Bug#939071: 6.4 Load Missing Firmware should mention unpacking zip/tar

2019-09-02 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hi Joey,

Dixit Joey Hess, le 31/08/2019 :

>The instructions assume that the user will unpack the zip or tarball
>they download, but they don't say to do so.
The section you mention says
(https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/amd64/ch06s04.en.html) :
>Just download the tarball or zip file for the correct release and
>unpack it to the file system on the medium.
…unpack is here !

>There's an implicit
>assumption that the user won't consider firmware.zip to be a
>firmware file. Also that the user knows how to extract zip files or
>tarballs or what any of these file types are.
I don't think the installation guide must cover the "how to use a zip
archive" case, but it can maybe suggest to use an external soft and
that firmaware files are *.deb.

For example, in installation-guide/en/using-d-i/loading-firmware.xml:
[...] and unpack it to
-the file system on the medium.
+the file system on the medium. Use an appropriate software like
+7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/)
+or tar (https://www.gnu.org/software/tar/) to obtain a list of *.deb
+files to put in the /firmware directory mentioned.
[...]
It is also possible to copy individual firmware files to the medium. Loose
firmware could be obtained for example from an already installed system or
-from a hardware vendor.
+from a hardware vendor. These files are generally binary files and
+named *.bin.

Bug#931938: claws-mail: unable to connect to IMAP server

2019-07-12 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: claws-mail
Version: 3.17.1-1~bpo9+1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Since mid-june, claws-mail seems unable to connect to IMAP server.
To my local Courier server, I get a "stream error", but I can telnet to
it (and user/pass are OK)
To a remote IMAP e-mail provider, I get a "connection refused", but I
can openssl s_client -connect imaps.lautre.net:993 (and user/pass are
OK)

I have the same results with claws-mail from stretch (3.14) and from
stretch-backports (3.17).
But an old stretch system (not updated since ~february) works as
wanted.

I have a --debug output if needed.

Thanks for any pointer to an explanation or a workaround,
and thanks for maintaining claws-mail in Debian.

Baptiste

Bug#904525: release-notes: Links to buster release notes don't work

2019-02-12 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hello all,
(adding -release to Cc since they are "in charge" for the release notes)

Dixit Martin Michlmayr, le 12/02/2019 :

>Since the freeze has started, are there plans to get the release notes
>for buster published (even if only a draft)?

I think we are still trying to find time to do this !

Technically:
Do we create a branch for Stretch and use master for Buster,
or use a branch for Buster? (what's the use of master?)
I prefer the first solution.

In any case, -www should be asked to update cron/parts/7release-notes
to add the build for the website.

If nobody disagree or run faster, I can do it in the next few
days.

Thanks for the reminder.

Bug#918939: debconf: program french translation

2019-01-10 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: debconf
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

Dear Maintainer,

Please find attached the updated french translation of the debconf program.
This file should be put as po/fr.po in your package build tree.

The msgids to update begin with "_" and are in the Gnome frontend
(_Quit, _Next and _Back).
I think this is for some shortcut, but don't know if I have to indicate them,
or if I should prepend the french word with _ (even with a different letter?)
For the moment, I only translate the msgid, but don't hesitate to ask me for
an update if needed.

Thanks for maintaining debconf.

Thanks for your feedback.
Indeed, ca & cs translations are disabled in the Makefile.
So we just need to have a working transcount script for 1) have a
successfull build and 2) taking care of future (or reactivated) xml
translations.

As nobody disagree, I plan to push the attached change during the
week-end.

Hello all,

It could be good to build again the release-notes.

If nobody objects, I can commit the proposed changes, and then ask -www
team to update the cron/parts/7release-notes script.

I'm Cc-ing the last translators for ca & cs, if they want to give some
input. But there were no update in 7 years, so these translations could
be marked as obsolete ?

The attached patch works, but the statistics for ca & cs are wrong
because the svn revision tracked now don't match the actual git hash.
And ca & cs translators will need to find the git hash
corresponding to the old svn revision to know where to look back to
update the translation. This have to be done only once, but before to
keep correct stats.

Bug#904525: release-notes: Links to buster release notes don't work

Thank you for your report.

There are a bunch of links that are claimed to be for draft release
notes for Buster.

Unfortunately, all of them wind up at “Page not found”.

Is this deliberate? Or is it possibly a result of some recent change
of servers, or the like?
For the moment, there is no draft for buster release notes. So this is
deliberate.

Sorry, but t seems I over-reacted with this.
Claws remembers the passphrase only some minutes (seconds?) with the
above settings. It asks passphrase again after some more times.

So I'm lowering severity, as I think this is the expected feature.

Sorry for the noise, feel free to close this without more actions.

Bug#880696: debian-refcard: PDFs have various problems (layout broken, missing spaces or line breaks ...)

2017-11-05 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hi Holger,

Dixit Holger Wansing, le 04/11/2017 :

>The reported issues are not to be corrected in the english dbk files
>or in the po files.
Yes, in general.
But the only 3 others literal-spaces seems not more useful.
(command --help, tar, and dpkg --compare-versions)
They look like hacks used to give a nice output...
And the german version already removed it.

>In the stretch version (9.0.4) of the package, everything is fine. So
>the reason for those issues is somewhere in the build chain of the
>pdfs.
For the record, I made all my test locally with Stretch (9.1).

Thanks for taking care of the refcard.

Control: tag -1 patch

Hello,

Dixit Alex, le 03/11/2017 :

>>move command is spelled "mv file1file2"

>I double checked and found that the part above is also the issue for

This seems to be due to " ". Maybe this was useful
for some old build engine?

Attached patch remove it, and take care of translations.
As fr & es should shorter the word used for "file" to be displayed, I
corrected this too.

Bug#876555: claws-mail keep gpg passphrase in memory eve if store_passphrase=0

2017-09-23 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: claws-mail
Version: 3.14.1-3+b1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Since the upgrade to Stretch and claws-mail 3.14.1, I found that claws-mail
remember the gpg passphrase instead of asking it for every send.
I double-check the config and I have:
use_gpg_agent=0
store_passphrase=0
in ~.claws-mail/clawsrc.

I use severity: important as it could be a security issue
(leave your computer one minute and someone send an e-mail signed by you!).

Don't hesitate to ask me if you need more info, or correct me if I miss
something in the configuration.

Thanks for maintaining claws-mail in Debian.

As firefox-esr is rebuilt for stable and migrate with security-update,
it's the same version from testing to oldstable!
Maybe just drop this line?

Dear Maintainer,

Extracting rar archive with xfe builtin function try to find unrar.
As unrar is non-free in Debian, several people are unable to use this (out of
the box)
Could you replace the 4 occurences of
cmd="unrar x -o+ ;" (FilePanel.cpp & SearchPanel.cpp) with
cmd="unar -f ;" that should have the same effect.
You could then add "Recommends: unar" in the control file.

Bug#861620: release-notes: some global reviewing

(OK for me)

We should also keep in sync the two sentences about LSB:
2.2 What's new
Debian supports Linux Standard Base (LSB) version 4.1, with one
explicit and Debian-specific derogation from the LSB 4.1
specification: Qt3 is not included.

and later:
5.1.7. Most LSB compatibility packages have been removed

Maybe just drop the 2.2 part?

No...
I think I have to revert the Stretch RN (because it's not new now!) and

I add a line in "obsolete package" section and a full section at the

I think I found 2 errors:
There's a missing closing tag line 238 of

And you should call

Make was successful locally with these changes.

For now the content is the same, but it's my plan to clean up these
three partners.data files (for the past years, remove obsolete
partners, and contact this years' partners so they update their
descriptions).
So, do you know how to have these *.data files appears on the web-stats
page

(https://www.debian.org/devel/website/stats/fr for example)
as the *.src files for the vote/ section ?
Maybe rename it partners.src ? (because adding *.data will could cause
the dsa-*.data appears as translatable, but they aren't)

Or using po-files ?

Thanks.

I couldn't find the way in the Makefile(s) to not need for an "images"

Apart from that, I think everything builds ok.

If nobody complains about this proposal, I would merge it at the end
of the week.

I know it's too late… but could you try to put partners.data (and maybe
images/ too) in the top level partners/ directory.
This could avoid the duplication of the always-the-same description for
each partners. And simplify translations (and updates ?).

By the way, thanks for this update.

The second one update all language.ent translation files already using

Bug#851414: debian-faq: Adapt build for UTF-8 in french translation

2017-01-14 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: debian-faq
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

The fr/Makefile and po4a/po4a.cfg assume french is ISO-8859-15.
Now that we have switched to UTF-8, if we want to use non-ascii characters
in the po-file, the Makefile must be adapted.

Here is a patch doing so, inspired from other languages, lightly tested.
(I could commit, as I have write access in ddp svn, but I prefer ask
in this bugreport before doing anything.)

Thanks for maintaining debian-faq.

Bug#850066: mariadb-10.0: French debconf translation

2017-01-03 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: mariadb-10.0
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

Dear Maintainer,

A little typo change made a string fuzzy in the french debconf translations.
(commit 340f6350e3372646962df394a0931ddc75dc8e3e)
The attached file unfuzzy the french translation (and correct headers).

