is mutually exclusive with the ``Tests:`` field". Is there a practical reason why these fields are mutually exclusive? Naively, I would've expected, that when Test-Command is given, then it doesn't look for a script but instead executes the command but that it anyways takes the test name from the "Tests" field. It seems unnecessarily complicated to require the test-name feature thing. Thanks! cheers, josch

Nor would I expect it to; ufw has explicit code to reject this scenario. Bug#915912: modules: reproducible build (usrmerge): embeds path of tools found via PATH
Source: modules Version: 4.2.1-1 Severity: normal Tags: unreproducible User: m...@linux.it Dear Maintainer, The package currently fails to build reproducibly in a merged-usr vs non-merged environment. The path of ps is embedded in a shipped file and is found via /usr/bin (rather than /bin) on a merged-usr system (where /bin is a symlink to /usr/bin), since default PATH has /usr/bin before /bin. This is unfortunate for non-merged systems as there /usr/bin/ps does not exist. There are other tools which has the same problem, but they are not affected by merged-usr as they normally live in /usr/bin. However these paths might also end up incorrect, since the local dirty build environment could have the tool installed in /usr/local/bin or may have modified $PATH in some way that gives undesired results. Regards, Andreas Henriksson

Bug#915910: dist: reproducible build (usrmerge): embeds path of tools found via PATH
Package: dist Version: 1:3.5-236-0.1 Severity: normal Tags: patch unreproducible User: m...@linux.it Usertags: usrmerge Dear Maintainer, The package currently fails to build reproducibly on merged-usr vs non-merged systems. The paths of grep, sed, cat and zcat are looked up during build from PATH and is embedded in shipped files. There's a "d_portable" setting which promises to build portable scripts (by expanding from PATH at runtime, rather than build-time), but enabling it seems to cause build failure so it could not be used. I thus opted for explicitly specifying the paths for the affected tools. You however might want to earn extra bonus points fixing builds in dirty local environment by looking at all tools specified in loclist and trylist (in Configure), find which ones gets their path embedded in shipped files, and explicitly specify them all. (Or why not just fix up d_portable?) You might however want to give priority to looking at the stuff that lintian warns about for this package, which seems alot more urgent than spending time on fixing up builds done in dirty local environments. Please see the attached patch. Hi Herbert, many thanks for your advice. I followed the instructions in uscan - imported the upstream maintainers public key and then exported the minimal signing key. Thanks to both of you for the information. I have forwarded this bug upstream, it looks like `batch` is set up to work primarily with "version 1" doveadm commands, converting "version 2" commands to 1 under the hood. Apparently `kick` is lacking an allocation function that would allow it to work as a "version 1" command, causing a null pointer dereference on the way there. Regards, Apollon

Bug#915903: broctl: reproducible build (usrmerge): embeds path of shell found via PATH
Package: broctl Version: 1.4-1 Severity: normal User: m...@linux.it Usertags: usrmerge Tags: patch Dear Maintainer, The package currently fails to build reproducibly on merged-usr vs non-merged systems. This is because the build systems InstallShellScript macro rewrites shebangs by looking up things via PATH which can lead to picking up unwanted paths (eg. /usr/local/bin/bash). The upstream build system has already identified this problem and provides a configure flag to disable the rewriting: --binary-package Unfortunately it seems dh doesn't use the provided configure script but invokes CMake directly, thus I had to define the "internal" symbol that --binary-package sets: -DBINARY_PACKAGE_MODE=true Please see the attached patch that fixes this bug report. Bug#915880: Acknowledgement (lvm2: Dependency on liblz4-1 causes /sbin binaries to depend on /usr/lib libraries)
FWIW, I tried doing a blank install with the Buster Alpha 3 installer, putting /usr on a separate LVM volume to see if Debian Buster would also be affected of this. It was not - /usr was mounted without any obvious problems during bootup. (This seems to be different from Ubuntu 18.04, but I haven't tried that install myself, only seen others failing with it when /usr was on a separate LVM volume.) So, the severity of this is rightfully "normal". Would you like me to re-route it to the liblz4-1 package instead of lvm2? (I guess the proper fix for this would be to fix the build script for liblz4-1 so that it's build output gets packaged into /lib instead of /usr/lib) On Fri, Dec 7, 2018 at 4:57 PM Debian Bug Tracking System wrote: > > Thank you for filing a new Bug report with Debian. > > You can follow progress on this Bug here: 915880: > https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=915880. > > This is an automatically generated reply to let you know your message > has been received. > > Your message is being forwarded to the package maintainers and other > interested parties for their attention; they will reply in due course. > > As you requested using X-Debbugs-CC, your message was also forwarded to > per...@gmail.com > (after having been given a Bug report number, if it did not have one). > > Your message has been sent to the package maintainer(s): > Debian LVM Team > > If you wish to submit further information on this problem, please > send it to 915...@bugs.debian.org. > > Please do not send mail to ow...@bugs.debian.org unless you wish > to report a problem with the Bug-tracking system. > > -- > 915880: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=915880 > Debian Bug Tracking System > Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems
