Bug#559576: metacity: Window bar events go to wrong window
Package: metacity Version: 1:2.28.0-2 Severity: normal When I use the close window button of the window bar, the window manager closes a different window. When I double-click the window bar in order to maximize a window, the window manager raises a different window and maximizes that. I'm not sure which window receives the event instead of the one that should, but it might be the one that was raised previously. I generally maximize all my windows and cycle through them with ALT-TAB. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages metacity depends on: ii libatk1.0-0 1.28.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.8.8-2The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libcanberra-gtk0 0.22-1 Gtk+ helper for playing widget eve ii libcanberra0 0.22-1 a simple abstract interface for pl ii libgconf2-4 2.28.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.22.2-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.18.3-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtop2-72.28.0-3 gtop system monitoring library (sh ii libice6 2:1.0.6-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libmetacity-private0 1:2.28.0-2 library for the Metacity window ma ii libpango1.0-0 1.26.1-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libsm62:1.1.1-1 X11 Session Management library ii libstartup-notification0 0.10-1 library for program launch feedbac ii libx11-6 2:1.2.2-1 X11 client-side library ii libxcomposite11:0.4.0-4 X11 Composite extension library ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.9-1 X cursor management library ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.1-4 X11 damaged region extension libra ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxfixes31:4.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxinerama1 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxrandr22:1.3.0-2 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii metacity-common 1:2.28.0-2 shared files for the Metacity wind ii zenity2.28.0-1 Display graphical dialog boxes fro Versions of packages metacity recommends: ii gnome-session [x-session-mana 2.28.0-4 The GNOME Session Manager Versions of packages metacity suggests: ii gnome-control-center 1:2.26.0-1 utilities to configure the GNOME d ii gnome-themes 2.28.1-1 official themes for the GNOME desk pn xdg-user-dirs none (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Does this section of the Lenny release-notes help ? http://debian.org/releases/lenny/i386/release-notes/ch-information.fr.html#no-sound Best regards. Thanks for the info. The section is not very helpful. First of all, Debian doesn't seem to ship alsaconf. The modules snd_pcm_oss and snd_mixer_oss are loaded (and I don't know why), but that doesn't seem to be the problem. The other things are okay. My problem isn't so much that sound is broken (it isn't), but that some new feature always resets the master volume to zero on reboot, and I have to change it manually. Bug#492601: unable to use m17n with anki
Andreas Bombe wrote: Could you please test if the Hindi/Devanagari input method issue is still applicable to a Debian version of anki later than 0.9.6-1? Or better yet if this is an actual anki bug? (Does it also happen on a fresh test account or a different installation?) I just tried with version 0.9.7.8, and the problem remains. When I try to edit a card, I can not enter Devanagari characters. At the same time, I can enter characters in a Gnome Terminal, or in thunderbird, however. Bug#488375: grub-probe hangs
Package: grub Version: 0.97-41 Severity: important When trying to install the latest kernel update, the command /bin/bash /usr/sbin/update-grub 2.6.25-2-amd64 /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25-2-amd64 hangs indefinitely. After some checks, it becomes clear that the command grub-probe --device-map=/boot/grub/device.map -t device / is responsible. It is trying to open /dev/fd0. There is no such device, nor was there ever one on this machine. However, the kernel update never failed before. Original-Nachricht Datum: Wed, 19 Sep 2007 16:36:07 + Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] An: Michael Burschik [EMAIL PROTECTED] Betreff: Bug#443197 closed by maximilian attems [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Re: Bug#443197: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64: Kernel sometimes fails to detect ide disk correctly) This is an automatic notification regarding your Bug report which was filed against the linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64 package: #443197: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64: Kernel sometimes fails to detect ide disk correctly It has been closed by maximilian attems [EMAIL PROTECTED]. Their explanation is attached below. If this explanation is unsatisfactory and you have not received a better one in a separate message then please contact maximilian attems [EMAIL PROTECTED] by replying to this email. Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) I disagree with this assessment. It may not be a kernel bug, but it is a bug which makes my system unbootable. If you are sure it is not a kernel bug, then you should reassign the bug to the offending party. Of course I know about disk labels, but Debian doesn't seem to be using them. The point is not whether I could fix my system, but why it is broken in the first place. Furthermore, I am not convinced that the kernel never has guaranteed device ordering. This may be true today, now that we have udev, but it would have broken countless systems during the last sixteen years. Oh, and incidentally, this has never happened to me before, and I have been using Linux for fifteen and a half of these sixteen years. I also object to the dismissive manner in which this bug report was rejected. If Debian does not want to receive any bug reports from its users, or in fact wishes to reduce its user base, then this is the correct way to continue. Otherwise it is not. Bug#443197: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64: Kernel sometimes fails to detect ide disk correctly
Package: linux-image-2.6.22-2-amd64 Version: 2.6.22-4 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system The kernel sometimes fails to detect or name the ide disk hdb correctly and calls it hdf instead (ok, this might be a udev problem). The system then is unbootable. The error occurs about every third boot. So far rebooting has always fixed the problem. This problem did not occur with 2.6.18 or 2.6.21. I have not modified udev.rules. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.22-2-amd64 (Debian 2.6.22-4) ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070812 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-15)) #1 SMP Thu Aug 30 23:43:59 UTC 2007 ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: JMB363: 100% native mode on irq 29 PCI: Setting latency timer of device :03:00.1 to 64 ide2: BM-DMA at 0xbc00-0xbc07, BIOS settings: hde:pio, hdf:pio ide3: BM-DMA at 0xbc08-0xbc0f, BIOS settings: hdg:pio, hdh:pio Probing IDE interface ide2... Bug#400343: migrationtools: all passwords marked as {crypt}
Steve Langasek wrote: On Sat, Nov 25, 2006 at 04:40:46PM +0100, Michael Burschik wrote: The command migrate_passwd.pl /etc/passwd marks all passwords in /etc/shadow as {crypt} passwords, although they are clearly {md5} passwords and are marked as such by $1$. How does this break? The system crypt() function also supports md5 hashes, AFAIK, so doesn't this Just Work? Yes, you are right. It does Just Work (TM). Provided that the LDAP-Server was linked against glibc2 and that it actually uses the glibc2 implementation of crypt (and not that of OpenSSL, for example). So this is not really a Debian bug, but it will break on any system that uses a crypt implementation without GNU extensions. Sorry about that.