Thanks for maintaining mariadb.

Sorry about that, I didn't check enough.
I now put the changes in the po file found in sid (git20160726-1).
I hope you could apply it.

Bug#849472: phabricator: French debconf translation

2016-12-27 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: phabricator
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch l10n

Dear Maintainer,

The french debconf templates were proofread by Christian Perrier and
the debian-l10n-french team back in November 2014.
(starting here
https://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-french/2014/11/msg00029.html)

As we never sent it back to you, and it's still time for having it in Stretch,
here it is with the usual message :

Please find attached the french debconf templates translation,
proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors.

This file should be put as debian/po/fr.po in your package build tree.

Thanks for maintainig phabricator.

Bug#768914: Bug#847038: Wireless password displayed in clear

2016-12-05 Thread Baptiste Jammet

Hi all,

Le 05/12/2016 07:32, Christian PERRIER a écrit :

Quoting wi...@infradead.org (wi...@infradead.org):
Second, it prompted me to enter the WPA2 passphrase, but it displays
the

password as I typed it instead of masking it with dots the way that it
does for user & root passwords.

This is #768914 and FWIW, I personnaly do not agree with changing the
password phrase prompt to hide the text as typed.

The only idea that comes to my mind is a (low priority) debconf
question before the passphrase prompt, asking users whether they want
the passphrase to be shown as typed or not.

Since d-i Stretch Alpha x (verified with daily images), there is a
checkbox "Show password" during the {root,user}-password questions.
As a non-tech user, I wonder if this can be used for the wifi passphrase
too ?

Bug#839213: po-debconf: unfuzzy all translations

2016-09-30 Thread Baptiste Jammet

Package: po-debconf
Severity: wishlist
Tags: l10n, patch

Dear maintainer,

The last update in doc/en/po-debconf.7.pod has lightly modified an
english string with

s/noone/no one/ (checked against 1.0.16).

You could apply the attached patch to the po-files, it only un-fuzzy
this string in all the languages without modifying anything else. This
will put back po-debconf doc translation back to 100% in all the
supported languages.

Thanks for maintaining po-debconf.

Baptiste

Bug#828679: llgal: Typo in man llgalrc

2016-06-26 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Package: llgal
Version: 0.13.17-2
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

There is a small typo in man llgalrc that bugged me before I understand it:
The "make_caption_from_image_comment" is written twice,
the second one instead of "make_caption_from image_timestamp".

Patch attached for clarity !

Thanks for maintaining llgal.

Hi,

>I have built the french pdfs, and I see no grave problems.

The pdf looks fine. I think I don't have the exact same buildchain
locally.
There is only the window title that is wrong, I think something with
encoding (there is strange characters istead of "é" and non-breakable
space), but the old one had the same problem.

Thanks.

Package: refcard

Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Please find attached the updated french translation for refcard,
proofread by the french localisation team.

Note that the build is not perfect in french :
the copyright notice is not displayed (-a4.pdf & -lt.pdf) and the end of
the dpkg table overwrite the network title ("Le réseau") (only -a4.pdf).

I've seen #821119 and I will try with
  make USE_DBLATEX=2 refcard-fr-a4.pdf
and report back here if there is any improvement.

Debian images are isohybrid. Live images too. So please try creating the
USB stick with win32diskimager
(http://sf.net/projects/win32diskimager/) as explain in the
installation manual
(https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/ch04s03.html.fr#usb-copy-isohybrid).

You can also ask for help in french in the mailing list for french users

Good luck.

Bug#780573: release-notes: Review from the d-i team

2015-04-11 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hello,

Dixit Niels Thykier, le 16/03/2015 :

I am contacting you to do a final review of the release-notes for the
d-i related topics (as listed on [1]):

Here are some items I think it's important to highlight, taken from d-i
release announces.
I tried to clean the page a bit and mark some old stuff as wheezy.
Please review because I'm not a native english, and I surely forgot
some important changes.

Bug#782112: French: Release Info translated to Dernière version in main page www.debian.org

2015-04-08 Thread Baptiste Jammet

Hello,

Someone already found this bug in #721687 (I saw you merged) and we
carefully ignored it...
To have some argument, I can say that release and info are singular,
so it is 1 information on 1 release. Litterally, that could be
translated as Information sur la version, which is very ugly.

The second point is we are very conservative and this string is here
since the origin of the translation of the web site ;-)

And last but not least, the link points to a page who says :
Debian always has at least three releases in active maintenance:
stable, testing and unstable.

So it should be ReleaseS infoS, as all past releases + the coming one
are listed.

