Bug#814319: gcc-avr: Does not work for AT90CAN128

2016-02-10 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: gcc-avr
Version: 1:4.9.2+Atmel3.5.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Dear Maintainer,

I get erratic behaviour on my embedded device when I compile with the latest
version.

   * What led up to the situation?

I updated the gcc-avr package to 1:1.8.0+Atmel3.5 and compiled my app

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

First I get linker errors regarding the EEPROM library:

undefined reference to `eeprom_update_block'

Then I add the library for my device AT90CAN128 (this library is new in this
package, it seems)

avr-gcc -D__AVR_AT90CAN128__ -o myapp -std=gnu99 -mmcu=avr51 *.o -lprintf_flt
-lm -lat90can128

   * What was the outcome of this action?

This compiles but when I upload it I get completely erratic behaviour, the
display flickers, TTL ports go up and down...

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The app should work as with the previous package version. Or maybe I'm doing
something wrong? Shouldn't it find the correct library by itself somehow?

Bug#797404: kde-runtime: kNotify random crashes

2015-09-10 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: kde-runtime
Version: 4:15.08.0-2
Followup-For: Bug #797404

Dear Maintainer,

Hello, I also frequently run into this bug since Plasma5, also with the new
version of kde-runtime.

I also have an easy way to reproduce: In Audex, there is the option to "Search
Codecs". When I click that,
I always get the Knotify crash notification, and no codes are added.

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Trying to click the "Search Codecs" button in the settings dialog of audex.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Nothing helps, it seems...

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Codes were not added...

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

The the codes available on my systems are added to the audex settings

Bug#719791: libapr1: Crash in libapr when using svn+ssh URL in svn:externals

2013-08-15 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: libapr1
Version: 1.4.8-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I am using a svn+ssh URL in the svn:externals property to map in a directory
from another repository:

$ svn pg svn:externals .
trunk svn+ssh://u...@host.org/svnroot/repos/trunk/

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Now I want to run svn up so the external is checked out

   * What was the outcome of this action?

svn up fails with this message:

$ LANG=C svn up
svn: warning: Error handling externals definition for 'trunk':
svn: warning: To better debug SSH connection problems, remove the -q option
from 'ssh' in the [tunnels] section of your Subversion configuration file.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

svn up should check out the external repository into directory trunk

   * Things I tried:

I tried also without the user@ in the URL, placing the user information in my
.ssh/config, same result.

Same behaviour on Ubuntu

Interestingly, on Scientific Linux release 6.2 it works it ~/.ssh/config does
NOT exist. Otherwise, same error. That's why I suspect the error is upstream.

Using gdb I found that a child process segfaults, in the function
run_child_cleanups, and this failure seems to be the cause of the message

I installed the package libapr1-dbg to get debugging symbols, then the
backtrace in gdb looks like this:

$ LANG=C gdb svn

Bug#642447: installation-reports: Successfull installation on Lenovo T420s

2011-09-22 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: installation-reports
Severity: wishlist
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

I succesfully installed Debian without any problems.

I chose Guided, encrypted hard drive, one partition

With the same image from two days ago i had two problems, which are now both
fixed,

1) #640943
2) Installation of Grub failed
Cannot find a GRUB drive for dev/mapper

Either the problems are fixed, or it is because of the USB boot. Before I
burned a CD.

I configured the Ethernet manually, and used a proxy later for apt, as my
network does
not have DHCP yet and i have only restricted access other ethernet

Bug#631951: plasma-desktop: applications are very to start via kickoff

2011-06-28 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.6.3-1
Severity: normal

When i start an application via the K-menu (kickoff) then it takes very long
for the new window to appear. The bouncing icon even goes away and only
afterwards the window comes up. This happpens, e.g. with VLC player, iceape,
iceweasel and kopete.

When i start those programs by typing their name in konsole, they start
quickly.

I don't seem to have the problem with kate, which seems to start about
equally fast both ways.

This seems to affect my notebook only, not my desktop PC.

Best regards
Johanes

Bug#631953: kde-window-manager: Popup appears in the middle of the screen, not above i in taskbar

2011-06-28 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.6.3-1
Severity: normal

When i put my notebook into the docking station i run the script

$ xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1680x1050
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --off

to switch of the internal monitor and turn on the external one. This
also changes the screen resolution from 1280x800 to the above larger one.

Afterwards, the popup messages indicating new emails in kmail, or those
from kopete appear about in the middle of the screen, not above the
i information thing in the taskbar where they seem to originate from.

It seems somehow the popups fail to notice the changed resolution.

This happens a reproducibly, e.g. whenever i go online in kopete and it
tells me how many mails i have in hotmail.

I also noticed that its possible to drag the popup to a different position,
and it will keep appearing there then, so maybe this is feature, not a bug?

Best regards
Johannes

Bug#620807: libqt4-svg: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol

2011-04-04 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: libqt4-svg
Version: 4:4.7.2-3
Severity: critical
Tags: d-i
Justification: breaks unrelated software

After upgrading libqt4-svg:
libqt4-svg:amd64 (4.6.3-4, 4.7.2-3)

I get the following error when starting kmail or kwalletmanager:

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol:
_ZN20QGraphicsItemPrivate20focusScopeItemChangeEb

The plasma desktop also crashes when logging in the KDE session, but otherwise
it is working

Best regards
Johannes

Bug#587394: plasma-widgets-addons: fileWatcher is very slow with medium sized files

2010-06-28 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: plasma-widgets-addons
Version: 4:4.4.4-1
Severity: important

I put a fileWatcher Widget on my desktop showing the syslog. Now it happened
that
the syslog was about 30MB in size one day. Then logging in to KDE takes a lot
of time

First the splash screen hangs for about 30 seconds, then it goes to the desktop
but it takes
another minute or so until the control bar finally appears.

I changed the file to display in fileWatcher and the problem goes away.

It should not really be so expensive to get the last 5-10 lines of a 30 MB
syslog.

Best regards
Johannes

Bug#329639: Prefer Xalan over TestXSLT!

2005-09-22 Thread Johannes Willkomm

Package: xalan
Version: 1.8-4

Hello,

what I wanted to tell is rather something to improve, than a bug.

I am using Xalan-C++ for a very long time now, I still remember when the
only XSLT-Processor binary was TestXSLT. At least from Version 1.6,
however Xalan-C++ also has another binary called Xalan. This binary
has IMHO a much nicer user-interface:

   1) The calling convention is very much like that of saxon
   2) It does not spit out messages Parsing ... took ... ms like
TestXSLT does

Here some non-sense sample calls of TestXSLT, Xalan and saxon, that
should all to the same:

TestXSLT -param name 'wert' -in data.xml -xsl style.xsl -out ausgabe
Xalan -p name 'wert' -o ausgabe data.xml style.xsl
saxon -p name='wert' -o ausgabe data.xml style.xsl

Therefore I would like to suggest that Debian use the Xalan-Binary and
call that xalan (which also happens to be what I do to :)

rather than using TestXSLT

Unfortunately I didn't manage to compile Xalan-C++ Version 1.9, and i
didn't try Version 1.8 so I don't know exactly what's the current state
of affairs in the this regard.

Kind regards
Johannes Willkomm
