I too have been suffering with the exact same bug on Wheezy and it constantly
freezes gnome-shell 3.4 and freezes various games that use OpenGL. I have,

My use case is using tsocks to allow tunnelling into restricted
corporate IP space, whilst the vast majority of my IP connectivity is
direct.

I just realised that I can use the usb keyboard in the boot selection sreen of
GRUB but I can't use it to type in the password for my encrypted disk (later