But sometimes clarity is better than precision.

Could we just close this not-a-bug ? It takes me a lot of time to find
good words that can thanks for the help offered, but decline it as I am
(we are ?) happy with this string (and some others, I have now to answer
to #709685 ;-).

Bug#730441: release-notes: Debian requires an i586 since at least squeeze

2014-12-07 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hi all,

Dixit Samuel Bronson, le 24/11/2013 :
This would seem to indicate that you now need at least a 586 to run
Debian.

Similar words were added to the installation-guide by Ben in
commits r69410-69412, so I think we can close this bug now.

Dixit Cyril Brulebois, le 11/03/2014 :
We could probably update the squeeze section, but it might make sense
to keep that open until jessie's fate is decided; tagging moreinfo
accordingly.
(If someone wants to commit and close this bug report, please clone it
first to keep track of jessie's future.)

I don't understand the need to clone it now, so I can close this
bug in few days, unless someone do it before or tell me to not do it.

Bug#764277: Graphical DE task don't install any DE

2014-10-19 Thread Baptiste Jammet
(It seems my e-mail didn't reach the BTS, so here it is)

Hi,
(Cc: -bsd@ because it may be kfreebsd-specific)

Dixit Joey Hess, le 08/10/2014 :

These package which were not installed, are mostly direct Recommends
of the task-desktop package. So it seems that Recommends were either
not being installed, despite tasksel running apt-get -o
APT::Install-Recommends=true or some dependency issue prevented
installing those Recommends.

Also, tasksel should default to selecting the xfce task on kfreebsd.
This can be tested in an already installed system by running:
sudo tasksel -t --new-install

I don't know if someone is waiting for me to do something...
So the above command shows
 apt-get -o APT::Install-Recommends=true
 task-desktop task-ssh-server task-french-desktop task-french
if I only select Graphical DE, and
 apt-get -o APT::Install-Recommends=true
 task-french task-xfce-desktop task-ssh-server
if I only select Xfce.

Hopefully that's enough to let someone who has the bandwidth to look
at what's causing this problem on kfreebsd.

I don't have enough knowledge to do more on this, but let me know if
you want me to make more tests.

Bug#730441: release-notes: Debian requires an i586 since at least squeeze

2014-02-15 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Control: reassign -1 installation-guide

Hi maintainers,

I'm reassigning this bug because these words are from
installation-guide, and note from RN.

Dixit Samuel Bronson, le 24/11/2013 :

Looking at http://bugs.debian.org/609690, it seems that gcc has been
defaulting to -march=i586 at least since squeeze, or r4557 in the GCC
packaging SVN [1].

This would seem to indicate that you now need at least a 586 to run
Debian.

However, section 2.1.2.1 CPU of the release notes still says:

However, Debian GNU/Linux wheezy will not run on 386 or earlier
processors. Despite the architecture name i386, support for actual
80386 processors (and their clones) was dropped with the Sarge
(r3.1) release of Debian[2]. (No version of Linux has ever supported
the 286 or earlier chips in the series.) All i486 and later
 processors are still supported[3].

I'd like to add that, despite the fact that gcc has been defaulting to
-march=i586, I succesfully installed wheezy 7.3 inside
qemu-system-i386 -cpu 486.
(I've only chosen base install and did not make more tests.)

This should be updated.

You can find attached a proposed wording for
d-i/trunk/manual/en/hardware/supported/i386.xml

Bug#723004: scite: Add recommends:a2ps to be able to print

2013-09-18 Thread Baptiste Jammet
Hi Antonio,

Native printing support has been implemented upstream via GTK3.
It is available in debian since scite 3.2.3-1 (see also [1]).
[1] http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=654959

Sorry, I didn't noticed it because I'm only running stable !
Does it mean that this property will have no more effect ?

command.print.*=

(just for my curiosity)

Probably this bug can be just closed.

I'm OK for that, thank you for your quick reaction.

Baptiste

Bug#721114: [www.debian.org] /doc/index.fr.html: Broken link to documents d'intérêt historique

2013-08-29 Thread Baptiste Jammet

Control: tags -1 patch

Bonjour,

on documents d'intérêt historique. This link was removed in version

Maybe you could just mail the translation team at
debian-l10n-fre...@lists.debian.org (in french, mais vous parlez
français je crois ...). Because open a bug for a typo or a dead link is
something I call tuer une mouche avec un char d'assaut.

Remember :
http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2012/12/msg00090.html
http://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-french/2012/04/msg00233.html

Even more, if you could provide a patch (like the one attached), you
could be seen as a hero ...

Thanks.
