Bug#345101: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base uses modprobe instead of /sbin/modprobe
Package: alsa-base Version: 1.0.10-3 Severity: normal In /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base there are lines like: install snd modprobe --ignore-install snd { modprobe --quiet snd-ioctl32 ; : ; } Using this with /bin/zsh as /bin/sh fails (e.g. when running udevsynthesize you see something like 'zsh: command not found: modprobe' in syslog when running udev with log_priority=debug). Changing all the 'modprobe' calls to '/sbin/modprobe' fixes the problem. (I've tested this with /bin/bash as /bin/sh - works as well of course then.) All other files in /etc/modprobe.d/ seem to use '/sbin/modprobe' and not 'modprobe'. If there is no specific reason why 'modprobe' is used instead of '/sbin/modprobe' in alsa-base please consider changing this as it fixes a very annoying (and not-easy-to-debug) problem with zsh. regards, -mika- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#388525: initscripts: support disabling of swap via bootoption noswap
Package: initscripts Version: 2.86.ds1-20 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch As discussed on #pkg-sysvinit (with pere and mbiebl) it would be great to be able to control use of swap-partitions before the system boots up. Adding support for a bootoption noswap would provide the option to disable the use of swap-partitions/-files before booting the system at all or manually editing /etc/fstab. Use cases for disabling swap before system startup are for example corrupt swap-partitions/files, the use of external usb/firewire devices or even (under certain circumstances of course) forensic investigations. There are two init scripts inside the initscripts package which have to be adjusted: /etc/init.d/checkroot.sh and /etc/init.d/mountall.sh I've created (tested) patches against the two files which implement the requested feature. Package: initscripts Version: 2.86.ds1-36 Severity: wishlist As discussed with Petter Reinholdtsen on #pkg-sysvinit the fstab entry for sysfs (if present) has to look like the entry generated by the initscripts (mountkernfs.sh + mtab.sh). If that's *not* the case, booting the system complains about something like: Will now mount local filesystems:mount: /sys already mounted or /sys busy mount: according to mtab, sysfs is already mounted on /sys failed Important is that the sysfs entry in /etc/fstab exactly looks like the entry generated by the domount sysfs ... command of the initscripts. Package: fai-server Version: 3.2.10 Severity: normal (As discussed on IRC with MrFai, reporting to the BTS as requested.) Problem: Scripts like config/scripts/$CLASS/*.dpkg-old are being executed by FAI. Oh and you have your kerneldir somewhere else than in the default directory and can build against it? The buildsystem tries to directly access /usr/include/linux/autoconf.h which I don't have there but specified to look at the given kerneldir instead. Works fine for 20 packages but only open-vm is failing regards, -mika- signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#499352: invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/udev not found.
Package: fuse-utils Version: 2.7.4-1 Severity: important With the most recent version the installation fails: [...] Setting up libfuse2 (2.7.4-1) ... Setting up fuse-utils (2.7.4-1) ... creating fuse group... Adding group `fuse' (GID 103) ... Done. udev active, skipping device node creation. invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/udev not found. dpkg: error processing fuse-utils (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 100 Setting up libgomp1 (4.3.2-1) ... [...] It's running inside a chroot and until this version it used to install just fine. Regarding udev: udev isn't present at this stage of installation, though udev is installed later on after installation of fuse-utils and correctly detects that it's running inside a chroot and therefor won't start up: [...] A chroot environment has been detected, udev not started. [...] So maybe fuse-utils should detect whether the udev initscript is present at all and if not just skip the invoke-rc.d call? If you need any further information please let me know, as it's a FAI based setup I can rebuild the installation setup on request. regards, -mika- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#500192: openssh-server: support generation of ssh keys if none are present
Package: openssh-server Version: 1:5.1p1-2 Severity: wishlist When creating Live-CDs you have to remove any present ssh keys before providing the ISO to the public. But to be able to use sshd later on you have to create ssh keys of course. It would be great if the initscript of sshd could execute ssh-keygen if there aren't any ssh host keys present. regards, -mika- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#479014: Any news?
Hi Christophe, are there any news regarding the packaging of guymager? I'm sitting here with Guy Voncken and he has some preliminary Debian packages of guymager and libguytools available. Is there anything we can do to help in getting guymager/libguytools into Debian's pool? BTW: You also filled several other ITPs where the packages aren't available in Debian yet: #469963 rifiuti #469067 revit #468958 dc3dd #468940 ftimes #469062 recoverdm #469063 md5deep Do you have any concret plans regarding packaging and uploading of the packages? thx regards, -mika- signature.asc Description: Digital signature
