Bug#872981: Please enable CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE for linux-image-4.13
Package: linux-image Version: 4.13.0-rc5 Severity: wishlist Hi Ben, > Send config requests to the bug tracking system, please. as requested: linux-image-4.13.0 introduced CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE: Detect overflows of buffers in common string and memory functions where the compiler can determine and validate the buffer sizes. I applied this configuration in my custom kernel and it works fine. Therefore I asked Kees some time ago >> Is there any chance to get it officially activated? and he aanswered: > I'm sure all the distros will set it enabled, and in a few years the > upstream kernel will make it on-by-default. :) Long story short: Please enable this configuration option. Thanks in advance! Markus

Bug#828477: openvpn: FTBFS with openssl 1.1.0
Hi Alberto, this defect will be fixed in OpenVPN 2.5. OpenVPN 2.5_git [git:master/0402c7faadf907d4] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu [SSL (OpenSSL)] [EPOLL] [MH/PKTINFO] [AEAD] built on Jun 23 2017 library versions: OpenSSL 1.1.0f 25 May 2017 works fine e.g. with tls-cipher TLS-ECDHE-RSA-WITH-CHACHA20-POLY1305-SHA256 Is there any chance to get a prebuild based on https://github.com/OpenVPN/openvpn.git for experimental? Bug#493234: su: double free or corruption
Hi, I observed a probem with libpam-mount which is documented in bugreport #493234 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=493234). After the upgrade from libpam-runtime 1.0.1-1 to 1.0.1-2 the problem disappeared. It is possible that these changes are correlated with the observed problem? If yes I would close the bugreport. Bug#478232: RFP: diffuse -- Diffuse is a graphical tool for merging and comparing text files.
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: diffuse Version : 0.2.11 Upstream Author : Derrick Moser <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://diffuse.sourceforge.net/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: python (>= 2.4), python-gtk2 (>= 2.10) Description : Diffuse is a graphical tool for merging and comparing text files. I am searching since years for a useful comparing and merging programm under Linux which is worth to compare with the famous WinMerge (GPL) program. (Sometime I even used winmerge with wine under Linux.) The authors writes following on his page: Diffuse is able to compare an arbitrary number of files side-by-side and gives users the ability to manually adjust line-matching and directly edit files. Diffuse can also retrieve revisions of files from CVS, subversion, git, and mercurial repositories for comparison and merging. Key Features * ability to compare and merge an arbitrary number of files * side-by-side (n-way merges) * line-matching can be manually corrected by the user * ability to directly edit files * syntax highlighting * CVS, git, mercurial, and subversion support * support for UTF-8 encoded unicode * unlimited undo * easy keyboard navigation Especially the last one is not to underestimate and makes the program very efficient and professional. Bug#475959: hpet=force vs /dev/rtc
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686 Version: 2.6.24-5 Severity: important If I boot with hpet=force I avoid approximately 35 wakeups per second. Unfortunately I noticed two unnecessary delays during the boot process. These are caused by the fact that hwclock is not able to read the time from /dev/rtc. The hwclock command works only with --directisa. I installed hardy with vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic in another partition on the same machine. There are no problems with hpet=force and hwclock. Ubuntu uses CONFIG_HPET_EMULATE_RTC=y. Is there any reason why this option is not set in the Debian kernel? -- Psst!
